I was taking an upgrade course in Pure Math years ago and there was a sweet older Turkish Lady that was having trouble with a final chapter of the class and she came to me for help and I willingly helped her because I was fairly certain of my understanding of it. Well I explained it to her in a way that was easy for her to understand it and she finally got it...after days of stressing about it. So that very day she went home over lunch time and hand made me an entire plate of Baklava! it was by far the most incredible thing I have ever tasted, because up to that point I had never actually had Baklava. it was such a sweetheart thing for her to do, I never intended to help her for reward, I was happy that I was able to explain it to her in a way that she could understand it, but the Baklava was AMAZING! After Seeing how much work went into it now, I am even more appreciative for her labours to make it for me!

My American eastern shore raised mother started making Baklava when i was about 10 and it was one of those beautiful moments when I tried it the first time. The recipe she used had this wonderful honey, orange, spice syrup and layers of crispy butter-caressed filo dough. No pistachios but yes walnut, pecan, etc. She would put it together layered like lasagna, bake it and pour the spice syrup over it and set. Wonderful.

I love turkey, but haven’t made it TO Turkey.🤭I have been 200 clicks above the Norwegian Arctic Circle, though. In February. In a tent. While PREGNANT & sicker than a dog (didn’t yet know. I spent the ‘80s in the Marine Corps.) Had baklava in Detroit’s “Greektown” neighborhood & a Greek restaurant (owned/operated by a Greek immigrant) in OKC. I just don’t like it. The combined texture of phyllo dough & chopped nuts soaked in honey just doesn’t work for me. The other problem? I don’t like honey enough to want mouthfuls of that flavor. On the other hand, LOVE phyllo when it’s flaky (as it’s meant to be.) I could eat spanakopita w/ tzatziki sauce all day long!

This takes skill and experience! Now I'm hungry for baklava but I live half a world away, so I will have to settle for the poor versions made local to me.
YES PLEASE ❤❤❤❤ 1 OF EVERYTHING!!!! I want a whole try of the ones that look like croissants😊😊😊
And giving me the entire tray and I will eat them all!😊
Oh my word! I love Baklava but if you don’t have a good baker it can be tough. I wish we had an authentic baker in my city…I’ll have to look for one. I very much enjoyed and appreciated watching this delicious process.❤️
Where do you live ma'am
As an American-albanian, I grew up eating this stuff all the time. One of the best desserts
진짜 깔끔하고 정교하게 잘 만드셨네요
7:37 Look at all those hydrogenized vegetable oil shortening tins behind him. High quality baklava is made by using clarified butter. Never buy from them. Unfortunately, there is only a few places that use clarified butter. Most places are like 'Istanbul Baklava' and use lower quality fats 😥😧 7:20 He uses MDF with rough edges to press the dough into the sheet. Not exactly the best food contact material you might get 🙄Also, please tell me that you do not use L-cysteine to roll the dough that thin without any tearing!? Overall, this is a very industrial product that lack original qualities of baklava.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I miss living in Turkiye, best times of my life
Love to see different cultures cook & bake one off my favourites these Baklava
