You need a high intensity light (like car headlights) to shine against a reflective tape to see any noticeable reflection (sunlight would not be enough). You may just want to go with a brightly colored tape like 3M Scotchcal striping tape or Shurtape PC-619 neon duct tape.
I have red 3M Scotchbrite around the front arms on my 3DR Solo. It does help at closer ranges, but once the UAV gets farther away, it doesn't help much. LED lights would work better than tape. I have been using 3M tape for years on vehicles and motorcycle helmets. :)
I use solas tape on my bicycle, helmet and backpack. I also use a 1 " piece on the back of my shoes for added visibility.
