General Rudman, Thank you for a great interview. Your comments are most enlightening. Wish we had more officers par excellence like yourself. One that comes to mind is Roland De Vries. You guys epitomise true leadership.
Thanks for your positive comments
This was an absolutely fantastic interview. I must mention my father's mom was a Rudman from the 1820 British Settlers and had a family farm in the Eastern Cape.
General, I can not wait for the follow-up interview, and I would like to thank Koos and his amazing wife for this amazing channel.
I learned a lot when I was at 4 Recce with these guys, and to hear more and more is like having a birthday when I hear what these guys have done. We owe them more than what we will ever be able to afford.
Officer, Gentleman, exceptional leader, intelligent, Professional, respect. Had the privilage to know and work for such a great man. Salute Genl.
thanks so much
Brilliant. Thank you, General, Koos, and team.
Thanks Brendon
Les was my neighbor in Tempe in the 90s. He had an amazing family and always made every welcome
Gen, it was really great to hear from you after many, many years. I don't know if you recall , but I was a S/Sgt in the QM at the Military Acadmey from 1974 to 1979. I took the photo of you while on parade with your sword of honor. I thank God like you, that we are still alive and well after all these years. Your relationship with me as an NCO while at the Academy remains inbedded iny mind. Few and far between officers would choose to relate to us NCO's. A great Vertue you can be proud of.
I hope we could meet before the Lord takes us home. I live in Cape Town if ever you come out this way please let me know, so we can have a cup of coffee. Dudley
Hi Dudley. Great to hear from you and for the memories. Thanks for the invite. Look after yourself
Thank you Sir. I recall you running with my group on the stretcher race part of my selection course. We were in the lead from the start but were pipped at the post over the finish line. Also sat enthralled with C Coy as you narrated the individual stories of the men you lead in Angola, which stay with me. with gratitude, Rfn Clarke, C Coy 1Para Bn 1991
Thanks for the memories Stephen
General my Brother in Iaw was an English Les Rudman. From Boksburg. He served in the Engineers at Bethlehem. He passed on years ago. His Wife Kathy lives in Inverness Scotland. Thank you 4 a great Talk 2 you and Koos 🎉😊👌
Much appreciated
What year was he at Engineer Corps?
Excellent interview. It was nice listening to- and seeing you, Les. I enjoyed seeing our old "OO" photo with myself at the right in the backrow with my beloved LMG. Les also received the sword of honor after our formative course (Fase 2) at the Military Academy.
Thanks Hannes. Hearing from you takes me back many years and makes one appreciate friends
Thanks
Thank you General for a very enjoyable and infotmative episode. I have said it before in other interviews, myself as a NSM never new we had such great leaders in the SADF. I salute you and look forward to more episodes. Thank you Koos again for bringing this to us.
thanks so much for your kind words
Hello General Rudman. It was a great pleasure to listen to your interview, I enjoyed it immensely. I have forwarded the link to the rest of the guys. Looking forward to your next one. Keep well and best regards, Wayne.
Thanks Wayne. Good to hear from you. I'll be talking about our time together in 1987 in a later talk
Brilliant Man thanks
Much appreciated thanks
Great chat - thanks General!
Loved hearing you broke the standard proposal rules... and that you keeled over at the birth of your son!
Also, thanks for stressing that you welcomed NCO's into your life - not many officers could, or would do so!
Lastly - I'm wondering... there was a pilot at 16 Sqn - Sonny Janeke - any relation to your good lady?
thanks Vossie. I do not think they are related
@@leslierudman6231 Thanks General!
What a brilliant Man, once again a great leader
Much appreciated
Good Man!
Much appreciated
The mere mention of Krige Van Heerden...
That was excellent. Thank you sir.
Much appreciated
Great video take.....as I know many Generals as always General Rudman Shines above many....General eat like Mick Jager or Hilary Berry because there should be a 120 years left in You. Remember Chicken meat is red.....many a time in the passages of shops they say to my son your brothers in .....my best days was with commandant Brown leading us at Spes Forces rugby team😂
Thanks for your comments. I need to know whether red wine and a good whiskey are ok?
@@leslierudman6231 😊 red wine in South africa must be made with virgin olive oil....the secrets are in the way it is made and the grapes must have seeds in them....the problem comes in the seedless grapes....."the professor s words "ek het n beter saad as God gemaak" it's like our wheat and mielies....GMO's.....General I got my opf... at 1 Parachute battalion because the corporal ask why the other troops were falling asleep after breakfast at the Spes weapons section training and I said it was the bread.....it was DNA ed with a scorpion s DNA back in 1978....it is the main reason today that most South Africans have cancer or dementia.....General each slice of bread contains 8 teaspoons of sugar. Oooh and the stabilizer is from China...autoclaved human hair.....back to whiskey....a good whiskey drops your blood sugar and does not spike it....Scottish not other rubbish....but I only drink 3 things...water green tea and Ethiopia coffee expresso with cinnamon....cinnamon like garlic and herbs cleans you blood.....
@@leslierudman6231 sorry General....Mick Jager give a rolling stones concert in Germany 3 years ago at 82....danced for 3 hours....you are what you eat....the life expectation of Mick Jager is estimated at well over a 150....remember Issac lived till a 180.......sorry for the late reply... respect
@@leslierudman6231 General Rudman....Sir my answer on wine or whiskey I see did not reach you???.... Sir I don't touch neither.....too young.....but wine is made with the infusion of virgin Olive oil on top of it....sorry to say but only organic wine made in this way has polyphenols and that benefit will only happen after about 10 000 bottles of it. In South africa the wine maker produce methanol....at upington there is a merlot that is made with olive oil and a place at calitzdorp....the grapes must have seeds and not GMO seedless grapes....drinking of this GMO wine will cause type 2 sugar diabetes....doctors love To say a apple a day by they know they'll be selling you meds for High Blood pressure soon etc etc....remember those bastards are quacks
Calling him Les lasted 2.3 seconds!
😁😁
Ons het maniere in die SAP
Salute/Saluut.
Much appreciated
I believe Col Rudman was the OC of 1para in 1991. I was based in 1ssb in the same year and definitely remember the name. Man, the rivalry between us and 1Para. One night a couple of 1 para dudes jumped the wire and came and bliksemed us in our bungalows..😂
Hi Desmond. I'll talk about my time at 1 Para and 44 Para in later talks. The rivalry was always there and the fight was never one sided. Good punishment was also dished out out by 1SSB members
@@desmondmarx982 Alpha company 1983 intake was kept a month longer restricted from klaaring out before Christmas 1985 because they delivered punishment to 1SSB during their 2 years service....apparently the argument was that 1 SSB through a brick over the wall....but Alpha Company lines were next to 3mil hospital.....😷
@@oliverholmes784 . Thank you to the both of you for your comments.I heard something very similiar to that when I was there too. We were kids.. Deep down I had a lot of respect for 1 para, but would obviously never mention that among my fellow ssb boys. 😂😂. Take care
