I still rate the Casspir IFV/APC as #1. We used them with huge success in 101BN SWATF Romeo Mikes in the 80s. Mk1 and Mk2 if I recall. Mk3 came out in 90s (I think). Koevoet had as well and their version WOLF. Those were made if I recall by WMF - Windhoek Masjien Fabriek and Casspir by TFM. Our Weapon Systems were top notch. In 87 and 88 we had a Sesspir which had 6 wheels. Double diff in front. Our Casspir vehicles were effective and in my opinion a game changer.

Voorreg gehad om Blesbok te kon ry om voorrade te gaan haal, die Turbo weer weergawe was bietjie beter tov verrigting, en was 4 keer grensdiens en altyd Cassper bestuurder agv kursus, 2 x pap band geruil wat bewys hoe betroubaar die voertuig is, en nie boswereld voor bang was, verkies bosse bo teerpad...... Ook kursus op Albatros gehad en net so betroubaar, as jy ratskakelling kon glad doen. Vandag, en was 32 Jr K9 lid bly die beste bos voertuig die Cassper, veral toe vooruit kant vensters vergroot is. Jip lug verkoeling, slaan maar dak 90 grade op die waaier was nie so goed maar nie ondankbaar. SALUUT Cassper jy is,was,sal beste voertuig in my hart bly en betroubaar daarby.

I was the intake of 1979 to 1981 we moved the camp to Phalaborwa.I can remember Gen Borman and Schultz both were excellent leaders and we had the most respect for these two persons.Our intake and the next intake build Phalaborwa base into Very proud base don't know what it looks like now.Good to hear your side General still remember Komadant Schultz kept us till the last days he did not want us to finish up.We had great times there.Can still remember the place where the Rooikat was kept.

hello HP, iemand wat U ken se die volgende - "that was the worst day of my life, HP was hit with an anti-aircraft 14.5mm cannon which left a hole in him as big as a fist, it was a vicious contact, one of the worst ever for the SADF, we loaded him(HP) into the chopper, and the guys from his Ratel that survived jumped into my Ratel. Shortly thereafter my Ratel got hit with an Rpg7 - how I survived was a miracle, - that was on 10 June 1980, in the space of a few minutes 13 of our guys died and 28 were wounded, there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of it. I was glad to be picked up and flown out via chopper to hospital.
