im just going to say it. Great video! exactly what i was looking for , no other video shows this. but this video was authentic and showed exactly how to run wire between joists and through joists. great job!!
I already have some pot lights in my kitchen. Is it possible to add a different fixture (same wattage) to the existing end of run daisy chained lights? Thx.
Go for major brand lights. Cooper, Acuity, Progress, RAB, Topaz, etc. Those Amazon lights don't last long. Also, don't drill blind through joists. I'm glad you addressed this, but still super risky in most cases. For all you know your wire is running through the middle of your dryer vent right now. I have cut access holes many times and found all kinds of utilities that would have been damaged by this "blind drilling" method. I will never do it this way and do not recommend it.
I bought a borescope off Amazon for other purpose but would work great for this its only 50 dollars has a small camera that would let u see inside the ceiling
Can you use a smaller copper wire ? Since you are using LED lights. Someone told me that in new constructions people are using a very thin wire. Since the don’t draw much energy. So you don’t have to spend more money on 14 or 12 wire ? Thanks
In normal residential homes you will typically just see 14 and 12s for lighting. If they’re a lil fancy they might want led strips under, above, and in cabinets which are typically ran in low voltage 16-20 awg depending on how many lights and just the overall load. Where you save on the wire you spend on some sort of transformer or driver to change the voltage to an acceptable level. And you would have to make sure it is capable of supplying enough wattage to everything so more lights bigger driver with more wattage capacity. Really big commercial buildings (and some very large fancy homes -rare)do have all LED lights that use low voltage wires. I’m just a service residential apprentice I just know of it can’t speak on it.
When you drill through floor Joists you weaken the joist. There are building codes involved in where those holes can be drilled, (distances to load bearing wall that joist sits on as well as not having the hole too near the edge or notching.) A floor joist failure is catastrophic.
Please avoid doing that. It's completely nonsense. The simplest thing that can happen is that you catch your wires on the drill bit. The saddest thing is to catch the neighbor’s wires from above.
Hey, I'm glad to see your reels! I really like it. We are a CN lighting manufacturer with spot goods in our own Thailand and US warehouses. If you wanna selling panel nights or any lighting products you maybe interest to put on your shelves, welcome to contact me! I think we could have a nice collaboration ;)

Extremely dangerous drilling blindly through floor joists, could be wires, plumbing pipes, alarm, cable & tell .

Nice work! Wondering how did you deal with the insulation at 7:39?

I was going to get just the auger only but the long drill bit helped after watching your video bro
Thank you for your video!
Great video thanks

Great job
Please help me. I love doing things like this I have a room that needs lighting and maybe a ceiling fan.
how do you know if there is anything between those joists?
oh sorry, finished the video
On the hole saw, go with a 6" or 6-1/4" ?
1/4
Smaller the better
Blindly drilling...I'd be careful with that. No electrician will ever do that in their right mind
That doesn’t look like a box rated for fan and so many wires !1
Vid with no shortcuts, has a shortcut of power from a fan
Nice video but I’m stuck in a pickle still.
