That's how you do a video. No bragging. No backstory. Just hitting the ground running clear, precise, detailed information. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful. Cheers!
Yes her video was the best. No BS just got right down to business.
What did we ever do before UA-cam? I've been struggling with trying to figure out why my generator wouldn't run and watched this and found some key misses on my part. Thank you, Lawnmower Lady...Just in time for winter storm Izzy..
I'm glad to hear that Mr Greg! Used to be the library, or crunchy old Haynes Manuals. Stay safe and warm. Cheers!
Thank you. I watched you video and fixed my generator I live in FL and hurricane IAN is about to hit. Thank you!!!
Glad I could help. Stay safe.
Thank you, with your help I did mine and it worked! Three hundred dollars saved.
Great video. Followed step by step. When I was done, generator started right up and ran.
Excellent! I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Your video helped me fix my GP6500 during a power outage that is supposed to last near a week. Thank you for the clear concise and detailed video.
Happy my video was helpful. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Thanks for helping me get my generator running again. I didn’t have any guitar string but was able to use some fishing line.
Great to hear!
You did a top notch job of showing this process and your video was straight and to the point. Thanks for this tutorial. I've cleaned tons of carbs, but haven't pulled this one off my Generac yet and wanted to see what to expect. You nailed it and gained me as a Subscriber today. Kudos!
I appreciate you supporting my channel. Cheers!
I also cleaned my carb on my lunch break today. It was pretty clean.
Thanks! Your tutorial on cleaning a generac carburetor solved my problem.! Just in time!
Glad to help. Stay safe!
And a Super Thanks for your support!
You had me at "torque spec." Lawnmower lady for president-of the friggin' universe!
Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Outstanding example of how to produce a how-to video. Excellent audio and video. Correct parts terminology. Well done.
Thank you Mr Keith! I really appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Your video was the best. Made the mistake of not running my generator at all for about 6 months. You were the only one to show the removal of the atomizer and I'm so glad you did. The jet and atomizer were both clogged. It's running like it's brand new now and runs on one pull. Thankyou so much!
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the great video! I followed your instructions and my generator started on the first pull. You are a great teacher. You should have your own TV show.
Glad it helped. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
@@TheLawnmowerLadyis A Generac generator Better than A Champion Generator and a Westinghouse generator ❓❓
@@Honestandtruth007 Sorry for the delay in answering, I don't get notifications on replies to replies. To your point, they are all basically all the same. Just different paint colors. They all subcontract out to a few chinese manufacturers.
That thing is as clean as a whistle. Great work Stella! Keep up the great work.
Thanks Sgt.
Yes. Doing this tomorrow to my Firman generator. Thank you. You were a pleasure to watch.
Glad it helped. Cheers!
Thank you so much for your thorough, simple and pleasant video. I have a 5 year old Generac that was not maintained well and your instructions helped immensely following hurricane Ian. I praise God for helpful people like you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video step by step how to do it. Now I can work on my generator and get ready for the cold season.
Glad it helped Mr Pete! Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I truly thank you, hurricane Ian is 2 days away and my generac 5500 wouldn’t start. I followed your video now it runs perfect. My family and I thank you ! God bless !!!
Stay safe! I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Fantastic video, thank you for your wisdom. I just followed your instructions to clean my 5500 for Hurricane Beryl. God Bless!!
You're welcome! Stay safe.
Thank you so much! Your way of doing this is so easy to understand, I've watched numerous ones but yours has been the best for me!
You're very welcome! I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Getting an interlock installed this week and generator wouldn't start. Followed your instructions exactly, and now it runs! Saved my butt! Thank you!
Glad to help! Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I had problems starting my generac 7500E generator, I did a few things that did not work. I watched your video on cleaning the carburetor and it worked. Even though my carburetor looked clean, there must have been a clog somewhere. Thanks for posting this video.
Glad I could help Mr Paul. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Thank you for the information I just fixed my GP8000E by following your instructions. Thank you my friend!
Glad it helped!
The guitar pick thing I've got to try that ! I have such a chaotic approach that's why I haven't done a video ! You're such a pro 👏👏
Awww Mr Bill, you're too nice! 😘 Thanks for watching!
Great video, saves me $100 at the small engine repair shop….. thank you.
Right on Mr Al !! Makes me happy to know my video might save you some $$ Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Just wanted to thank you for this. Step dads Generac wouldn’t start after it sat in the garage. He took it to a shop who couldn’t (didn’t want to) figure it out. Following your vid, I found the atomizer was GUNKED completely shut. About 30 minutes of cleaning and it starts up on the first pull! Liked and subbed
That is awesome! I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Thank you for your video. I was able to change the carburetor for the first time in my life and now my generator works!
Glad it helped
Your good my dear. Real good. Followed your directions and saved my $800 dollor generator. Also saved $100 on buying a new carberator. Cheers to you.
I am happy to help. Cheers!
I had no idea a small engine carburetor had so many tiny holes to make it work right! Great video ma'am!!
Thank you Mr Blake! I really appreciate you watching.
@@TheLawnmowerLady You're welcome as always!! You have great content without the huff and fluff nonsense!!
Once again a fantastic video Stella you will be to 1000 soon
I hope so too Mr Hank! I'm working on something special for that 1K. Maybe a live stream. Thanks for your support!
I'm not mechanical at all, but your video helped me get my generator back up and running after 3 years of sitting idle. Thanks.
Glad to help. Cheers!
Thank you for making this video so I can working on my generator
Glad I could help. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Thank you so much for this! I have a Generac 5500 that sat in my garage for years. I did drain the fuel before I stored it and it fired up about a month ago but I think there was some sediment and rust in the tank that is now preventing it from starting up again. I was going to take it to the shop next week to get it cleaned out but after watching your video I'm confident I can do it myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Awesome! I'm sure it will work out fine. Thanks for watching!
I have this exact generator and it's been sitting longer than I care to admit. Thanks for the great tutorial(s)!
Thanks for watching Mr Brewster. i hope I could help you get it back in tip top shape. Cheers!
Kev in Ireland here good video really like the tip with the voice grips cover
Glad it was helpful Mr Kevin! Thanks for watching. Cheers!
My kids got me an ultrasonic cleaner last Christmas and I love it. I save my bread ties to use the wire to clean the small passages. Beautiful clean job. Good tips on not destroying the threads.
I like mine as I can drop some parts in, and move on to another task while those parts are cooking. Cheers Mr Haney!
I live in western Michigan and am preparing for this incoming winter blizzard that's to be on top of us in a couple days. My preps include starting up my GP5500 Generac and being sure it's running ok. Well it's not running and I believe it's a carburetor issue. Thanks so much for your clear, understandable and thorough video. You've given me the confidence to tackle the job!
Great! Stay warm. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Thank you so much followed this video and got my generator running again
Fantastic! Thanks for watching. Cheers!
You do a great job. I did everything you did. My Generator runs perfect. Thanks you so much.
Great to hear!
Awesome video, easy to follow, saved me a lot of time. Well done.
Great to hear!
Thank you, so much gunk in my carb, followed your steps and it started right up!
Fantastic!
I followed your step by step & was able to get my generator to start again on the 1st pull. Thank you!!
Fantastic! I'm so happy to help. Cheers!
Nice to see you work Stella x
Thank you! 😊 Mr Gary! Happy Halloween!
@@TheLawnmowerLady happy Halloween 🎃 Stella been very busy here hardly sat down so many kids at my door
You are amazing. Very meticulous and knowledgeable. Thanks
I appreciate that!
That carb is very similar to the Honda carb on my lawnmower. I wish I had seen this video before tackling that carb cleaning without much instruction. You always explain things so well and simply. Well done! Maybe you’ll make a video the next time you do a valve adjustment….that would be good to see, too!!
Thanks for watching Ms Inisfad. I do have to finish a video of a mystery mower problem that I want to check the valves to attempt to fix. It's basically a parts mower, so it's way down my priority list. Honestly there's more valve job needs on lawn tractors than push mowers, and I do maybe 75 push mowers for every ride-on mower.
@@TheLawnmowerLady If you were closer to me, I’d send you my old, rusty Partner (made by Husqvara apparently) lawn tractor. It runs, but needs a bit of love….lol
It is like the Honda except it has the studs instead of the long bolts. The studs are so much nicer for reassembly.
@@haneyoakie14 thanks for watching Mr Haney! Honda makes a tool, like the studs to assist with their bumbling array of gaskets. I just took some M6 thread to do the same. I got a video, but need to edit.
@@haneyoakie14 Yes, the long bolts make reassembly an adventure, at best. With the air filter in place, the entire assembly must be done blind. It’s fairly poor engineering.
Great video. Ive had this same generator for years.
I appreciate you watching.
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed to get mine running again. I like the informative and straight forward way you did this video.
Happy to help! Thanks for watching.
I just finished fixing mine using this video worked great
So happy to help!
James Condon would be pround of you Stella! Great camera work as always. I got a package from Rusty Rooster with stickers for my board. Thank you for the sticker and magnet! Im sure RR will share the picture i sent him. 👍😉🇺🇸

Awesome Mr Roger, thank you! Cheers!
Amazing video! Very comprehensive! I was able to clean my carburetor and get my generator running ahead of this hurricane (Idalia) bearing down on us in Tallahassee! Thank you!!!
Glad it helped!
Always use "white gas" ethanol free gas on these small gas engines. A little more expensive but will save you in the long run because ethanol will destroy these carbs. GREAT JOB!
I agree! I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Good job Hun.. a good step by step video
Thanks Sir Mick! Cheers!
I watched your video. Cleaned my carb and it started right up.
Thanks for your help!
Excellent! Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Well done. Good job explaining without a bunch of extra words.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks got mine running in 2024 been sitting for 4 years ave running got after I cleaned it
I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
OMG, your video was perfect. I had been tinkering with the generator for a couple of days with no luck getting it started. It's seldom used but it always started in the past with a little "starter spray" into the carburetor. Not this time. Hurricane Ian is on it's way to Tampa Bay so there was no time to spare! Using your video as a guide I was able to remove the carburetor, dismantle, clean and reassemble in about an hour or so. It started on the first pull ... yay!!
Glad it helped! Stay safe!
I tried a shot of starter fluid & nadda. This blows. This is a brand new unit that's only been turn over once 4 15 minutes when i got her back in 2019. What a $700 paperweight this had turned into. 🤬
@@itchiefeetadventures Sorry to hear that. Unless you drained the fuel and stored it dry, the entire fuel system and carburetor needs a thorough clean.
I needed help and you made it look so easy! I gave it a go and everything went swimmingly. My model was a bit different but no biggie. I did ground the spark plug and check for spark though. So satisfying when the machine started on the first pull… Thank you for such a clear and simple explanation. Mow happy!
Fantastic!

Another great video! Also looks like you're getting very close to the magic 1000 subs. Keep making great videos like this and it won't be much longer. 😉
So close Mr Eagle, so close! I'm working on something special for that 1K milestone, and might have to speed up my production if it keeps at this pace. Stay tuned! Cheers!
@@TheLawnmowerLady I'll be here to help you celebrate.
If you haven't already done so you may want to look into setting up a Google Adsense account now to avoid extra delay once you hit the UA-cam requirements. (Little things no one told me 😉)
Thank you! Done already! (It was a fiasco BTW) Apparently I already had an adsense account from another decade when I was blogging some of my 2-wheeled escapades. That was back in the day when the BigG were just tossing out approvals to any and every type of online content creator. I never flipped the switch for ads, and never really thought about it after that. Oh well, live and learn!
Thank you so much for your video
Glad it was helpful!
I love your video!! It helped me sooooo much!!! Thank you!!!
You're so welcome!
Thanks. Got it running again!
Good to hear!
I’m not a big fan of Generac’s engines even though they run ok. But at least they put a drain plug in the bowls. The later B&S OHV motors apparently can’t be bothered to do that are on the 5kw generators. Personally I’m a Honda guy.
I hear ya on the Honda engines Mr Chatrkat! Superior in many ways, despite the plethora of gaskets. LOL. However if you're talking about the Honda inverter generators, they are a fiddly mess to work on in such tight quarters.
@@TheLawnmowerLady I agree on all points. I like the GX and GV engines especially the Japan built models. I love the small generators and inverters too. I’ve yet to have the power end fail on any I’ve serviced, just the usual fussy lean carburetors with stake ethanol mixed gasoline. I have an EU2000i on the bench right now for carb service. But at least I could lift it onto the bench!
Thank you ma'am!
Thank you for the clear instructions.
You are welcome!
Another great lesson thank you ,say (generac) ,for me one more time !I get a kick out of the way you say it!
LOL Mr Joe. I guess I need to put an accent on that. Thanks for watching!
Excellent to the point, very well done. Thank You
Glad it was helpful! Cheers!
Thank you for the great video! I needed the refresher.
Glad to help. Cheers!
What solution do you use in your ultra sonic cleaner? Great video.
Thanks for watching Mr Cliff! If the carb is not too varnished with old fuel, I use a 4:1 water:Pine Sol solution. I find the Pine Sol has enough solvent properties to take care of most dirt, and doesn't dis-color the carb so badly. Vinegar works well for brass things, and I sometimes use CLR for rusty/crusty bits.
Great video again Stella.

You bet!
Thanks!
Glad to help, and thanks for your support!
Great video, easy to follow. But my issue is that the generator starts, but hunts considerably when returned to the run position, until it stalls. Is there a video solution to this issue ?
I would suggest cleaning the carb again with particular care towards the idle circuit. It's usually a screw or plug that has to be removed after removing the idle speed screw. That said, many generators will smooth out running when they are operating a load. I hope this helps.
This is exactly what I was looking for. This will be my first mechanical fix… ever! My gp5500 won’t start and I’ve tried everything my limited skills know. Checked the carburetor plug, the fuel was drizzling out steady, the oil level was good, and tried to run it and it started for a quick second then stopped. Did this several times with carb fuel to help kick start it but it dies quickly after starting. So, I think I will try following your video since I just found it and it’s so greatly detailed. However, I do not have a parts cleaner. Do you recommend just using carb cleaner and a soft brush to clean it? Thanks
I would use brake cleaner, less harsh on the plastic bits. Just make sure when you spray into one orifice, it comes out cleanly from another.
I love the plastic tanks on Generators
Hate the metal tanks and cleaning the rust out of it
Be careful what you buy folks
I agree!
MY Generac 5500 gave trouble again and replaced carburetor. MY problem is when I start it on choke it runs and starts fine. When I change it to run it wants to stop on and on with no power. what do U think my problem may be. Thanks for keepings us informed with your excellent knowledge.
I think some aftermarket/replacement carbs are hit or miss. I wish I had better information. Might try a thorough carb clean on the original and see it it helps? Thanks for watching.
I have a Generac RS7000E. Just followed your video and cleaned the carburetor. (Great video by the way. VERY helpful!) It still won’t start. I followed another video suggestion and unplugged the low oil shutoff sensor to see if it was defective and preventing it from starting but that didn’t help either. Any suggestions?
A couple of thinks to try... squirt a little fuel directly into the carb throat. If it sputters and coughs a bit, you've confirmed spark and compression. The problem is fuel flow. Start with the basics: spark, fuel, and air. Thanks for watching.
@@TheLawnmowerLady Ok. Thanks for answering!!!
About when you did this I was working on the exact unit but for some reason the brass bowl nut was broken inside the carb weird. (kids playing around??) i replaced the carb due to the money issues.
That's crazy! I can't imagine how that was broken, those can't be cast, right? Thanks for watching Mr Bruce! Cheers!
Thank you dear lady. I was in the dark how am I going to dismantle and clean my carb. It is the only item left to check. My machine is new only used once to try it out. Stored for quite long and then after trying it out ...nothing. I wonder whether the manufacturers do this on purpose cos even the ignition went caput. There is nothing there to seize or clog and yet no spark. Now it's the carb turn. Hope it works.
Glad it was helpful! Do check the oil sensor, that might be the reason for no spark?
@@TheLawnmowerLady There is a spark cos I changed the coil for a new one. That's why only a cleanup for carb is left . Hope for the best.
