Firstly you made them both sound lovely. I listened through my good quality desktop speakers to get the best sound. They both sound fantastic, to me in some parts your violin sounded better in other parts the Holstein sounded better. Overall I'm leaning towards yours though as like me old and matured has got to be better. You should buy the Holstein it would make you a fantastic back-up instrument.
Thanks for the comparisons, I watched (and listened to them all). There's certainly a difference but nothing beats actually playing the violins, to appreciate the difference. All the best.
They are both beautiful sounding .. What blew me away was YOUR playing. Watching your violin tutorials a few years ago and they were great but I never did see how beautifully you actually played .. WOW you did them both justice Thank you for the comparison
They are both beautiful violins! I absolutely love your German antique violin and hope to buy one someday. The Plowden is amazing as well! Thank you for the demonstration! As always, you are so helpful to us all! Thank you so much! You are brilliant!
I like the plowden it sounded really clear and dramatic. It conveyed the pieces more strongly to me but the woody sound of your violin is gentle and sweet!
Wow of what i can tell the difference is really Clear if ur using ear phones/ headphones 🎧. The BENCH PLOWDEN sounds nice though but The Antique Violin Resonates more and vibrates better. Thats all❤️
You make every instrument sound great🌹🌹 The older the spruce the sweeter the sound. I buy antique violins and lput them back into playing condition just picked up a Maginni such a beautiful instrument, I have one crack to repair. I noticed the treble f hole is high like a Stainer the bass f hole normal.🤔 I'm certain it will sound wonderful. Thanks Allison. Remember most every one is a replica just as we are, what matters is the sound we make when we play 🗡️
I love them both, but the antique one has a darker tone. As another proud owner of an antique German violin, I can say that the antique one really sings!
I guess I am lucky I still have the original neck on my viola. Does anyone know how many baroque viola necks are out there? My appraiser informed me that baroque necks in general are few and far in between, in single digits if I understand, violins included.
Hello, I’ve been wanting to buy a violin for a while . Do you have any recommendations for one? I don’t really mind what the cost is. I know this is a late comment but hopefully this comment reaches you. Thank you in advance!
Sounds like this (Fiddlerman)is a very good violin for some who has some money but can't afford an antique. Thanks for this comparison and all of your other great videos. 😁😁😁
Yes - thats the point and why i made the video. For a modern made violin, its very close to an antique one - just a little different sounding, but no 2 violins will ever sound the same anyway.
Hey Allison .. I have a doubt and I hope u can help me with it.. I have been playing ukulele for 3yrs but now I'm deciding to also learn piano .. so by far as per my budget I have shorted to CAsio Cts 200 but I recently learned about touch senstivity available in cts 300 and though 300 will be a bit out of my budget but then I don't want to miss out on something so plz guide me should I continue and buy CAsio Cts 200 or I should go for cts 300
Im sorry I have no idea - I dont know anything about that piano - you are best to pop into your local music shop and the sales people will be able to help you.
At a point in life where I appreciate the story behind the instrument as much as anything else. The actual differences in tone can be manipulated by string choice.
The antique violin wood has aged obviously which would lend a different sound. In the acoustic guitar world, the aged/older one will have a sweeter sound. My 35 tear old beginner guitar sounds much more resonant now. Probably the same with you violin. Good video 👍
Hi Alison. I’m finding myself in a pickle. All I am wanting g to focus on is open strings but I cannot find sheet music. I downloaded book 1 and it does not appear to be for a violin. I also subscribed to the Patreon page and this seems way out of my league but will leave the subscription going as incentive for my hard work. Where can I find sheet music to assist me? Everything book I’ve bought, though for beginners, seems to start off well and then jump me into confusion.
If Im looking at what I think is your order, it seems you have purchased Violin Song Book 1 which should be attempted after you have gone through all 10 lessons.
The Online Piano & Violin Tutor I have not gone passed open strings. I feel like I should practicing open strings and easy music reading for a t least a week. So I think it’s lesson 5
The Online Piano & Violin Tutor yes that’s the one. Is there anything easier I can buy? I’m just not confident to move on to notes yet. I mean, I am confident enough I just feel like I’ll make a big old noise more than be constructive at this point
for public playing as a concert soloist i would chose the german violin because it is a bit louder, but for all around playing i would chose the fiddlerman because it is more round in sound and doesn't have the edge of being strident on the higher notes. both are very good violins.
Damn the traditional violin obviously cost a lot of money 💴 damn me equal broke lol 😂 but my parents bought me a violin from music and arts and I was so happy to have my own violin 🎻 cuz I kept begging them to buy me my own violin
Funny how all people describe sound I would say opossite in, discribing to the two but I am, totally I love with older violins that's why today I got one just waw I'll watch now ur, other antique violin comperation video :)
seems violin people are snobs....both sound mesmerizing . If you didn't tell theses instruments were different , no-one could tell..... blind test is due.
There’s no difference between a lambo and Toyota then. Many people can tell the difference who have experience. Her violin has a story going back many years, and was made a more masterful violin maker, so comepared by that it’s value will naturally me higher. So don’t go calling violinists snobs for appreciating an amazing violin more than an an advancing player instrument.
If by snob, you mean someone that appreciates the history of an instrument then some of us will own our snobbery. I have a greater appreciation for my two 100 year old Gibson mandolins, my 1947 Gibson archtop guitar, my 150 year old French violin and my 100 year old Saxony violin than any of my newer Chinese instruments exactly because they survived their travel through time as well as their tremendous voices. Yep, I'm snobby as Hell.

Let's wait 200 years for the Holstein to catch up and compare them again.
They are both beautiful violins! I absolutely love your German antique violin and hope to buy one someday. The Plowden is amazing as well! Thank you for the demonstration! As always, you are so helpful to us all! Thank you so much! You are brilliant!
they both sound equally amazing!
I like the plowden it sounded really clear and dramatic. It conveyed the pieces more strongly to me but the woody sound of your violin is gentle and sweet!
Wonder ful example of different sounding violins we have two German violins each have there own sound.
Wow of what i can tell the difference is really Clear if ur using ear phones/ headphones 🎧.

both sounded great, but your mystery German violin sounded more open and responsive, beautiful instrument.
I guess I am lucky I still have the original neck on my viola. Does anyone know how many baroque viola necks are out there? My appraiser informed me that baroque necks in general are few and far in between, in single digits if I understand, violins included.
Just curious, if for some reason you no longer had you antique violin what would you replace it with. Thanks.
Another antique violin.

Alison has videos on a bunch of the Fiddlershop violins. Search her videos and look for the links below for them.

@@TheOnlineViolinTutor very true.😁😁
I do like mostly your Antique violin Alison, and I think it sounds more like Stradivarius comparing to Guarneri's "Plowden" replica

The Plowden sounds very nice. I agree it sounds more mellow, hmm I like.
Awesome video idea!
The German one sounded gorgeous but the other kept up quite nicely.
Can you make a tab tutorial video for sad romance my teacher
I dont make tab tutorials im afraid.
Please teacher
The point is that with 4-5k anyone could have a great fantastic violin🎻🎻🎻
Hi Alison! Where did you buy your violin? I absolutely love it! I love the Plowden as well!
Its an antique violin from a violin dealer.
@@TheOnlineViolinTutor thank you Alison! Very beautiful violin!
Sometimes you find antique violins in strange places. I got mine from an antique shop, same age as hers.
🎻 🤔
I like the antique one more

I'd choose that antique violin.
Hey allison i love you and your videos.💖
Wow, I really like the Plowden
Old instrument sound has a core. New copy is very even in all sound range.
Mam please suggest me violin to buy online on amazon under 100$ .
I hope you would help me.
I do not have any suggestions for violins under $100 im afraid.
Well in any case, they both sound great ;)
Damn the traditional violin obviously cost a lot of money 💴 damn me equal broke lol 😂 but my parents bought me a violin from music and arts and I was so happy to have my own violin 🎻 cuz I kept begging them to buy me my own violin
I would expect that after being "played in" that bench plowden would sound even nicer.
Yes it will.
Your violin is a lot softer but I can only think because of technological differences is why.
Funny how all people describe sound I would say opossite in, discribing to the two but I am, totally I love with older violins that's why today I got one just waw I'll watch now ur, other antique violin comperation video :)
I hated playing because of the counterfeit devices. I can't get a device that plays well
I like your violin so much more than the Holstein
In my ear sound from the old one is like 3 slices of cheese while the new one is just 1 slice of cheese.
It has way more color and overtones for sureeeee.
Hi i subbed🎵
Thank you for your support :)
Your violin looks to be a Amati style violin.
The genuine antique is wide open. The replica, not so much.
That Plowden is a "singy" violin compare to the "nasally" wittenwald
Your makeup is pretty ^^
Your violin wins
HANDS DOWN THE GERMAN ANTIQUE!! SORRY PIERRE.

You must be very small, because they look huge in your hands.
