Also known as Kalyanathandu Calvary Mount is a view point in the Idukki district of Kerala India and gives panoramic views of the Idukki Dam reservoir and the surroundings from about a height of 200 meters above the reservoir. Kalvari Mount 12 kms. from Idukki also known as the Calvary Mount lies in the vicinity of Thekkady on the way to Kattappana. Elephants can also be seen roaming in the forests near the foothill.
Visitors have the option of trekking to the top from the Idukki and Kattapana main road or they can cover part of the way up to the ticket counter by jeep.
Kalvary Mount or Kalliyanathandu is a famous Christian pilgrimage site perched atop a hill offers that an aerial view of the Idukki Reservoir and its surrounding peaks and forests. It is also an ideal place for mountain climbers and trekkers.
Guided trekking can be availed from here to nearby places. During Lent the area turns into a pilgrimage center as Christians go in a procession up the hillock.
The Malankara Dam Idukki Hydroelectric Project and Nadukani and numerous tea gardens are present in its vicinity.
At a distance of 10 Kms from Idukki & 55 Kms from Munnar Kalvari Mount also known as Calvary Mount is an important tourist place in Idukki District. The Kalvari Mount Viewpoint offers a charming view of Idukki Reservoir from Idukki to Ayyappancovil on one side and panoramic view of Kamakshy and Mariyapuram villages on the other side. It is one of the most scenic places in Idukki and a must visit place in the district. The view point is situated near Thankamani Junction on Thodupuzha - Puliyanmala highway.
