John Williams is an American Icon. He scores music, just as a writer would write a script. He gives his music words. He makes his words Audible and they become part of the script and Movie.
I could not stop laughing at John Williams, he's half dancing while conducting the choir and the orchestra. I love this man, he's incredible.

When I listen to this spectacular musical performance, I can't help but bring to mind the Sunday of the Resurrection, a.k.a. Easter Sunday.
The sudden bang-like sound of the orchestra upon the first lyrics, " Laudamus Te, Laudamus!" Reminds me of the instant when the stone of Christ's tomb was suddenly rolled away, and as the choir progresses, I could just see the Risen Christ+ triumphantly stepping out of the tomb.
I just witnessed a master piece ❤️🌹
In the movie they played this on Japan's surrender and this perfectly represents the mood the people of Shanghai must have felt

@martyprod2, I believe this is from the 1993 Holiday at Pops broadcast (Fred Buda, the drummer has hair, which he didn't have in 1989).
You're absolutly right, i just checked it on the program ! Don't know why i wrote this date, it's maybe related to the home alone medley, i'll have to check, thanks, i'll modify it immediatly !

@@sethmascolo1885 i'm sorry, i unfortunatly don't have it, i only have the program, and 3 tunes from it in video, the home alone medley, and this one from empire of the sun, and a third one , but don't remember which tune, it's the only thing i have from this concert, and unfortunatly in an awful quality :(.

I bet the Wiener Sangerknaben [all 4 choirs] would have stunned listeners, in a rendition with the Wiener Philimoniker. I betcha!!!!
+Will Crump Will . . . I have sung with some of the best voices and my university voice professor was an Opera vocalist. With that said, I want to say something different : I have sung mostly in SATB choral milieus ... and as I said earler, I have heard some of the finest voices out there. However, it is a MOST unusual phenomenon that the most astounding Soprano and Alto voices I have ever heard were NOT females.
For some inexplicable reason, it has been my experience in Choral music, whether singing it or listening to Play-Backs, that Top-Flight British and German-speaking BOYS can . . . and often DO sing soprano and alto parts better than most woman / girl sopranos. I do not know enough VOCAL-CHORD physiology theory in Connexion with Genetics, and the Audio Dynamics involved to EXPLAIN why. But it is true, nonetheless. My twin and I have talked about this more than once. The oddest part about all of this is that it is British boys and also those from Deutschland, Österreich, oder Schweiz, who seem to EXCELL. I think France also could be in this mix as well.
BTW, we are 62 years old. My voice is OK and works sufficiently in a CHORAL setting. But my Twin, Bobby??? His voice, to this Day, remains as strong, clear, and retains the Rich Timbre it did in 1976, when we sang the Beethovan 9th with the New Orleans Symphony . . . It's a shame that audio is so noisy.
i only have that source unfortunatly, it was from a VCD (so Mpeg1 video and audio, the worst possible). very old. i'm not the one who recorded it.
the shows i recorded myself are easy to see, they have a logo on the top right, called from a german channel called "Onyx" on it (on some of them it has been cropped.) or PBS Hawai. all the other videos are here because of long time search and trading between john williams fans during 25 years.

The proper Latin spelling is actually "Exaltate Iusti" because Latin has no "J."
ahh interesting, i didn't know that ! but why they wrote the title that way with a J ? (i did latin studying in junior high school, but i remember unfortunaly NOTHING :( )

You are correct when speaking about Classical Latin (which I prefer). However, when using Ecclesiastical (Church) Latin, or Italianate Latin, Italian influences in spelling are used with some classical latin pronunciations mixed with italian pronunciations.
This is most definitely Ecclesiastical Latin.
