Yellow's my favorite Diamond! I like how loyal she is for her close ones (I like that in villains) and how she didn't just have high standards for her subordinates but also herself. And she was honestly pretty damn patient with Peridot's call (that was very much against the rules in the first place!) at first considering she was overworking and she even offered to get Peridot a ride back. I can respect that. I think it would've been noteworthy that according to White, Yellow is especially weak for Blue (because yellow absorbs blue light). Seeing Blue hurt because of her attack really seemed to affect Yellow's change of heart.
I agree, she clearly got mad when Peridot called her a clod but she was more patient than you’d expect compared to how she acts throughout the rest of the series.
I think she was patient with Pdots call because, being a military leader, she knows things don’t always go to plan. She knows that her troops wouldn’t break a rule like that unless it was absolutely necessary. Especially one as naturally loyal as our favorite little Dorito. By incompetence or outside events, Murphy’s law applies to everyone, and yellow wouldn’t be the leader she is if she didn’t allow for and tolerate it.

Yellow's power is that she can destroy the physical forms of gems. Yellow was also physically abusive towards Pink, and would yellow, grab, and throw her. Whether her abuse went beyond that, we may never know, since I doubt cartoon network would allow domestic violence depicted on their channel. Blue Diamond's power is emotional projection, and she'd hurt Pink by making her feel guilt and sadness for things that weren't her fault. White Diamond's power is mind control, and her form of abuse was making Pink feel helpless and have no control of her life or her own choices. I also think that Pink Diamond herself was sometimes abusive and manipulative towards her friends, and her aura power seems to be emotionally connecting with people, but this can be metaphorical for her own style of abuse as well. She'd connect with her friends, and make them feel like she cared about them, but after they outlasted their usefulness, she'd abandon them.
Yes. Abuse creates a cycle. It becomes normal. That's why I identify with Pink so much. You act in certain ways others don't consider normal or right because it's normal to you.
From what I got from Steven Universe, the diamonds sorta signify generational trauma. With white diamond being the source, passing it on to blue and yellow, and all of them putting a lot of pressure on pink. Like most people in the younger side of the family, pink rebelled, even started her own rebellion. And with Steven, he was able to make them realize the damage the diamonds have done. Especially in the scene with him and blue in the tower, when he asked how many times they locked pink in there. That’s what I think

Yellow is an antagonist with a good work ethic, and that's why I love her! I wish that she got more appreciation from the fandom, but I guess because she enforces Homeworld's rules the most, and she's not as "touchy feely" as the other gems (the hate existed even before we found out about Pink's abuse)
I think that the reason gems embody the opposite of what they theoretically offer to humans in the real world is because they give these abilities to humans through their colour and other stuff. Thus, by giving these things they remain with the opposite which explains their behaviour.
Season 5 helped tie Yellow with Blue as my favorite Diamond, it was nice to see more of her patient & nicer side. although you could argue that we saw hints of it during Yellow's first appearance (up until Peridot ticked off & insulted her at least)
