What type of bike is for an area with no bike lanes or sidewalks, have to ride on the side of the road on grass or dirt/gravel. I was thinking mountain bike? I wouldnt mind riding on trails and at parks on paved surfaces too.

Hybrid bikes are designed to be faster than a mountain bike, especially on roads. Hybrids are meant for fast city commuting.

There is no right answer, particularly because I don't know if it is even legal to ride on the road or the sidewalk where you are.
What about recumbents, and if you're using cargo, why not tricycles?
If you have difficulties on two wheels, three wheels is better than no exercise for sure.
