While that’s certainly true, then I wouldn’t be able to see them here in their home town (Oct2/21- fingers crossed!) for $20 Canadian at a club that holds 600 people.
Stadium shows suck compared to smaller venues, and lots of these bands frequently play venues that are 10K+, so not exactly tiny shows. Depends on what city you're in really. Some cities have a big metal scene, others don't.
While I completely agree that bands, especially UTA should be selling out arenas, we wouldn't be getting these more personal experiences. I got the VIP tickets and tickets for the show which only about 300 people can go to. That means that it is just for those who love this band and are passionate about them. I would love for them to sell out arenas, but I think that having smaller venues allows for them to be themselves more and enjoy the experience with us.
Just wait until y'all get to their song Tonight We Ride! Talk about belting some high notes... Love this song so much. Brittney has a helluva voice on her that's for sure! Another great one Asia & BJ😊🥰
Asia you are absolutely spot on! Brittney grew up singing and apparently honing her immense skill in church choir. Unleash the Archers' last two albums "Apex" and "Abyss" are incredible pieces of art. I certainly hope you continue this journey - cheers!
Asia....BJ....Thank you from the bottom of my cold black heart ;-). One of the most criminally underrated metal bands finally getting some recognition.!! There are a plethora of great songs of theirs to chose from, I dont think you can really go wrong, but two of my favorites are Tonight We Ride and Time Stands Still. Brittney (Hayes) Slayes, possibly one of the top 3 female vocalists of this generation. She does some crazy opera with Lords of the Trident, that's worth a listen just to hear it if you cant react to it. Her stamina, range, power and control are mythical. And she's a great rugby player as well, played in Vancouver when she was in university...mean ass stiff arm for sure. Scott Buchanan, in my personal opinion is possibly the best drummer on the planet. Jukka and Kai from Nightwish are masters as well, but, hard to argue against Scott. Grant Truesdell the growling machine and master guitarist is a key back up and vocal distortion expert that always punches your eardrums with some mind boggling growls. He has a tone similar to Tatiana from Jinjer, in so much as they both actually can control the tone of their growl/scream so you can actually hear them move the pitch of it. It's exceedingly difficult to master. Andrew Kingsley, man how do you even begin to describe his ability with a guitar. It's like it's an extension of his arms, he's just so natural with it and peels off insane riffs that leave some expert guitarists floundering. The only thing they are missing is a full time, master Bassist. The gent you see here, Nikko Witworth IS a master bassist, but has since moved on from the band, mores the pity. He employs a technique that you see in classical and flamenco guitar, which is stupefying as a bassist, but as you can see, it works !!! I wish he had reconsidered, but we'll have to make do with his contributions here. Hope you get to more of them and Nightwish in future, toss in some Epica and Kamelot and I'll be glued to your channel ;-).
Waiting on this one.... lol... Scott (Drummer) is a BEAST! He plays with a unique style on this one also that is rarely seen. He uses [Heel Toe] so the bass drum is LL,RR,LL,RR instead of L,R,L,R. Imagine him after a TWO+ hour show. And his long time girlfriend Brittney Slayes (Lead Vocals) she is ABSOLUTELY INSANE.... wait til u guys check out "Tonight We Ride" also their new album "ABYSS" is AMAZZZ... the opening track "Abyss" is great. The album "Awakening" is on "Apex" and "Abyss" are concept albums... meaning they tell one continuing story. "Awakening" is the opener on "Apex" and tells of "The Immortal" being awoken for a task from his mountain where he was locked away to await the call of Awakening... BTW just a WOW for you on "Tonight We Ride" Ms. Slayes goes into the stratosphere with A5's and F5's...OMG here is a bit from an article with Brittney (via The Headbanging Moose) ... i'm 34. i came from a childhood of 50s+ rock n roll/british invasion, a phase of ACDC/rock in middle school to hiphop/RnB heavily in my teenage years to jazz/blues/soul in college then to new country and 80s hard rock up to about 32 when a buddy introduced me to post-hardcore(?) i guess, like Rain City Drive/Slaves/Nerv/etc. with playlists and combinations of all of it. And sprinkle in whatever pop/alternative/indie songs were popular over the years. never in my life would i every listen to this kind of music. ever. and then just in the last 6 months i discovered Amaranthe and the wide world of Power Metal. and now i'm hooked. and just when i thought it didn't get any better i found Unleash the Archers. i can't explain how much i love this band. glad you guys enjoyed it and expanded your mindset to include new music and can appreciate it for the skill it takes these players to be this good. check out their others stuff, you'll like it. There isn't a bad song on their albums Apex and Abyss.
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! Not exactly gospel but she sang in the community choir and did choir at school and several musical theater productions. Choir however was her second choice at school. Rugby was apparently her big passion.
Hey Asia and BJ! Glad you gave UTA a chance -- they are a _very_ underrated band, especially considering that UTA won a Juno Award (a Canadian Grammy), for Best Metal Album of 2020, for the album Abyss. Speaking of Abyss: I highly recommend checking out the single Abyss, as well as The Wind That Shapes The Land, one of the most epic power metal songs I've ever heard -- a song that is up there with Nightwish and Ghost Love Score. The Wind That Shapes The Land has no music video, however, only lyric videos, or the original video. And lastly, Asia, nice catch on the gospel influence! Brittney Slayes was indeed a gospel singer growing up, and it helped her musical theater background as well. If you guys fancy it, go ahead and check out Northwest Passage, a song written by Stan Rogers in 1981, and a song that a lot of people say is Canada's second national anthem.
Tonight we ride. This group is awesome. They sound the same live as they do on the track. They are very humble individuals as well. you must listen to more of them.
So glad you guys found UTA. Fun facts: They're from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and now reside in Vancouver. They're a power metal band which draws much of their inspiration from 1980's-90's metal bands. Brittney Hayes (Slayes) has a degree in creative writing, but has also has had a considerable amount of musical training. She was a member of a Juno winning classical choir that toured extensively (the Junos are Canada's Grammys). UTA recently won a Juno award for hard rock/metal band of the year. She also played Rugby through high school and university, so she's more than just vocally tough. Brittney and the drummer, Scott Buchanan formed the band and are partners. Brittney writes the storyline, the lyrics and the vocal melodies for their music. The album "Apex" and the later one "Abyss" are both concept albums that span a single storyline of the evil machinations of the Matriarch and the Immortal who must do her bidding as a consequence of a curse, but who later rebels. The Matriarch is pure evil who gives birth to four sons solely so that she can later kill them in a ritual, drink their blood and become immortal. Not exactly mom of the year material. Interestingly in this song, Grant sings the role of the Matriarch and Brittney sings the role of the Immortal being awakened from his millennial sleep by the call from the Matriarch. You may want to check out their music video "Cleanse the Bloodlines' which is about the Immortal delivering the sons into her hands so that she can murder them: ua-cam.com/video/PfSL-6YExzk/v-deo.html If you want to really hear Brittney wail, check out "Tonight We Ride" ua-cam.com/video/UOvZKJlrtk8/v-deo.html Brittney is very active on social media and does interviews with reactors. Here's an example of one: ua-cam.com/video/bNVhcjQ5WNA/v-deo.html
I always appreciate when people take a step outside their day to day music taste and learn to appreciate the musical, lyrical, and vocal intricacies of metal.
Loved watching you both be moved by this performance, especially Asia. That look on her face the entire time, you can see her connecting not only with the band, but as a vocalist, you can see Asia connecting with Brittany's voice.
This song sounds insane, and their execution is amazing, but I also love the lyrics. You know the thing they do in heavy metal and fantasy movies where the evil wizard wants to raise a giant monster who's been asleep for thousands of years to destroy the Earth? She's singing this from that giant monster's point of view. This is what's called "power metal." I think you can see why. Drummers like that can do a whole 2-hour set. Note that's why he's wearing athletic compression socks.
Asia, you nailed it (almost)😉. Brittney Hayes (a.k.a Brittney Slayes) was actually a classically trained choir singer (non gospel style) who toured the world with one of the most prestigious choirs in Canada. When her boyfriend's band broke up, she suggested they start a band together. She and her boyfriend (the drummer) contacted Grant (the guitarist/vocalist) who was in the drummer's old band and he agreed to join.
That guitar break in the middle straight 🔥 🔥 🔥🔥🔥. The entire bands is amazing. And Brittany her vocally ability brings this band together even more. Love this song. Time to go listen about 4-5 maybe 10 more times. Lol
You guys are killing it lately! The variety of artists is vast. I will second the suggestion below of Time Stands Still. It is a great display of Britney's voice.
UTA in that video put on a clinic. They are one of my fav. bands and not just in the Power Metal genre. They have a ton of great songs out there - Tonight We Ride, Abyss, Northwest Passage, Faster Than Light.....and more.
"Tonight We Ride", "Faster than Light", and "Abyss" would be great follow-ups. Also "Northwest Passage" will show another side of Brittney. Their videos are all pretty cool too.
Greetings from Canada- Home of Unleash the Archers- doing us proud. Love them, and very glad you got the vibe too. Not that high on the charisma scale, but stunningly over-the-top on the talent balance. And Brittney Hayes (a.k.a. Brittney Slayes, so named by her fans)... singer and belter par exçellance. Peace and be safe, you and yours.
@@Necrowolf81 Necrowolf#1... 80 better than you because I know what "charisma" means. I LOVE UTA but that is not one of their many qualities. You want charisma- try Robert Plant or Leonard Cohen or Jimi Hendrix or Prince...
Another great reaction. I think you'd like a video to their song "Faster than light". The song is great and the video is (to me) funny and from what I've heard is based on the book "The Walk" by Stephen King.
If you liked that I have a suggestion for you. Ancient Bards Impious Dystopia.....think asia would love the vocalist in this band and all the musicians are incredible. There is a good video to this one as well...hope you guys check it out and have a great day!
Great reaction!! Brittney (the UTA lead singer) can sing Opera, watch her in this duet ua-cam.com/video/Txb0GV9PGl4/v-deo.html You just need to wait till minute 2:06 when they start singing.
Brittany is a total badass vocalist & yeah the band behind her is flawless!!! I have a song for you, not sure if you have reacted to it already but I guess we will see. Queensryche Take Hold Of The Flame live in Japan 1984 I believe it is & also I'll throw in Queen Of The Ryche from the same live concert. Great reactions as always
if you two get a chance check out her karaoke performance she did called britney slayes karaoke queen of the reich it was recorded in a bar at 130am after they had just done a show not perfect but still impressive and she was just having fun
This song makes me wanna charge into battle and and deliver a Stone Cold Stunner to EVERYONE. Unleash The Archers "Soulbound" and "Abyss" and "The Wind That Shapes The Land" are musts. 🏹 🏹 🏹
Awesome reaction once again! Love you guys! You should definitely check out their song "Northwest Passage" you get to hear the low range of her voice and parts of it are acapella. They are such a good band. I've been subscribed to you for awhile, but now I'm turning on the notifications. 👍
Since everyone is probably asking for the common Unleash The Archers song requests, ill shake it up a little. I chose these because obviously they are my personal favorites but also because I feel that these songs are just unleash the archers at their best(not saying they aren't good in the others im saying that im very biased lol and these are my cup of tea) City of Iron Tied to a stag False walls The matriarch Apex
Brittney is not only one helluva singer, she's also a super sweet human being. She truly likes and appreciates yt reactors and actually reaches out to some of them to thank them for what they're doing. 🤘🖤 ✌😎
Want to hear Britt really kick ass? There is a video of her doing karaoke in Edinburgh, Scotland. Keep in mind that this is after a show, she’s at least partially intoxicated, it is a crappy karaoke sound system, it’s recorded on a cell phone, and she still crushes it. As far as UTA videos, Cleanse the Bloodlines, Tonight We Ride, Abyss, and Faster than Light would all be great choices for another reaction.
I don't mean to stop stereotype you two musically but after watching some of your reactions I feel it's pretty safe to say that Asia did not listen to rock music before doing these reviews (not sure about BJ but wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't a big rocker either). It is so much fun watching reactors get exposed to new genres of music (particularly rock) and really start to appreciate them. Did you two ever think you would be listening to this type of music; let alone actually enjoying it? Kudos to both of you for keeping an open mind musically!
You should react to the singer Brittney Slayes singing Queen Of The Reich by Queensryche at a Karaoke Bar. Did not want to be the person trying to follow that performance 😁
To get a good idea of her vocal quality you can check out a slower song from them that is something of the unofficial Canadian national anthem: Northwest Passage.

if you like great drummers try - "alex rudinger - whitechapel - when a demon defiles a wytch" , you will have your mid blown away .
Now do yourself a favor and listen to the whole album Apex and it's follow-up Abyss for the whole story as these are a concept album chronicling the tale of The Matriarch and The Immortal
Great reaction, love love your enthusiasm and outlook you put in each of your reactions. Female singer... try Melody Cristea of the band Liliac (Lil-EEE-ack) which means "bat" in Romanian. She has a very unique rock/metal voice. Try original song (1 of their 19) "Mars" (Live) or try cover Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth. You wont be dissapointed. Keep em coming can't wait for your next reaction.
This band (and many others) should be selling out stadiums but the mainstream music juggernaut keeps these bands on the backburner. Especially in America.
P.S. Yes I know stadium concerts arent as fun/intimate as festivals and smaller shows. You guys get the gist of what I mean though
Crazy Lixx - Anthem for America asks just that question! What happened to America!? (Music that is) check it out :)
Unleash the Archers is timeless one of my fav metal bands for the past 5 years and my go to on pandora. Apex fuckin goooood too.
The wonderful and underrated world of Power Metal!
Just wait until y'all get to their song Tonight We Ride! Talk about belting some high notes...
Love this song so much. Brittney has a helluva voice on her that's for sure! Another great one Asia & BJ😊🥰
This times 1,000!!! My mind was blown the first time I heard "Awakening" but then I heard "Tonight We Ride."
I dunno, I think Cleanse the Bloodlines would make their heads melt
Love "Test Your Metal" for some high notes too
Love me some unleash the archers. They are some talented musicians. Can only imagine the amount of time put in to get that good.
I can never get enough of this song and watching people react to it the first time! always gets me more excited about it lol.
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME!
AWAKENING
To look up into the night's sky, to see the stars they are changed
To know a thousand years or more have passed, and I am the same
This mountain hollow that keeps me in a suffocating embrace
A prison and a safe haven, it's always been this way
Lo, a new master calls me to awakening, I know this one brings the end
Far out beyond the darkness I've been living in it's true, a whole new world awaits
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
My path begins with the new dawn; a voice is calling my name
It always starts as whispering then manifests to a scream
I'm drawn to the creature that wakes me, bound to them by the curse
My soul exists only to serve, a covenant of birth
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
Come to me, awakening
Follow my voice, come to me
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never
Lighting my way in the night
To roam; to never die
Never heard of this band. Thanks for reacting to it so I can check out more from these guys.
You absolutely will not be disappointed
DAMN! You have been hitting some absolute DYNAMITE songs lately!
Glad you found this one, from my fellow Canuckistanis! :)

You guys should listen to their song "Cleanse the Bloodlines" It's superrrr good! I hecking love Unleash the Archers. Defs one of my favorites.
That song and video give me chills. It was the first song I’d ever heard from UTA and still has the same effect on me. Wonderful band!
That intro had me thinking Pink Floyd, or even "Beat It". That was neither. That was 🔥. Thanks for introducing me. ❤
That guitar break in the middle straight 🔥 🔥 🔥🔥🔥. The entire bands is amazing. And Brittany her vocally ability brings this band together even more. Love this song. Time to go listen about 4-5 maybe 10 more times. Lol

Last time I heard music like that was in the late 90s early 00s during my middle school days when rock was starting to make another change again.
Check their cover of "Northwest Passage" which I feel her vocals really shine. And check "Heartless World".
Love this band
"Tonight We Ride", "Faster than Light", and "Abyss" would be great follow-ups. Also "Northwest Passage" will show another side of Brittney. Their videos are all pretty cool too.
They are just starting a US tour, maybe they will be near you to check out. Sept 15th Dallas texas
UTA! So glad you have found them. They are awesome! Enjoy what else is coming from them!
Asia, she can hit some notes that is on up there as well...🔥
this drummer is insane .
Thanks, this is a great band, more from them please
So glad you checked them out!!

Brittney clearly has an 18 charisma.
I don’t know who you’re talking about because this band has loads of charisma. Lol.
Only a complete and utter fool would say UTA doesn't have high charisma. Guess what that makes you.
Brittney (the UTA lead singer) can sing Opera, watch her in this duet ua-cam.com/video/Txb0GV9PGl4/v-deo.html
You just need to wait till minute 2:06 when they start singing.
Britney does a karoke cover of Queen of the Ryche. Video is on youtube.
Great reaction. Music brings us all together
Crazy talented Canadians
Such a great song.... I put that one in the epic category
Finally good metal band
more METAL!
Please check out Tonight We Ride or Cleanse the Bloodlines by them. Also she is trained, but in opera. ❤
Brittany slays. Is such amazing singer. Love unleash the archers. There so technically tight an the bass player does solos which isn't very common
This song is my triple shot of expresso with a Blue Mountain beancake chaser.
if you two get a chance check out her karaoke performance she did called britney slayes karaoke queen of the reich it was recorded in a bar at 130am after they had just done a show not perfect but still impressive and she was just having fun
The tempo is the "horse gallop" of power metal, makes you ready to ride!
can't believe no one suggested northwest passage
I chose these because obviously they are my personal favorites but also because I feel that these songs are just unleash the archers at their best(not saying they aren't good in the others im saying that im very biased lol and these are my cup of tea)
City of Iron
Tied to a stag
False walls
The matriarch
Apex
Brittney is not only one helluva singer, she's also a super sweet human being.
She truly likes and appreciates yt reactors and actually reaches out to some of them to thank them for what they're doing. 🤘🖤
✌😎
and does interviews with them. At least three that I know of.
That drummer is nutz
To get your full Canadian rock experience react to their cover of "The Northwest Passage" (OMV) 🦫
Queen of the Reich is the song in case you didn't know or remember.
The tempo you hear on the drums is the double bass!!!
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood (at "el mocambo)
It gets cold in Canada. This is how we keep warm.
Welcome to the UTA musical family! 👊
Your sound mix is on point
UTA's is the real deal. Brittney is probably the best Metal vocalist out there right now. I suggest their epic song "Cleanse the Bloodlines"..
If you liked this song just try Nothern Passage from Unleash the Archers it is awesome!
Just a note.. the drummer and singer are married and are so nice it's scary. lol
You guys should react to their song "The Wind That Shapes That Land" off their album Abyss. Best song on that album.
They're very talented, but when she started singing, I heard Iron Maiden.
I also suggest the band "Kobra and the Lotus".. fronted by another amazing female powerhouse Kobra Paige.
She's got a voice
You should react to the singer Brittney Slayes singing Queen Of The Reich by Queensryche at a Karaoke Bar. Did not want to be the person trying to follow that performance 😁
To get a good idea of her vocal quality you can check out a slower song from them that is something of the unofficial Canadian national anthem: Northwest Passage.
if you like great drummers try - "alex rudinger - whitechapel - when a demon defiles a wytch" , you will have your mid blown away .
Time Stands Still from these guys! 😎🤘
Stevie ray vaughn! Srv sound check or mary had a little lamb!
Check out Abyss! Both the album and song is fire!
Now do yourself a favor and listen to the whole album Apex and it's follow-up Abyss for the whole story as these are a concept album chronicling the tale of The Matriarch and The Immortal
Very cool!!! you gotta react to (abyss) and Definitely check out (the wind that shapes the land ) Britney is mind blowing in that song!!!
Hey yall you have to do a skillet reaction you will love that band.
Great Reaction!
It's like iron maiden and Dio had a daughter 🤘🤘🤘
I just hafta see these guys live!!!
Great band. The drummer isn't keeping up with the band, the band is keeping up with the drummers tempo.
You guys are cool. Thumbs up and subbed.
So great!
In this moment-wh⁰re
In this moment- big bad wolf
Please react to Cody Johnson" ain't nothin got nothing on you"🔥🔥🔥🔥
