Actually, Scott is wearing what are called "aqua socks." They are used to walk in water, and Scott uses them for grip on his double-kick bass drum pedals.
A good combo - Beth roars while Brittney slays. Both of whom seems so much nicer than their somewhat aggressive names.

Everytime i see this reaction on youtube, i always watch it. One of my favorite songs and one of my favorite female singers. I love seeing people hear this song for the first time because its always the same result.

There is a 20 chapter story told over their last 2 albums Apex(2017) and Abyss(2020). 10 chapters per album. This song Awakening is Chapter 1.

Legend has it that Bruce Dickinson and Ronnie James Dio conjured a daughter of Metal. They bestowed upon her the name of Brittney Slayes, and that is what she does.
I fully and wholeheartedly believe that Brittany is Dio's long lost daughter.

Hey Beth :) hope you are well! I'm so glad you checked these guys out I have followed them for years and they are one of the best acts I have ever seen. Brittney Slays is a fantastic singer and is super consistent live. I saw them play in Edinburgh and went to the Opium Club with them after where she preformed Karaoke with all her fans hahaha.
If you want to give another one of their songs a listen all their albums will blow you away but I recommend listening to "Apex" or "Matriarch" :)

Gratulation's Beth . You single-handedly described Britney's voice better than anybody else I have watched in the last two years.
She calls it her choir of Brittneys, I believe. Lots of layering to make it full and epic.

A lot of people are requesting other UTA songs but may I suggest the "Power Metal Opera Battle" she did with Fang from Lords of the Trident. 2 awesome vocalists flexing their skills in a style they don't normally get to preform with.

I always say she could replace Bruce in Maiden for a show or two and no one would be mad. Crazy talent.
I think you'd love Nora Louhimo. She also has that 80's rock vibe in her timbre, but full soprano. And she's sounds just as great live. Check her out someday.

As good as this band's cover of Northwest Passage is, the original is the one to react to. There's a reason Stan Rogers is still loved in Canada.

About time! Hehe, I (mostly) kid. Brittney sang some opera in a youtube video recently, and of course there's UtA's amazing cover of Canadian folk classic "Northwest Passage" (original by the legendary Stan Rogers). Plus they just getting better and even more musically interesting with each passing album, and the last couple have been concept albums as well, one big story spanning both.

you mentioned the singer being a source of calm over the action-packed sounds the intruments make. In Powermetal i like to think of the Instrumentals as a stormy sea. Very Energetic, powerful, sometimes seems chaotic on the surface, but very orderly within. It demands your respect and fear, yet it can feed you. The Vocalist is just a very capable sailing vessel on top if it thats mastering all that power with bravour, battling through the mountainous waves with calm within
Love to see you come back to metal from time to time. It's a bit of a lark, but I hope to see you react to Gloryhammer performing "Gloryhammer" at Wacken 2019. Really interesting vocal performance I think you'd like, if you can see past the band being in costume.

Britney Slayes vocal range in crazy. She has a range from C#3 (which is the C# an octave below middle C) to D6 (which is the D two octaves above middle C).
Just a few days ago there was a video released where she does a collaboration of Brandisi and it is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Cleanse the Bloodlines is my favorite UTA song, and the video is absolutely one of the greatest music videos I have ever seen. The cinematography, the scenery, the acting, the storyline, everything, it's a mini movie! If you're new to UTA, watch it!

So I actually found this song a couple weeks ago and since then I've been binge listening to all their music and I have to say they are an absolutely amazing band. I would highly recommend giving some of their other songs a listen. The Matriarch, Legacy, Ten Thousand Against One, Call Me Immortal, Ripping Through Time, Carry The Flame, and Cleanse The Bloodlines are among my favorites.

There are very few bands that get me to buy there entire discography after only listening to one song, this was one of them.

I think the person(s) that do the recording, editing, and overall production of her voice deserves a lot of credit. They do a lot of laying and effects. In some cases that would be a bad thing by diluting the singer or serving to cover the singers inability. But in this case, despite a lot of stuff going on in post production with her voice, it very much compliments her without getting in the way or feeling like its being used as a crutch. She has a good enough voice where she doesn't technically need all the effects and layering to sound good but they clearly wanted a studio sound that now human can naturally produce so they just masterfully took all her best abilities and perfectly accented them.
If you do another please please do Legacy. The vocal layers she does on that song are otherworldly.
Apex is a great album. I still get chills listening to it.
Definitely check out their songs "Soulbound" and "Tonight We Ride".
About her voice.. She told in an interview that she sang Alto in choir for many years.. So that may be the darker thing you hear in her voice.. But she can belt crazy high too. Wikipedia says she has 4oktave range...
