The Spurs are not trading for a 36 year old who can't make the playoffs. Butler isn't going to listen to Pop either. This is a zero percent chance of happening. Do people remember this is the best front office in the NBA? They aren't trading for a star unless its Luka Doncic
Butler is 34. But I get your point. This trade would make no sense at all. For once, the Spurs need a true PG, not another wing... They will surely get another wing in the draft, as well as a PG for the future. But if the future is supposed to be now, they need a PG that helps immediately.
Btw... no way in hell we ever give up Luka. But even if the hell freezes over... we would more likely take less, but trade him out of the West. You know... like you guys did with Kawhi... 😉
@@Smido83 I think the Spurs have never and will never be "the future is now" team. Not the style of the organization. Also if we learned anything, any star can be traded if he asks to be traded. Spurs were willing to take less to trade Kawhi, not something I would recommend with Luka. It did lead to the Spurs being unable to compete for real for 5 years and this rebuild they are in now
The spurs are absolutely not trading Sochan, let alone three firsts for an aging and increasingly antagonistic Jimmy butler. As much as I believe that the heat and spurs have a similar winning culture, I think a more fitting trade is Zach Collins, Malaki Branham, 8th overall pick and another first for Jimmy
I'm a Spurs fan and also a fan of Jimmy Butler. However, no way do the Spurs do a trade like that. I wouldn't even trade Sochan for Butler straight up. Sochan is untouchable. He's only 21, and the Spurs already invested two years with his development. He is going to be an important part of the Spurs future. He most likely won't be a star, but he's going to be our glue guy/enforcer that'll hold the team together.

I think a lot of these spurs trade talks are kinda silly, and I think a lot of it has to do with everyone BUT the spurs wanting them to rush things and try to make "win now" moves. It's dumb bc they as a franchise have never wanted to rush anything. They get wemby and everyone is trying to make the case they they need to hurry up and make things happen. Why would they give up two solid players for an aging Jimmy Butler? That has to be one of the silliest trades that has been propoded.

The Pelicans need a point guard...sure. But they also need a good coach. That was their issue. No, they shouldn't trade Brandon Ingram for Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter and a first round pick. What they should do is try to get Isaiah Hartenstein, Precious Achiwua or Jericho Sims at center. If they want a passing guard, they could try to trade for Tyus Jones or Immanuel Quickley. As for shooting...they could go for Caris LeVert, Jalen Green, Pascal Siakam (free agent), and Miles Bridges.

@@Enlightened_SpursFan i see you're a spurs fan, so you probably have an inflated view of Keldon Johnson and Sohan. They're mid to low rate players, and you guys have a lot of picks. It's honestly not a bad trade. Getting Jimmy and possibly trading for Trae Young as well would INSTANTLY put you guys in contention for a title. It's a way better package for Miami than any of the other potential Jimmy trades I've seen, just like he says in the video.
As a Cavs fan I hope we go ahead and trade Donovan Mitchell & Jarrett Allen. Garland is less effective playing with Mitchell. Mobley is less effective playing with Allen. The amount we could get back for those 2 would be HUGE we could get star power, depth, plus draft picks. I know we probably won't trade em but it would be great if we did.

Terrible, terrible trade for the spurs but incredible for the heat if they could just mesmerize the entire spurs front office. That Ingram trade is the least bad I would say, but the rest are ridiculous. Trading for an old Butler when you have a young superstar and not much depth is idiotic. Trae Young is worth a lot more, as these 3 young players are just not that good. And Nets would have to be crazy to trade for an expiring Mitchell who would certainly leave after a year.
No...the Spurs shouldn't do that deal. Jimmy Butler is good but his age is an issue. Plus he's been getting injured quite a bit. No...the Spurs should go after at least 3 of these guys: Pascal Siakam (free agent), Andre Drummond, Jericho Sims, Mitchell Robinson (Popovich can turn him into the 2nd coming of Tim Duncan), Collin Sexton, Obi Toppin, Kyle Kuzma, D'Angelo Russell (I believe Popovich can fix his inconsistency), Miles Bridges, Malcolm Brogdon, Jaden Ivey, Darius Garland, Lauri Markannen or Trae Young (yes...Popovich can fix him & turn him into the 2nd coming of Tony Parker).
The only way spurs do that is if they believe Victor is going to deliver a championship in 1-3 years and shi it might be realistic

Sometimes, if everyone's ubiquitously agreeing that something is moronic, you might want to consider that there could actually be a good reason why.
In this instance, it's because it would be yet another grossly shortsighted _"win now"_ move that - on top of everything else - does not at all gel with how the Spurs operate. It's a trade proposal so immensely silly and unserious, that even advocating for it borderline comes off like an attempt at sabotaging the franchise, lol.

Na, the better move for the Spurs would be to package both the 4th and 8th pick for either the no1 or no2 pick.
Right now that would mean they get either Sarr or Risacher.
They need to stack players on the same timeline as wemby. Butler is too far. What they want is good players from the 2019-2023 draft classes. They kind of need to pull of what the pacers did will Halliburton.

Bro averaged 14 points with 25% from 3 and 34% from the field in the playoffs. Playoff stats like that will make your entire season horrible. His trade value is still high, they should move him right now or his value will go down.

The magic won't give up 3 good young players AND 3 1st round picks for trae young. Trae young is great don't get me wrong, but he's due 200+ mil in the next 4 years and is a defensive liability. The magic would value dejounte more than trae. Way cheaper, can play defense, have length and can play off-ball. We lack offensive firepower yes but that'll come as our young guys develop. Taking in a black hole like trae would disrupt that development
