You mentioned aluminum arrows are not rated a spine stiffness, they don’t print it on the arrow but you can look them up on Easton charts and get a stiffness number if needed.
Like you said they are pretty stiff so we normally just load the arrow up with point weight.
    Nice video

Thank you I'd been seeking basic information on where to start with outdoor/ target arrow, field archery arrows. Websites, other Videos went into the maths, the science, the woods and never really answered the Question. At 7:05 You did & then some naturally. Excellent!

The diameter explanation was very helpful as it is so confusing👍🏼

If you have found out, the 23 or 27 refers to 64ths of an inch. 23/64” = .359” diameter. The wall thickness (2nd two digits) refers to 1000ths of an inch thickness. So, 2315s are .359” in diameter and .015” wall thickness.

Shooting 3D now and bought six of the Black Eagle P23’s. I had been using my hunting FMJ’s and, while those are great for hunting, I was at a disadvantage shooting 3D.

Well done. You mentioned F.O.C. without explaining. I video I watched before yours was about F.O.C. so I knew, but just suggesting.

Im going the broke route. Since I cant afford to have more than one bow, let alone niche arrows, I need to figure out an all rounder arrow. I have a Xpedition bow shooting at just over 60# with a 28in draw. Using Victory Vforce arrows now. Considering the VAP TKO as my all rounder.

Just to give people an idea, I'm pretty sure the 2315 works out at about 360 spine and the 2712 is around 260 spine.

The ultimate decision is whether you want lines or not. If you have bad form, and especially with the 27/64ths, that spine isn't going to be the optimal forgiveness for bad form even if you're putting 300grains on the front. If you make a good shot however, the results will be the same whether you use stiff arrows or the recommended spine based on your charts.

Great information in the video brother . I'm fairly new to competitive archery and just had a set of superdrive 23s built for me last week for indoor and 3D this spring . They were built with 90 grain points , 28.25" arrows total length . I just got my new Mathews TITLE 38 and it's at 56 lbs right now . Do you think that the points should be just a little heavier like 120-130 or is 90 ok for my setup ?I have a 27.5" draw length and YESSSSS I'M A LEFTY AS WELL !!!! I just bought a CARTER CHOCOLATE LITE thumb release but I also use a Truball HBC flex hinge. Do you think that the thumb release is better for outdoor 3D shoots ? Just curious . I'm a little bit more accurate with the Carter thumb right now . I switch off when I get too punchy. Anyway , thank you very much for taking the time to read this and if you get time I'd love to hear your feedback especially concerning the arrow point weight . I appreciate your time brother !! STAY LEFT!!! Lyle

Interesting. What do you think of Easton FMJ Match arrows? I am an advocate of using heavier arrows for long distance World Archery target format, because heavier arrows generate more kinetic energy and momentum that can resist the wind better than using small and lightweight arrows for speed and trajectory.
My only problem with that arrow is it did not come in spine weak enough for my #40 barebow; as the result I use 2014 X7 Eclipse aluminum arrows and it gives be good result at 50m. Very often I do not have to aim off the target when the wind comes in, so I think it can be even better with FMJ Match that has 4mm size but heavier in GPI than X10.

I'm working on building a target bow set up. I'm wanting to get into a few different categories of target shooting. The bow hunter class has to have a screw in point. What does that change as far as diameter goes? Plus can not be larger than 23mm. I was looking at the black eagle 23mm arrows but I'm not sure if I can get a screw in point for that shaft. Any thoughts or suggestions or recommendations for me? Thanks man love you're channel. I hunt with 4mm arrows so this is a big change for me lol

Hi , I usually shoot Gold Tip 500 trad arrows, field archery, however we're told we can't shoot carbon arrows on the sports field now. I want to change to Easton Legacy aluminium because it has a trad look, could you suggest the size for aluminium arrows that are roughly on a par with a 500 spine? I would be bareshaft tuning anyway . Many thanks for the video it was well explained
