    You guys are so good at this. I'm absolutely hooked on your channel now, it's so informative but in a really easy relaxed way. I tuned in to watch 'another sailing channel' but this is so much more. Fantastic. Can I swap my tedious life in the UK for yours !!!!!!!! Keep up the great work 👍

    About the 3rd or 4th time watching these episodes, hope that's not too creepy but I see something new every time. There is such a wonderful "vibe" to them, almost spiritual. You guys should win awards for what you do. OK back to Tassie now!

      Thanks Richard. A few commenters are enjoying the music selection so we think we may have quite a bit in common with a lot of our audience- which is great!
      We are looking into Patreon now as quite a few people have asked us to set up an account. We will announce it later as it comes to life but we want to make sure that we can return peoples generosity with good value information and entertainment.

    Thank you both for this spectacular virtual journey up to the Mitchell Falls ! Not many people get to explore such a place. Takes me back to many such places I was once fortunate to explore with my then travelling partner, ie Tassie coast and rivers!. CFS/ME has had me semi housebound for the past 14 years, but I hope to get out travelling (on land) once again in the hopefully not too distant future. (Found your channel recently, via other vlogs, (as I dream....) and have now found the beginnings of your series, and it is Great summer/wet weather veiwing alternative to mainstream tv offerings, as I crochet my winter series of beanies for Alice Springs Beaniefest), so Thank you, I still have heaps to watch

    A little hint about the finish of your lures. When you buy them new, just lightly scuff them up with steel wool or scotch bright . Then get some 2 part epoxy and give them a coat . The paint will last longer than untreated lures. You can do it with spoons as well. If you really want to get fancy add some fine sparkles to the epoxy when you mix it up. It will give them a custom finish . After you coat them hang them strait up by the front loop. Oh take the hooks off before you put on the epoxy. Your videos are absolutely beautiful and very interesting.Cheers from Ontario Canada.

    • @FreeRangeLiving
      @FreeRangeLiving  6 років тому +1

      I reckon that's a very good idea for our troll gear. They get hit very hard. When they get a hole in them, I drill them to get the water out and then cost them with epoxy. Just a small additional step to do what you recommend. Cheers mate

    If I am ever lucky enough to visit the Kimberley region, I will be sure to bring your videos for a safety guide.....what a wonderful area. Those Barramudi are a great game fish and I'd love to hook some. Neat idea on anchoring a dingy in a large tidal range. Thanks again for an awesome video.....

    • @FreeRangeLiving
      @FreeRangeLiving  7 років тому +1

      Thank you Ed. We only fish for food so we stop at one Barra a day or two but that river was a Barramundi fishermans paradise. Before Pascale landed that fish, we had both hooked and lost two others in about half an hour of effort. Just fish the last hour of the run out tide and focus on small gutters and you will get onto some.

    Beautifully shared master lessons about true aussie bushmencraftship, exploring seafaring and also remarkable inventive and skills about camera work.
    There is a say in spanish, telling that true happiness involves sharing.
    I can understand that this joy of exploring these amazing landscapes can be double by sharing it with us, the spectators around the world.
    You two are a brave couple with a lot to teach.
    I am also increasing interested about your on-board food and supply planning, as I see you have mastered the art of extending your cruise in remote areas by using local resources together with some long shelf live stuff such as grain to be milled on spot.
    Maybe in another chapter you can tell us more about your tricks to remain so selfsufficient.
    Best regards to both and fair winds "buenos vientos"
    Julio

    • @FreeRangeLiving
      @FreeRangeLiving  7 років тому +6

      Muchas gracias Julio. You are 100% right that sharing doubles the pleasure from the experience. Also, we're really pleased by the audience we have attracted- you all seem like people we would really get along well with.
      We are planning to do more 'how-to' videos based on requests such as yours, so we welcome any feedback. I have done a few ocean crossings and provisioning for 'going around the world' isn't that hard because you will see shops again every few weeks. We provisioned for six months and stuffed it into a 9 meter boat so we will try and put something together for you, just give us a little time and stay tuned!

    Excellent, caught a croc (accidentally) in a lagoon in Cape Vidal SA..20 mins of rolling around before I cut him loose....no fish that day!! ;-(. Also went fly fishing one night in a lake in the Eastern Transvaal for trout and got tipped by a hippo..never been that petrified before or since. The things we do for some tucker... Really enjoy your hard work and production of these episodes, very informative and the vistas rock. Fair winds..

    Tip to try: for better selfie stick footage, try hanging the camera below the stick for more stability in your shots. The weight of the camera will provide a dampening effect to movements, similar to a stabilizer.

    If i got to that river mouth the first thing i would do would be to steel pascals frying pan and started digging out that river features where their was round holes, first i would dig out the big rocks and then started gold panning, 1 small nugget and hay presto! you have just filled your fuel tanks for free. Im sure there would be a couple big pickers in them small cracks up & down that falls,

      Geez, it never occurred to me to sniff around for some gold. We don't have space for a detector on our wee boat but what you say has some merit. There are rivers in Nth Queensland that run through gold bearing country and have freshwater upper reaches. I'll poke around in a few if the crocs let me and praise you heartily if I get a strike.

    You should be being paid by WA tourism guys!! Big respect for the filming quality and a special aknowledgement for your boat and bush craft. You know the best part? you both look like your having a ball of a time!!! Rock on!!!
    One small question... what are the bushy things hanging from the sidestays for? Just curious. Hey Pascale thumbs up for the recipes... could almost smell the Barra cooking on the rocks!!
    Be good guys.
    Leon.

      I think the bushy things are chaff protection for the sails.

      Leon, sounds like we need you as our manager. As john points out, they are chafe protection for the main sail and are called Baggywrinkle. It's a very traditional use for old damaged rope.

    When you altered that video mode it made me wonder is there any halucinagenic plants or fungi native to Australia?
