A minute? Hell, you had it covered in the first 5 seconds...
😂😂😂
Exactly 😂😊
throw it away?
This is the stuff real gear heads want to watch.
The best part is when I stick the Gum Out tube in a passage that redirects the spray 180 deg into my face. Then blinded and in agony search for a garden hose.
😵🤣🤣
One of the best tutorial videos I've ever come across. Didn't feel like skipping ahead at any time for once
So simple when a professional explains it. All kidding aside, these things really are this easy to adjust or repair.
ive taken apart a million edelbrocks and that was the bestest how to video ive ever seen ...my favorite UTG video so far
You know, after working on a lot of imports with EFI, this concept of simply changing the thickness of a rod to adjust the fuel mixture sounds pretty nice. These old school guys might be onto something.
Honestly, EFI is massively overrated. Carbs are basically "fire and forget". Never have to worry about a corroded connection or faulty sensor triggering "limp home" mode. It was nothing back in the day to drive a car 10-20 years without having to do anything to the fuel system other than, maybe, replacing a $15 pump that was bolted right to the side of the engine. As soon as my car is too old for emissions testing I'll be ripping out the entire engine and dropping in a carb'd "antique".
@@johnterpack3940 overrated until your car doesn’t start and you have not a mechanical bone in your body 😂
@@poindextertunes If you don't have a mechanical bone in your body, good luck fixing EFI when your car doesn't start. The great thing about carburetors is that they rarely fail. And old-school systems have fewer moving parts to diagnose.
@@poindextertunes Huh? 🤨
EFI is GARBAGE
No wasting time with needless introductions and dialogue. Just pure and quick fixes to issues. Perfect! THANK YOU!
The best day of my life was when I got my first edelbrock 600cfm carb on a sbc I had years ago! I honestly thought every carb had to be constantly fucked with and adjusted like a holley until I got it! everything I owned before that was quadrapukes or holleys. What I don't like about edelbrock is that they will straight up tell you that they will not make certain parts because holley has them available and they work well enough that there isn't a need for edelbrock to improve it yet. Like replacement efi systems for certain trucks.
All 3 brands of carbs can work well if you take the time to tailor them to meet your needs .
AMEN - To hell with holley carbs.
@@centralbears3010 Holleaky and Thermofloods, let you down every time and twice on track day.
Not sure why you kept having to keep fuck with and adjust your Holley carburetors constantly, I haven't had them go out of adjustment and I've ran several over the years. No leaks, either. A fuel pressure regulator set to 4-5 PSI eliminates about 99% of carburetor going out of adjustment issues.
This video is sickly fun, even laughing after seeing it 10 times. I have been sharing it with car guys I know. I still laugh .. 🤣🤣🤣
Miss these types of videos. Simple, informative and funny. Wish you would do more. Love the channel.
By far one of my fave UTG vids.
An instant gear head classic!
Edelbrock carburators are a learning experience. If you're stuck using one, love challenging yourself or physics than they're fun. So are a lot of obscure carburators too. If it needs to be done, work as intended and reliability install good Holley.
Best minute I spent on youtube. Thanks, brother!
I keep a half of carb parts in glove box. Thanx for like
I watched a lot of your other videos first and this one made the most sense lol amazing video.
Seeing the loose parts on your table reminded me of my first carb rebuild at 13 years old. I had a few parts left over....
Enjoyed the video!
DAMMIT BOY! I could just follow you around and I would be able to pick up enough parts to build a car. I love these videos.
🤣🤣🤣 this was the most entertaining and hilarious vid that I think I’ve ever seen Uncle Tony do! Love how you just toss all the parts all over the place! Lol. Great info, in under a minute! 🤣
This help me a lot. Since the edelbrock carb I got has been sitting for 3 years and probably went to all shit fuck
i love it awsome video.I learned some thing i never knew why my af mixture wouldnt work on one side.
You are a legend
who IS that young guy? Definitely an early UTG video, not a single "like I sez"! The humble beginnings of one of my favorite UA-camrs!
Edelbrocks/Carter AFBs are fantastic carbs for a set-it-and-forget-it driver or mild street driven performance engine. I'm sticking with a 4 circuit annular booster Quick Fuel for my race car, though. I ran an Eddy 750 on the 460 in my old F-250 for over a decade, and it was a 1 second crank and fire almost every day. The only reason it was replaced was because Edelbrocks suck terribly for offroad, and they'll flood like crazy when you get off camber. 5 minutes of eye stinging fuel cloud when hill climbing was enough for me to get a Moates Ostrich emulator and the TBI setup off of a late 80s 454. After some modification, it was up and running, and I ran that for another 10 years with far more effort put into it than the Edelbrock ever got, but offroading was so much better. (A Sniper or Atomic EFI TBI would have been easier by far, but they didn't exist yet)
I'm a fan of EFI, but not every car or truck needs it. I see guys swap to EFI only to drive a classic 500 miles per year, tops. It's your money. You'll never wear that engine out any time soon, or lose any real power, by running a carburetor.
Straight to the point!
This was a great video.
Best Edelbrock carb video ever
that is brilliant dude
The most instructional video on UA-cam in 1 min ever
Im a pretty big fan of using welding tip cleaners for my carburetor. Any size you need is right there.
Hahah. Oh man. I learned it all in one minute. That's for sure!
Think you missed one! Years back when they first bought out Carter afb, I hooked the fuel and vacuum backwards on my first Edelbrock!
LOL, damn near did this today, Thanks, needed that help.
I have my car because of Tony. I love this old video.
Classic UT gold.
Greetings, I have the 1409 Edelbrock carb on both of my inboard boats with 351w. they both used to start on the fist bump when the engine is warm. Now both require about 4-5 rotations to start up now, could this be caused by the crappie gas now?
That covers it. Nothing simpler than a Carter AFB or AVS. Nothing easier to tune. Run fine out of the box, but the "Strip Kit" of jets and metering rods you can do even better. You can do a lot with this carb without removing the base section from the manifold.
I'll second that. The best carburetors to work on and tune up - anybody can see how those things carburet and how to rebuild them. Those old AFB velocity valves are like the fountain of my youth.
Epic video Can’t wait to learn how you rebuild it after that fix 😂
Hi from down under australia. I remember buying a brand new one like 1993 because there were quite a few edelbrock manifolds around. The butterfly shafts were so loose in the housing made it just totaly un reliable and unusable. Got a holly 650 double pumper. Fixed.
Thank you!!!
Uncle tony wit the signature cigarette
my carb is running rich and this just gave me a couple things to try. I really don’t want to have to change the jets as the next step down is the last. if changing the springs rods doesn’t work. I try the jets and if that doesn’t work I’ll install a regulator? seems like everything went to 💩 when it got cold
Hey Tony, I have a question about a Quick Fuel Holley HR-680. I live at 5200' elevation and this new carb runs horrible. I have it on a 350-crate engine with a mild cam and it floods at idle. Will a 4.5 power valve cause this? I'm thinking that maybe a 6 might be better?
Thanks, great video. Now I just need to find the same tutorial for the Thermoquad, but that might be a two minute video.
Hello, I have my Edelbrock carb mounted and when I go to pump it no gas gets to the carb I can see because my fuel filter is clear and it’s dry and I have a new fuel pump on there
LMFAO!!! Shmutz, definitely a technical term your sure to find in any Chiltons manual! I love it!!!
Shmutz is from the Yiddish language (German and Hebrew), it means dirt.
the only reason I watch UTG..in under a minute
Computer shorted out on my 86 f150 so i just dropped the money and converted it over to a 4 barrel edelbrock. Best decision ive made in a while.
i had an 86 f150 - that would have been a good plan for that truck. wish i'd done it
@@thatbiguy1975 i went form guzzling gas and having no power. To gettin at least 15 mpg and more get up and go then i ever had with efi. The best part is now when it wont start i can fix the damn thing within the day and the parts i need are cheaper and at the parts house on hand.
That my Freind had me laughing
I just put a new 5.8 in my 85 bronco. Idles fine but in drive it stumbles and backfires. Is it timing or should I look somewhere in the Edelbrock?
Uncle Tony , my sbc 305 just pooped on me after like 15 minutes of being off .
Stock carb , took of the filter and when I crank to start I can see the carb splashing fuel .
What a great video
I have a old Carter 750 competition series I'm rebuilding for my '67 charger
Thank you
Here from Sunday night live tonight!
Awesome!!!
Love it. But my car came to me with a 1404, and I've never been happy with it.
That wier brush trick is gold
This was a GREAT effin' video 🤣 But seriously, that's why as a "street" guy, I have enjoyed my Edelbrock stuff.
Set it and forget it.
That was hilarious but to the point. 😂
You rock
Seen two different ones leak down over night. Any ideas Tony?
Amazing
They've got a terminal velocity of about .8 metres per second before you replace them with a hHolley
Good man
Still my favorite video!!!!
Would you consider reuploading this as a short? It would be good for your channel as I understand the system is weighted right now.
Thanks
Where do you connect the electric choke to?
Tony I have an edelbrock 600 on a 318 360 heads big cam . runs good but rich at idle
Assuming the carb has unclogged idle passages and that you're not running on the transfer slots, I'd say it's just a lack of low rpm cylinder pressure. Not much you can do there...maybe advance the cam a few degrees?
@@UncleTonysGarage thanks tony, I'll check connections
How do you adjust an edelbrock 800 cfm with electric choke for a car with a big muthr thumbr cam in it running way to rich after the electric choke is off bbc
Made me laugh sooo much......now lets get my carb run nice...
What year is your dart?
There is a carb on fleabay with bent butterfly's. Is it you UT???
What a hoot!🤣👌
I had the 1407 on my cammed 350. Ran like crap. Put a Holley 750 double pumper and it felt like I gained 20hp.
Gotta be the stunt carb.
CLAsSiC✊🏼
All jokes aside, if you do heavy off reading, the hollies don't like being bumped around like that. Never had a problem off roading with edelbrock
Ok thanks
Fuck yea thanks man thicker rod gotcha
Lol. Funny and informative.
That Was Easy !
Check out Nick's Garage he has Mopars it's on UA-cam. Cool to watch
I think he had fun doing this..in that way.
Original 64 sport fury. 383 4speef
Badass
I liked the very first thing you did....toss it! While the Eldebrocks are nice for a daily or low hp engine, I like Holleys for performance.
There are a bunch of seriously fast Stock, Super Stock and F.A.S.T cars out there using AFB style carbs. Sometimes you just have to double them up!
@@UncleTonysGarage very true, hell some people swear by Quadrajets....
Eldebrocks work just as good as a holley as long as it's set up right there is no real difference holley is just easier to set up
Mike Hagen When you go to a car cruise in, look at all the Holleys that have gas stains that ran down onto the intake. You won’t see that with an Edlebrock carb. I have had both and found that Holleys are more troublesome, but they are better for high performance racing.
@@MrLike2surf pretty much what I stated, but my Holleys all looked/look good with minimal maintenance. Maybe someone who constantly adjusts float settings for whatever reason.. I like the Eldebrocks for cruising around on a mild motor, and would prefer them on a dual carb setup, but I have had very good experiences with my Holleys, maybe because I was fortunate enough to know the local guru, and I invested in good literature.
I have an Edelbrock carb and have wanted to smash it with a sledgehammer since day one
The application of Hydrozene to a lit Booster will increase the orbital lob of the Edelbrock 4bbl. The specific thrust is higher. For more info, see "Ignition!", By John D. Clark. Rocket Scientist....
I threw my Edelbrock over my shoulder and spread the parts all over the shop floor and now it runs MINT!!
N.dakota some gems up here. I'm only talking. To u cud I subdddd. N I wanna work for u
You too funny....MOPAR 4 EVER.
Throw it away and buy a Holley? 😅
There is medication for that delusion.
🤙
Stuck a 440 n 7727 n got to fast for ticket to ride. Broke. 10s n more compliance. Pa says na. To expensive
Edelbrock carb slap it on adjust a little good to go 🔥🇺🇸🔧🚘🏇🔴👍🇺🇸
Lmao good one👍🍻
Lol, this is a classic.
Forget those old Chrysler service manuals - _this_ is how it's done.
