Nice trout and smallmouth are a bonus!
I have never finished that lake before but I am definitely going to get over ther and give it a go
Always cool to see you catch the fish you're targeting! Wonder what that one that came off was 🤔
My guess is it was a big smallmouth but yeah that's just a guess based on how it was fighting!
Its a nice one when they have that double chin!
I see you got 1K 🎉
Why are you letting it go
Dude theres some serious trout in that lake i always release everything above 22"
When did you go out fishing? I’ve been thinking about going since the weather has been decent. Not sure if I want to launch the kayak.
This was December 19. Water temps were 44 and I assume are still around there. It's nice to have the lake basically all to yourself. There was one other kayaker out there and a few shore anglers but that's it!
Would you say a fish finder is critical to being able to catch these fish? I live in the area and have a kayak, but not the fish finder yet.
It helps like crazy but you could do it blindly too. If I didn't have a fish finder, I would go to the corners of the dams and let the drop shot hit bottom before reeling up a few feet. Then drift around and hope you make contact with them. If I didn't get bit I would keep moving around experimenting with different depths and once you get a fish I'd probably sit in that area for a while. It seemed like the trout were all around each other so if you caught one there were more nearby. Hope that helps!
Awesome thanks for the response. Maybe I’ll see you out there one day!!
I’ve never fished horse tooth I want to but need to get me a kayak or a boat first
It's a fun place to fish and the scenery is great! Gets too crowded in the summertime but the rest of the year it's quite peaceful
I think you have an incorrect link to the plastic bait used on your dropshot rig. It doesn't look the same as the one in your video.
Got it fixed! Thanks for the catch!
