The whole “Hysteria” album was years ahead of its time and will forever be one of the best rock albums.
I heard someone say once that Hysteria was an Original Greatest Hits album. :) They had a LOT of monster hits on that album.
@@TheAngryPacifist05 And some pretty great tracks that ended up on Adrenalize that were not picked for Hysteria... Mutt definitely had them on a creative roll...
Love this album. My favorite
Best album ever full stop all the tracks awesome my daughter was born in 88 this her fav album admit it was played in the car so much
I would have to agree Derek. B I have the Hysteria album
This whole album is fire
Straight fire. Makes me miss the good ol' days :)
THAT IT IS!!!!!
First album I ever bought...I was maybe 11. A masterpiece
Actually, it’s fire in the hot garbage sense.
Only album I have ever felt was pretty much hit songs all through the album from first to last . Usually you get maybe 1 or 2 hits , then a bunch of filler on an album .
Always loved the chorus of this song. Def Leppard is such a recognizable band. One of my favorite bands of all times.
That was a great concert I was there when they filmed it it's in Denver Colorado. And for the record I love how far you guys have come . I have followed you the last year and I'm so proud of you
Yep, same here! I've been waiting for this one!
If you want a great chorus..."WOMEN" is a great song. I've been waiting for that one.
I don't think I'd ever consider Def Leppard as an underrated band. They have a huge following all over the world.
Probably not, but they do get a lot of flack from "serious" metalheads who think they sold out and became too commercial over the years.
I agree Nancy - They do get a lot of flack and some hate them for their style. But I think they are phenomenal! Stylistically- musically! They are AMAZING !
@@charissakington606 I agree with all of that! They are one of my all-time favorite bands.
Sold over 100 million records
Def Leppard seems to be one of those bands that guys and girls both really loved back in the 80s
There were always naysayers. Somehow, if a band is popular w/ girls, many guys back then dismissed it as a chick band. Especially purist metalheads.
Yep, and hardcore British rockers pretend not to like them, but would catch them tapping their feet if a Def Leppard song was played.
@@jp3813I remember a lot of male fans saying they “sold out” back in the day because this album sounded more like electric pop than Pyromania. IMHO they don’t understand the sound had to change to more of synth vibe to keep Rick Allen in the band after he lost his arm and had to go to electronic drums. Of course the sound is going to change, but I always loved it.
@@chandlerwhite8302 Same thing happened among Metallica fans w/ the more radio-friendly Black Album.
”Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad” is a lovely song by Def Leppard.
Yes!best song on that album....
Absolutely!!!!
Yesssss
Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad…you’re welcome:)
"LET'S GET ROCKED" and "TOO LATE FOR LOVE" are two more of their great songs.
@The Stormblooper the latter then
Back then I was too busy drinking and partying to really appreciate their truly great voices, harmonies and artistry. I also love the way they all seem to actually like each other :-)
.....Ditto.
This
Every song on that album was a winner!
One of the reasons I really love Def Leppard is that they're a true 'band'. It's not all about Joe.
Pretty much every member of the band is considered a focal point, they all get their stage presence out there, and they all are the show...not any one person. It's something I've always strived for in bands, and had only once or twice out of many, many tries. :-)
Good observation!
Hey guys, , to me, Hysteria is far and away the biggest selling CD from Def Leppard!! There really aren't any "bad" songs on it!! Six top 20 hits including 4 top 10s(this song peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 in 1989)!! Truly a gem of a CD and this band showed the ultimate in camaraderie by waiting for Rick Allen to come back so that they could finish it as a group!!!!!
I had tried for months to get tickets to Def Leppard in Dallas from this tour. They were on stage the night I turned 17. Night of the show my mom handed me 2 floor seat tickets in an envelope and said Happy Birthday son , just come home tonight before 3am.
so frigging cool man! glad you got to go! I bet there were lots of pretty gals that night!
That's a great memory! I'm the same age as you then. Miss this era!! Saw them last week. They were so good!
Def Leppard was initially driven by a great riff master guitarist and songwriter that sadly passed away after the album Hysteria. RIP STEVE CLARK!!! Like a great piece of jewelry, they lost a beautiful unique centerline, that you can replace, but it will never be the same...
This song has incredible energy. Favorite band of the 80's.
I feel like "Armageddon It" was Rick Savage's turn to shine. Every part of this song oozes the groove created by his bass. Solid!
Def Leppard is hands down one of my favorite bands. "Gods of War" is another great tune of theirs you should check out.
100% Gods of War!
Also my favourite band and favourite song..
I wrote pretty much the exact same comment as you then saw your comment so I deleted mine 😂
God's of war is a must!!
@@sarablack2547 Absolutely!
@@luketraill2127 Yes!! I love this song! This song is too often overlooked. Oh man, you should have kept it. It's more support for this fantastic song by this awesome band!
Def Leppard is just a great band all around. They are great guys and put on a hell of a concert and they don't have a bad song.
Steve Clark was pure genius on that guitar. Gone too soon. Sleep in eternal peace Steve.
Just saw them in concert yesterday! Along with Motley Crue/Poison/Joan Jett. It was rockin 🤘🎸
I also recommend Rocket by Def Leppard. Great song and a great vibe!
That bridge into the chorus hook is masterful.
Steve Clark is why i picked up a guitar in 1984. R.I.P Steve Clark
"Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad", and "Tonight" should be reacted to by Def Leppard
RIP Steve Clark! So was probably the last of his many great solos.
And a fine little guitar solo by the great Steve Clark! I wish he was still with us, as do many others
Steve Clark’s featured guitar solo…. Golden! RIP Steve!
This is is Steve Clark at his best with this guitar solo. Every time I hear the solo I think of him and how his loss affected music. He was gone too soon. He was one of the greats...RIP Steve Clarrk! Btw I attended the Behind the Stadium Tour to see some of my all time fave bands. It was amazing!
Def leppard and AC/ DC are my favorite bands of the 80s. There was so much great music, but those two bands I just played the whole thing without skipping over any songs!
Those were the two bands that got me into hard rock in 1983, AC/DC Back In Black and Def Leppard Foolin, those two songs changed everything about music to me.
I agree 100%!
@@bobdillashaw4360 oh yea, mine was back in black and rock of ages! 🔥🔥🔥
Yes, DEF LEPPARD FOREVER
R.I.P. Steve. Hysteria was an instant greatest hits album. Armageddon It is just one of many.
I saw Def Leppard on their Hysteria tour. The stage was round and in the center of the arena. Rick Allen was on a platform on the top so I got a great view. Amazing to see him drum 🥁 in person!
Love this!! Hysteria is about as close to perfect as an album can be. Steve Clark was one of the best and most underrated guitar players. Thanks for this!!! ❤️
The drumming is amazing, especially when you realize he's doing it with 1 arm. 😲
Guys, the drummer has one arm. Look closely. Amazing!!!
I went to this concert it was “in the round”. The stage was in the center. I was front row it was my second all time favorite concert. Number 1 was Queensryche’s Operation Mindcrime/Empire tour. 🤘😁🤘🎸🎶
When I saw this tour Queensryche opened for them.
@@charleyanne oh wow! Nice. Tesla opened for ours.
I'm thinking 🤔🤔🤔. Yep I'm jealous lol
I went to that same Queensryche show when they came through Dallas as a teenage dumbass in High School. Fond memories
This song came out when I was in high school and my wrestling squad would always come out and work out before a meet to this song. We had it synchronized so that we were doing our running, pushups, stretches, and other exercises in full view of the other team while this song blared on the speakers. Many times they stood and stared at us so long it interrupted their warm-up and it quite frankly scared the hell out of them. I think this song probably got us 12-18 points in every meet that season. A bunch of us got tickets to see them when they came to town. They are amazing in concert! Thanks Def Leppard!!
Great Reaction guys!
Def Leppards always ben a great band. R.I.P. Steve Clark.
The amazing thing about Def Leppard... they was and are cheering each other on.. because they are in it together and still are :)
Each and every member of that band is a driven, focused artist, and they put their all into not only their songs, but their shows as well.
Even after the death of Steve Clark, who did the the solo here and are now even years later have been supported by another great guitarist Vivian Campbell (formerly with Dio and Whitesnake), Def Leppard returned in 2002 with I feel is one of their strongest albums: 'X' and this song opens it with a punch: the song 'NOW.' ua-cam.com/video/gfGW4JuwVHw/v-deo.html
Def Leppard was a top 5 bands in the mid-late 80s and early 90s. This song is one of their best.
They are my favorite rock n roll group! Hands down! I’m 67 yrs old
This follow up to Pyromania was long waited for by all the fans. It was a different style, and that’s what made the songs so unique. I’m pretty sure at one point they had multiple songs from this album topping the charts.
This album released so much as hit singles, there was something on the radio at all times for almost 2 years.
I have so many memories associated with Def Leppard, especially this song. Me and my family would listen to this song on car trips and such. They have such a unique sound. It’s too bad these guys are so underrated…😭😭
Great reaction video👍
In what world were they underrated...they were huge.
@@rarelycares8416 I said “are” not “were.” I do agree that they were huge back then. Now I don’t really hear about them a lot…I don’t know maybe I’m wrong about them being underrated now? I just don’t hear too much about them today.
@@ryansammler9104 to be fair, how often do you hear of 80's bands these days?
This is a great song to listen to on a road trip with the music turned up loud
@@icezebra Not a lot…and it sucks. They’re still doing concerts and stuff…
I got to see these guys in San Antonio TX at a rock fest concert. I had to go just to see Rick Allen on the drums. I was right there and it felt like I was playing. Awesome to see Rick play with one arm
The vocals/harmonies on this song make it.
I actually got backstage passes when they were doing their Euphoria tour. I got to meet every member of Def Leppard! They were so cool and nice. Great people! Got to meet my fav band!!!! It was a great moment!!!!!!!
I always loved it and clinch my fist with a YEAH! when he called out Steve for the solo. It's so sad he gone. 😔 RIP Steve Clark (1990) He was my favorite Leppard.
I remember winning a contest to see them and meet them, I didn't hear that I won on the radio so my mom calls me to tell me I get to see "Def Zeppelin" 😂😂😂And then proceeded to tell me ..you know the guy that shreds his pants😂😂😂I never laughed so hard in my life. They were awesome by the way😎💞
OMG thanks for sharing this story, too funny!!
@@LisaMarieD thanks💞
Hilarious!
Def Zeppelin! I love it!
@@Goobie77 my mom was one of the funniest people I knew😂😂😂I never let her live that one down either😉
Def Leppard is one of my most favorite rock bands. They have the best sound!! Some others to check out are "Rocket", "Gods of War", "Love and Affection", "Let it Go", "Women", "White Lightning", "Stand Up", "Promises"
When they played the Iowa State Fair 1n 1999, they came out , and Joe Elliot said, "We are Def Leppard, and, this is what we do!"
They went into Rock Rock Till You Drop.
For their encore, Joe said, " I have just one question, Des Moines!"
With one voice, we screamed back, " Do You Wanna Get Rocked?"d
Def Leopard is in a class of their own. Worked for them and other Arena Rock bands in the late 80s and early 90s They made time for their fans and the people working for them. I remember I was talking to my wife on a pay phone back stage before a show one time and the band walked up to me asking who I was talking to. Told them it was my wife. Joe Elliott grabbed the phone and just had a casual 5 minute phone conversation with her.
Real Def Leppard is their first three albums but mainly their first high and dry
50 years of Def Leppard always sounds great!✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Even tho I was more into New Wave on the 80s, Def Leppard was always my favorite Rock band!
Love and affection , Gods of war , Mirror Mirror , You got me runnin’ , Coming under fire , Fractured love . All great songs
Come on, Steve...get it!! RIP Steve Clark
This is the most def Leppard song ever.
What's up!! I saw Def Leppard back in 2017 at a Rock Fest. Let me tell you, for their ages, these men could still put on a show. They even did a few numbers to let us know they were actually singing. I'm sure they didn't sing the whole way because they also did a little performance (not as energetic as the 80's) but let me tell y'all, it was bomb. These guys are like "You could lip sync all the way and I wouldn't care" kind of good. It was nice and they did have that presence.
The Hysteria tour with Tesla opening was an amazing concert.
My first concert Was in jr high and still remember the whole thing
I got the Hysteria tour with Europe opening. Would rather it had been Tesla.
The footage from the video is pretty historic... taken from the live concert video "In the round, in your face"... It captured Def Leppard at a peak during the 'Hysteria' tour between 1988 - '89, which was also the last tour featuring original guitarist Steve Clark - the band's rock star, who sadly died in 1991 after a long battle w/ alcohol and drug addiction.
A lot of Def Leppard songs are prominent from the 80's, but their work in the 90's and beyond should also be check out... songs like 'Tonight'... 'Desert song'... 'Work it out'... 'Promises'... 'Heaven is' ... 'Slang'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Desert Song is amazing, mostly insturmental, but amazing nonetheless. I'd add 'All I want is everything' to the list as well, one of their best slow songs and should be much more well known.
"Armageddon It" peaked @ #3 for 2 weeks (released mid-Nov. 1988/ probably peaked in early 1989); Def Leppard charted 19 singles in the Billboard Hot 100 between 1983 - 1996; 13 in the Top 40, 4 in the Top 10 featuring one #1 "Love Bites"-- the single released just before this one.
J, there's another Def Leppard pop rock you need.. the awesome and flamboyant, wild blonde haired guitar player! RIP ❤️🎼🎸✌️
I saw them with my mom a month ago. It was amazing! This is her favorite song. She said she had a tear in her eye when he didn’t say Steve for the solo. Such a great band. Glad you two enjoy them. ❤️
Saw them live twice, this song always pops the crowd. Hysteria and Adrenalize tours.
I’m 70 and they put on the best concert.
One of my favourite Def Leppard songs.
This video comes from their world tour during which they used the "in the round" like a Shakespeare play; something no other band had ever done before. They said it was an interesting but exhausting experience. So they wouldn't ever do it again. They had realized that at any given moment they would have their backs to some part of their audience. So they had to always be on the move to give everybody their money's worth by getting to see them, which, after all, was why they bought their tickets.
I seen Def leopard and Tesla in 87 in NC Hysteria tour ,it was the best ever!
you saw them in 1987!?? damn! you got to see steve!
I was at the concert in Atlanta where they shot the extra footage for this video. It was a school night and my friend’s aunt drove us 5 hours to get to the show. The concert was fire and we were so excited about the video footage, though we were so far back in the nosebleeds we would never get on camera. 😂
Best one armed drummer ever.
Hysteria will forever be my favorite album. The production is beyond stellar. Mutt Lange and Hysteria are the entire reason I'm at college for music production
My favorite thing about Rick Allen is how his left calf is JACKED. 😂
Fun fact: In the early 80's the arrival of punk and new wave put rock and roll to sleep. Billy Squire was the only new Rock you heard on the radio. Then, Def Leppard hit the scene and WOW, basically revived Rock! Fantastic band and catalog of music.
I saw them in 1982 when I was 16. I've seen them several times since and still putting on a great show.
The Def Leppard Hysteria "In the Round" tour was an incredible show. Putting the stage in the center of the arena is a huge challenge logistically, but provides fans such a great, unique concert experience.
I was fortunate enough to see the Hysteria tour when it came to my city in the 80s. I can vouch that the concert was fantastic and pretty much looked/sounded just like this video.
I agree with Jay that "Armageddon It" has a more "pop" sound than some of their out-and-out rockers, but it was still one of the best songs on this album. Not that there was a bad one on it. (The only one I am at all sick of 35 years later is "Pour Some Sugar On Me," simply because it was played nonstop on radio and in my opinion is the most formulaic song on Hysteria.)
I recommend listening to the album in its entirety from start to finish, that's the best way to experience it. And that album really is an experience!
Nancy do you remember who opened for them on the Hysteria tour?
@@markyoung8163, it was Tesla, but oddly enough, I don't have much memory of that. I think my friends and I arrived too late to see them, or see much of them (we had to travel an hour to get to the arena).
At the time I wasn't a huge Tesla fan and didn't really care, I was apparently only concerned about seeing Def Leppard. Later on I grew to really like Tesla, though, and now I very much regret not seeing them!
Agreed, the only song I don't like from this album anymore is Pour Some Sugar on Me. Every other song is still great to me. When I would start listening to this album it's difficult not to just listen to the whole thing. I love some of the unreleased singles like Love and Affection and Run Riot.
@@nancysmith8626 I loved Tesla and missed them twice back in the day. Man I was so annoyed😕When I saw Def Leppard in 89 Europe was their opener. It was such a great concert😎💞
@@spectreharlequin , YES! Love and Affection is my secret fave from Hysteria. And I love Run Riot, and Gods of War.
So stoked!!!! Gonna see them tomorrow night in Denver. Along with Motley Crue, Joan Jett & Poison. They will rock the house!!!!!
So cool! I wanted to take my kids but just couldn't afford the tickets. Have a great time!!
My favorite song Armageddon it from my favorite band.👍👍
My favorite band since I was 11 years old, now I'm 50 and I'm still a fan!
Roy Brown
"Good Rockin Tonight" 1947
THE first Rock n Roll song. Covered by every early Rock band a decade later... including Elvis' cover version.
I saw this tour with Tesla opening up, and this was the first time anybody put the stage in the center of the arena instead of at the end. Neither band was prepared for how much more space they had to cover. You got to watch their doc. Great show...miss those days!
Perfect timing for another Def Leppard reaction. They were just in concert in K.C. last night! I have seen them several times now and they are so GOOD LIVE. Thanks for all you do with the reactions. You guys are my favorite to watch.
Joe Elliott's voice is just ear candy 🎤🎸
You're not wrong there. Eye candy as well
Def Leppard may not be the heaviest band, but they more than make up for it with their harmonies, production, and general tunefulness. Great song choice, guys!
I love Def Leppard has been my favorite band since I was a teenager . Thanks for this one and the reaction.
One of my favourite Def Leppard songs…it always makes me want to dance. . 😋
I'm so happy that I got to see Def Leppard twice during the Hysteria tour, I loved the in the round stage. Still one of my favorite bands.
This tour was fantastic. They had a tall square stage set up right in the middle of arenas so the guys hit all four sides entertaining the crowds just like Amber was talking about. The stage was tall enough they could take breaks in a room underneath and the legend is that they had girls waiting for them under there. Fantastic tour!!
I really think this band is up there with one of the best bands ever journey.. Its like every song is so good!
Was just at their concert and OMG they still sound the same. And they rocked it all night long.
Next up ...... 'Die Heart The Hunter, Bringing On The Heartache (live in Denver), Too Late (live in Denver), Stage Flight!!'
Also this stage was round!! Every seat was a great seat!!! I saw them for this concert in Houston, Tx!! Best concert ever!!
That was footage from the BEST concert(s) I ever attended! "In the Round In your Face" is the whole concert video (from the Hysteria tour), you'll love it!
Hysteria was pure fire. It was amazing when it came out, all over the radio. What a time to have been alive. I'm always grateful to have lived through the '80s
I was at the first concert they did after Rick Allen lost his arm. Early in the show they stopped everything and said that they understood that a lot of people were worried that Rick might had trouble keeping up. They then challenged the audience to clap in time to his drum solo. It started slow and gradually ramped up the speed. The audience didn't stand a chance. The crowd went crazy for a good 3-4 minutes. Easily one of my all time favorite concerts.
I said first concert, I meant first tour.
Not sure if y’all know this but one of the reasons Def Leppard is considered a hell of a great band with great members is because when Steve Allen had his accident in 1984 and lost his left arm, the band stopped touring. Even on the heels of their smash album Pyromania they just stopped everything and waited for him to recover fully rather than replace him.
Allen came back to relearn his drumming an AMAZING 3 months later. He now uses a special pedal set that was developed to allow him to use one foot to drum the left HAND parts. Flat out miraculous all by itself. He plays barefoot now basically out of necessity because of the adaptations.
Seen Them In Concert Twice. Such A Treat Each Time!
They don't show it well, but did you notice the drummer has 1 arm!
per google- -
Rick Allen's accident took place on December 31, 1984 near Sheffield, England. He was driving a Corvette C4 at the time and tried to pass another car while speeding, which resulted in him losing control of the car. His left arm was severed from his body in the crash.
I was in the USAF and got to see them at Castle Donnington Monsters of Rock concert in England, it was his first concert back after the accident. They had two full drum sets on the stage and a back up drummer on the side just in case Rick tired out, well he never did, in fact he kicked bootie, was a great event and one of my most memorable moments so far.
I've been to two or three dozen concerts in the 80's from all of the popular hair bands and this was by far the most entertaining of them all. I'll never forget this concert. The four-sided stage was so unique. So much fun.
Saw them twice in concert and OMG!!! We danced through the whole thing!
I saw them in Indy when they did this Hysteria tour....it was in the round and the best concert I have ever seen. And I've seen them 7 times and they never ever get old..!
