You probably figured this out already, but a huge issue with your particular setup is your vertical balance. You have a top heavy setup. If you added weight to the bottom of the gimbal and/or added an extension handle to the bottom, you would have a lot less bounce. It’s just like a steadicam trinity rig where all axis’s need to be somewhat balanced. Cheers!
@@henrymediagroup Mine came with two sets of springs one are meant for a heavier load. I loaded mine up, ronin s, a7siii 16-35mm 2.8, nucleus nano, even balanced it with a ring light around the lens and ran full speed on a beach and got buttery footage in 24fps. I also switched out the right handle with the tilta nucleus focus handle and on the left handle a ninja v and usb battery pack (to power the ring light). All in all a pretty heavy set up but got good results. But now with the a7siii gyro data and catalyst browse I’m not bringing my gimbal around as much.
love your videos! can i ask what lens you use for dance videos? i use the same camera and lens that you do, but im having trouble figuring out wich lens to use for the dance videos that i shoot. i use the meike cene lens 12mm , and its wide but dosent give tha cinemtatic look. could i use 25mm? or is that too close for a big group? also, do you have footage of your dance videos that i can watch??
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! That’s a great question! I know what you mean when you are using a lens as wide as the 12mm Meike lens when filming a dance video. It is too wide to me and the distortion on the dancer’s face is not really what I like. I always use lenses that are 25mm or above to get better compression and subject isolation. My go to lenses are the Sirui 24mm and 50mm anamorphic lenses. Hope it helps! I will try to upload my work, stay tuned!
@@henrymediagroup ok I will, and I am subscribed to you. You seem so nice and I love how you say "let's get straight to the point" at the beginning of all your videos. It really sets you apart, and you get right to the point with the review. I just love the videos man, I really do
i think you may have a balance or tightness issue (remember you can lift the locks to tighten them more)! your footage shouldnt be that wobbly, even without the handles. Looks like youre getting pretty bad lateral wobble. My footage became significantly more stable once I stopped using the supplied base plate. The higher your camera sits up, the less stable it is. I know smallrig sells alternate mounting options so you can have your camera sit lower.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! That’s a good point! Yeah, I notice that the supplied base plate is making the footage unstable. I will try to get the SmallRig base plate. Thank you so much for your suggestion and support!
@@henrymediagroup Yup, you should check this vid out as well, he goes over what im talking about pretty thoroughly ua-cam.com/video/4gIbfD2eKnw/v-deo.html personally, i use an R6 w/ an L bracket with the smallrig plate: www.amazon.com/dp/B08NPRYDJZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
