Walter, Don Fraser here, a very close pal of Mick Schofield who first promoted your UK gigs, in the seaside town of Blackpool (you were managed at the time by a Swedish guy whose name I can't now remember). Anyway, your gig was SENSATIONAL from the off. Loads of very talented guitarists in England attended that gig (Mick had booked many of them previously) and ALL of them were blown away by your talent. Tragically cancer took Mick's life in 1996 but he was honoured to have been invited by you to your wedding - he always waxed lyrical about your generosity. I'm so glad you have overcome ill-health and still play like a fabulous dream. All the very best.
The nicest guy to ever make a guitar sound like's it's supposed to. This guy played our local tiny little blues bar and didn't stop for 3 hours straight, for a packed house of about 100 people. Thanks for all the hard work Walter, there's no equal for effort or quality of your shows.
I saw him in a similar situation, probably less people. He was also as nice to people as he could be and worked hard. Many can play blues. He made you feel it.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Walter Trout quite a few years ago at a very small club called Lucille's in Latonia, Ky. He was the sweetest man! At one point in the evening, after he had so graciously autographed his CD for me, he came back to me and asked me BY MY NAME to borrow my sharpie pen....and then he returned it about 45 minutes later, calling me by my name AGAIN! I was so impressed by his sweet nature and his music that he will always be one of my ABSOLUTE favorite musicians of all time, ever! Needless to say, we were all worn out by Walter's hours of maniacal shredding and singing....sweet exhaustion!
I grew up listening to Walter perform from Perq's in downtown Huntington Beach, Tumbleweeds to some of the hottest places in So. Cal.~~~nobody, and I mean NO BODY does the blues like this man!!! We LOVE YOU Walter~~
I just saw Walter in concert in Grand Rapids, MI August 12 2015 Fantastic player! He put his all into the performance and I enjoyed every minute of the concert. Not only tremendous talent, but a person that has earned my respect. Organ donors unite. Thanks Walter KC
I hate to brag, but I'm going to see him again today. Last time he was here he played at a little bar that holds about 75 people, and he played for 3 hours straight with about a 2 minute pee break while the band kept going. This guy is the best guitar player alive today, and one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. It's going to be about 100 degrees today, but if he can take it, so can I!
I went to see him at a club by me yrs. ago and sat with him during break, He talked a lot about his hometown etc. Very nice person. He signed my guitar strap..
Walter you are still phenomenal in every way!!! Every time I listen to your music I melt. Just as I did when I first met you in Springfield, MO so many years ago. Blusjunkie
Holy s#$^! How in hell have I managed to miss this guy? (no tomatoes, please, I just don't get out that much). AWESOME SOUL, playing and singing. Thanks, Bjarne Warming, for posting this!
Don't feel too bad.,I just found him while I was looking for a full concert with Stevie Ray Vaughn ,Carlos Santana ,Jimmy Vaughn ,and the guitarist from Los Lobos .The song I checked out was Coal Train .I watched a documentary on SRV and found out who some of his influences were .So I'll be spending more money on music since I check out one person and end up finding more .It's okay since all this music beats the crap out of the stuff that's out today .
Same here... never heard him before this. Wow, there's some incredible players out there and this man is all over that strat.....I was checking out some old cover Steve Gaines was doin (Honey Hush by Big Joe Turner) man we lost a great one there in (Steve Gaines)can only imagine what he'd be playing today !! but Mr. Trout here is strong with a good voice !!
walter trout is great. very good live. he definitely lives the blues, feels the music and seems like a good guy. he is his own style. I really don't compare him to others but enjoy his take on these blues standards.
Saw Jimi do Red House live May 16, 1969, front row center at the Baltimore Civic Center. It was a fine performance but this one by Walter Trout is better! Red House is tough to cover but Trout puts his own superb stamp on it. This first time hearing him tells me he is a master. Fine blues vocalist also.
I agree. Jimi was and always will be my favorite guitarist, but Walter Trout does this even better! Saw Jimi -69- '70 but the revovling stage at the Spectrum in Philly leaves much to be desired as far as the quality of sound.
CBS Fender did build great Stratocasters... they just need to be in the hands of a musician who knows how to play a guitar!! Here's the proof!! Incredible blues playing!!
I think anyone would have to be special to follow Eric into the Bluesbreakers... and I don't think John Mayall was disappointed. I was lucky enough to see Walter in Leeds, England and he played like this for nearly 2 hours. Memorable night. Great artiste - better than Beck or Page for me. Thanks for posting
one of the best there is, the band is always tight.....friends of mine for a long time....peace my brothers...much love Michael Leasure, Sammy Avila, Rick Knapp, & of course Walter!
FIRST TIME I HEARD WALTER, I WAS IN CHICAGO ON BUSINESS IN THE EARLY-MID 90'S, AND WAS HAVING A DRINK WITH THIS GIRL FROM BROOKLYN WHERE I LIVE AND TOLD HER DAMN THEY PLAY SOME GREAT MUSIC IN HERE, THE STAGE WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF A HUGE CLUB, SHE SAID WHATTA YOU MEAN THAT'S WALTER TROUT, I WAS BLOWN AWAY, I SAID THIS IS LIVE, SHE SAID YEAH, AND POINTED TO WHERE THE STAGE WAS, NEVER MISSED HIM PLAY SINCE, LOVE HIM
So amazing. Many high points in this performance. First time I ever heard this guy. God! "This is what B.B. King would day!" B.B. King should be proud, an JIMI HENDRIX OBVIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have not seen Walter for a few years, forgotten how exceptional he is.His new album is truly remarkable-glad to see him back after his near fatal illness.MUST see him in Leamington Spa ;though it is great pity he does not play in Stoke on Trent.
I've heard of this guy, but I've never heard him play. He's a force of nature; what a stage presence! That's important, I think, when entertaining people: likability. Neither Jimmy Page nor Ritchie Blackmore seem like nice, humble, likable guys, although their playing is phenomenal. Thanks for broadening my world a little bit.
Walter used to play every week at the Key Largo in Torrance, Ca some 30+ years ago, we partied many times back when partying was cool. Some Bass player named Ernie hung out there too.........
This is my ex. We lived together 7th and Orange, HB and I always requested this. He is playing a new "Baby Strat"'. The old baby was retired. Love those Strats. This was before Hep C got him but he;s back. Thank god!! Play on my boy! Baby Muffin
Outstanding! In my opinion the best living performer of that song, ifeel like it was Gary Moore,Johnny winter then Jimi Hendrix, but now all three are gone and I don't know if anybody puts more soul into these days,I'm so happy that Walters still with us
Walter Trout saw him live twice after went home happy my ears were ringing for ages what A Guitarist had to get his Records out to listen to some more Walter Trout
Saw Walter some time ago. The support band didn't turn up. The album Back in Black by ACDC was played over the PA... I remember thinking WTF, can this guy be for real? However when Walter hit his straps, we forgot all about ACDC.... Walter was now The Man..!!
Get well soon walter! Your family and fans miss you and look forward to your return. We all send our best prayers to you and want you to know that you are greatly missed! So, take good care and return to us soon
Saw him in Edinburgh a couple of years ago before this pandemic and his set was based on all the albums he had released and his personel history involved including his time with Canned Heat it was one of the best concerts/nights I have been at.
Walter is just like Smokin’ Joe Kubek - not known by any others than by blues fans... oh what a tragedy!!! Walter has so much fun playing. He’s in that same motif as SRV, just floor it!
Seen this guys name come up quite often on SiriusXM B.B. Kings blues channel. Always meant to check him out but never got around to it. All I’ve got to say is WOW! Impressive.
I do like the way he'll pull a high note like the b string and pull it up and tap it like hell with the pick.....all feel and touch that's the key to working a blues progression.....the violin swells are cool too.
Trout HAS to be one of the most underrated blues guitarist alive.
Absolutely..he is EPIC ?
Toby Leé ?

I was at this concert at the Scottish Rite auditorium in Collingswood, NJ
Approached with the ferocity the song calls for; nice tribute to the master of the Stratocaster!
I hate to brag, but I'm going to see him again today. I have to thank John Mayall for introducing me with Walter Trout when Trout was getting his mojo together 🎸 with The Bluesbreakers
Walter Trout showing his stuff..any blues player that can rip this song up like this belongs with the greats...love it
Yes, Mr. Walter is from another League !!
Great! Thank you for this
I went to see him at a club by me yrs. ago and sat with him during break, He talked a lot about his hometown etc. Very nice person. He signed my guitar strap..

HELL YEAH!!! Impeccable, Mr. Trout! Dynamic! The best rendition that I've heard so far, including Chief Fender Bender's! Hope you're feeling better!
Awesome guitarist, indeed, ever since his early days with Canned Heat and John Mayall.
Wow, this is a great version.
So amazing. Many high points in this performance. First time I ever heard this guy. God! "This is what B.B. King would day!" B.B. King should be proud, an JIMI HENDRIX OBVIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rock and roll will never die!
Been watching MR.TROUT for years and I'm just amazed at how he wills that STRAT to play for( us)
I've heard of this guy, but I've never heard him play. He's a force of nature; what a stage presence! That's important, I think, when entertaining people: likability. The literal old phrase "screaming and hollering the blues" Simplicity with extreme sophistication..Hats off Walter..
Saw him just this weekend in Sweden. An amazing, amazing gig!
Saw Walter some time ago. The support band didn't turn up. The album Back in Black by ACDC was played over the PA... I remember thinking WTF, can this guy be for real? However when Walter hit his straps, we forgot all about ACDC.... Walter was now The Man..!!

You know what? I find this fellow a whole lot more fun to watch even than Hendrix. Way to play the song.
Saw him in Edinburgh a couple of years ago before this pandemic and his set was based on all the albums he had released and his personel history involved including his time with Canned Heat it was one of the best concerts/nights I have been at.
Great Performance !!
Walter Trout's wicked!! AWESOME!!!
i feel the nerves in my teeth when he hits them beautiful notes
Just saw him yesterday in Erie ... He is awesome!!! Keep on rockin'! 💀
Hey Walt remember we played Red House at the Key Largo. Always your past drummer. Mr Tully
A GREAT SHOW EVERYTIME YOU HAVE A GREAT FAMILY - LIVE ON !!!
Yes!!!!!!!! This man can jam.
Walter is just like Smokin’ Joe Kubek - not known by any others than by blues fans... oh what a tragedy!!! Walter has so much fun playing. He’s in that same motif as SRV, just floor it!

Now this is EXACTLY HOW "Red House" should be performed in the 2010s, YES,
INDEED!
Love when he goes into that Roy Buchanan mode. The volume control technique.
Funny you should mention that...I saw Buchanan back in the 70's and Trout really brings him to mind...
quite simply Brilliant 😍
I do like the way he'll pull a high note like the b string and pull it up and tap it like hell with the pick.....all feel and touch that's the key to working a blues progression.....the violin swells are cool too.
Stevie Rays in Louisville Ky always has guys like him and Ronnie Baker Brooks on a Monday night! He was flat out awesome! One of my favorites
great version of red house
Great jam, thanks for post......
Amazing Guitarist !!!!!
The best version of this tune ever,poppa.............
You look beauriful my Brother Walter. I have always loved you ❤❤❤😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤...
He is great... Would of loved to see him and the late Gary Moore hook up to jam.....
Never got to see Gary Moore. Sad loss of a monster musician. Would love to see Walter too. Those two together would be astounding beyond anything
Have seen both, but not together, Gary wins every time, but Walter is awesome too.
Absolutely beautiful.
WT est probablement le plus grand guitariste de ce 21eme siècle
There was smoke coming from that thing . Someone put Walter out quick !
Walter kills it.
No one can play it. you nailed it!
👏👏👏👏
Walters motto, too many notes, too loud. LOVE IT
I hope Trout gets the liver he needs and there is no rejection. Sending my best thoughts, Walter...
Great Walter!!!
