Eight years after he ended his first go-round as Wally Cleaver on Leave it to Beaver, Tony Dow, at age 26, guest starred on the popular TV series The Mod Squad on Oct. 21, 1971, as a hot-headed dune buggy racer.
This video has the combined 2 1/2-minutes of scenes where Tony was on screen.

Who would have ever thought that Eddie Haskell would grow up to be a cop and Wally would become a hooligan.
Tony Dow didn't become a hooligan. He was playing a part on The Mod Squad. He was actually a successful director.
He’s an is why it’s a job and he still had some of his habits that I doubt you even noticed I took acting and it’s a job to make a living just as Tony did many things in his lifetime to make a living as an artist in other ways! Wake Up already!

It was such a tragic event in so many ways. Ward died of a heart attack soon after Wally was booked. June had a Nervous Breakdown and ended up in a three way love triangle with Fred Rutherford and Mrs. Rayburn, also known as "The Bull" by her intimate friends.
June was alright..She was even on a flight speaking jive talk with a sick brotha..
And we thought Eddie Haskell was the bad guy.

And Peggy Lipton. She died from colon cancer on May 11, 2019. Michael Cole is the only surviving cast member. So sad.

Awesome this is really fun I never knew he did a Mod Squad he is good in this episode.
Tony was so typecast as Wally it's a miracle that he got any other roles at all. Just ask Max Baer Jr. (Jethro on Beverly Hillbillies).
He was still good old wally even though trying to be tough. His natural ways were his ways. 🙏

I don't understand why every UA-cam clip featuring Tony Dow has a Wally Cleaver sub heading. If you know Tony Dow. Then you know and appreciate his contributions to our entertainment. RIP Tony and thank you.
Because unlike you and I, there are millions of people much younger than us who are familiar with the name Wally Cleaver but couldn't tell you the actor's name was Tony Dow. And the only reason I have put all these hundreds of clips together is because these actors all played characters on Leave it to Beaver. Sorry if it bothers you; please feel feel to just avert your eyes from those couple of words
Tony will always be Wally. Seeing him older, he just gets hotter. Love his hair and good no mustache.

Tony was not always delighted to be typecast as the All American Boy. He did have some rough spots in early adulthood. He learned.

I was hoping this would be one of the episodes where Linc cries due to the overwhelming weight of "the man's" oppressive injustices. Clarence William's afro deserved it's own Emmy award.

Tony looks kind of overweight in this episode. He was only about 26 I would imagine at the time this was filmed. I can see why he was typecast. It's very difficult to see him as anyone other than Wally.

Kim Hamilton (Black actress) was on LITB as a maid in the same scene as "Wally" & "Eddie".
I met Tony in a BALLY'S Fitness Center Iocker room in Indianapolis years ago. He was not friendly at all. He didn't appear as nice as Ken Osmond or Jerry Mathers. I'm glad my skin is thick enough not to be punctured by one of my favorite TV icons that l admired growing up. It just taught me not to worship other human beings...only God.
