Can't agree more, this music has comforted me in some of the worst of times and brought tears to my eyes in the best of times. Still..... In shock , it's over.
Saw them last night Live in Pittsburgh, PA on Monday 12/13/2021 - just 5 days before 62nd birthday. This Song in particular makes me VERY SAD for some reason! I was thinking about my Son who took his own life in 2017 because of a Severe Dissociative disorder called Depersonalization, caused by Mollie / Ecstasy....I also Lost my 57 y/o Sister in 2019 to cancer - and my parents are gone too....Oddly I was in tears when they played this last night, but it felt like a cleansing of my VERY BROKEN Soul! I LOVE GENESIS - Phil Collins, Mike, Tony, Steve H. Peter Gabriel, Darrell S. and the other drummer Chester Thompson ....and YES, Phil's Son is a TERRIFIC Drummer ! Love You Guys !! Possibly their LAST visit as a group in the U.S.A. - Bye- Bye Guys - The Music you brought to me since 1972 - 2021 has been INCREDIBLE !!! XOXO
That's one moving moment... Two old friends remembering the good old time, softly, quietly... The end put tears in my eyes... Left is a lifetime friendship, awesome memories, and hopefully our love for them through all those years still there to keep them warm.

Couple of years ago I comment on this, now, with mine and my daughters (15yo) world shaken, turned upside down and almost completely destroyed at one point in this last couple years, I find myself listening again to this and almost wanting to hug the person and people who wrote played and sung this time and again throughs the years (Genesis fan here)… while it’s great to have the others, Mike and co, this version of Afterglow is as I said before, so beautiful and so clear, the friendship there just relaxed and at ease…howbeit let’s be honest, they known each other practically forever 😊…the lyric,, as always it means much… I can’t put into words, if I did and I hugged these guys they’d finish up with tear stained shirts! Thank you again for putting this up, the meaning of all this… well… i can’t tell you but the typing of comment is trying not to be waterlogged…

One word... Beautiful... Afterglow I've listened to so many times and wherever played, it's always lovely to hear.. Thanks for posting and thanks Genesis once again for amazing music that lives through time and generations..xx
It is actually a great tune ... to think that Tony call it "very simple"... One song that shows all his talent is, for me, Me and Sarah Jane, the highlight of Abacab. Again, it's just my opinion

@@dexterdog62 Well we can officially put that to rest. It would be nice, along the way with this upcoming world tour, that Peter and Steve do some cameo appearances. Most likely going to be the last time Genesis does anything on a grand stage Again
@@matthewimi So sad to see Phil having to perform seated in a chair. It’s something that I really don’t want to see in person. So true, this will in all likelihood be the last time the band gets together to tour. I feel immensely fortunate to have seen them live three times in my life, once in 1980 and twice on consecutive nights in 1981. I still have vivid memories of those concerts even all these years later.
@@dexterdog62 I have seats in the ninth row at Madison Square Garden coming this December. Hopefully everything will go as planned and I can take my kids to a Genesis show for the first time. They missed 2007 because they have a POSchiff of a mother, but that's another story. I believe Tony, Mike & Phil should, like I said in the original post, bring out Gabriel and Hackett in Cameo appearances. Unless of course they're going to do a mini lamb tour or something. I don't know. It's going to be interesting to see what they do with Phil for drums. Because he can play a little bit, just not like he used to. They really should bring out a couple of drummers to make it an entertaining show. I need the double drumming.
@@matthewimi Any guest appearances by either Gabriel or Hackett have a probability factor of zero to none. Tony Banks recently stated that most fans of the band are more familiar with the music post Gabriel, so that pretty much squashes any chance of him appearing. And I’m pretty sure Steve Hackett has no desire to appear as his solo career is pretty successful and he didn’t exactly leave the band on the best of terms back in the late 70’s. I’ve read that Phil may get behind the drum kit for a couple of songs, but the drumming on the tour will be done by Phil’s son. Not quite sure what happened to Chester Thompson, but as I understand it Phil only agreed to do the reunion tour if his son handled the drumming duties. Sorry to hear about your ex being such a battle axe, believe me, I know where you’re coming from. Hope you enjoy the show.
where did this little beauty come from!! Never seen that. Spent the first 3 years of my Genesis life with only the sleeve pictures on Foxtrot. First time I saw them actually moving was turn it on again on Top of the Pops.
Would love Tony Banks to use the CP-70 more often live. This is 2001 and it sounds just like it's 1986 (think this is the near exact ammount of chorus used on the Invisible Touch tour.)
The CP 70 get's out of tune easily, even if it was just tuned. So there is a problem with the reliability and that's probably the reason, why it's not used on stage anymore. But I agree: The sound is great. Same problem is with the Mellotron.
Makes me sad that we will never hear this again.
I hope Phil is doing okay. 😢
