There’s something called a “huevo limpia” (which translates to egg cleansing) in Mexican cultures that requires the repetition of a prayer and light passes over the body with an egg. At the end, the egg is cracked into a glass of water and placed under the bed. Supposedly, the murkier the water, the sicker/more negative energy you’re carrying. As the water clears up, sickness fades and that energy is lifted My first experience with ASMR was when my grandma did the limpia on me as a kid. The feeling of the cold egg across my body and her barely audible whispers gave me the most intense tingles I’ve ever experienced
My first memory of ASMR was when I was a small child in my first primary school. We left when I was seven so I must have been younger than that. I had long hair and this kid sat behind me in school assembly and started playing with it for seemingly no reason. I had it throughout my life, but it was only as an adult that a partner asked me if I knew about ASMR, and introduced me to videos that could induce it.
I could write a book about my early experiences. Earliest I can remember was watching the OG, Bob Ross in the late '70s. Sorry, 1970s. One of my favorite things about summer vacation was being home at 9:00 (or maybe it was 10) to watch him paint, and listen to his hypnotic voice, and the sound of the brushes on the canvas.
With me asmr makes me feel very relaxed, I’ve never had these tingles that everyone keeps mentioning, also it really helps if the person is very extractive which you are !! Also I love your soothing voice and aussie accent

My first ASMR experience was listening to Bob Ross when i was a kid. I even enjoyed the sounds that he made while he was painting. Then, a lot of years lately, i started to listen to many ASMR youtubers, but I've found that it was the unintentional asmr the one that gave me the tickles. Then i discovered a video about how to install a portable air conditioner, how to setup a modem and how to save a thousand on groceries. And from that very moment, whenever I need to relax, I listen to you.

I loved this one! thanks for introducing us to the beginnings of asmr worldwide : ) One of my earlier asmr memories is from when I was a teen, I was at my aunt and uncle's apartment. My niece was on the floor close by, she was like 4 at the time, I was just sitting on the couch, aunt and uncle were somewhere else, their cat was just chilling on the sofa with me, and my niece was sort of playing with a bunch of papers, she may have been drawing, and making quiet noises or humming while doing it. I slowly started getting this feeling of calm and warmth. I can almost recreate it in my head if I focus intently on this memory. To me it feels like if this sensation is a tiny dot in the center of my head, and as you focus on it it starts to expand like a balloon, but it keeps wanting to go back to a dot, so you try more and more and it envelops your whole head. There's this loud quietness to it. Like many have said in that thread, it's hard to describe. Hope you all have a lovely day.
Tippexing is that correction fluid you can get that comes with a little brush and if you make a mistake when writing you can take the brush and dab it over the paper where you made the mistake so the mistake is hidden. And then you write over it. There is a correction fluid brand called Tipp-Ex so using it is sometimes referred to as tippexing.
I remember the revelatory feeling when i first heard someone describe ASMR on like NPR of all things in 2013. I had just days before discovered asmr videos on youtube but had been collecting this sort of content for a long time in sound clips and songs and like DVD commentary tracks, and listened on loop to relax or sleep. So glad we stuck with ASMR and not AIHO haha. I always got that fuzzy head feeling as a kid from voices - same now, I get nothing from tapping or personal attention. As I got older I stuggle to get to sleep so it would relax me, from both the tingles and just having something other than my own thoughts going round and round. So kinda the opposite of narcolepsy?
I was always into whispering growing up. When I would good to the Dr’s or hear someone whisper into my ear or talk in a low voice. Then found a whisper video on UA-cam back then I was blown away. 😅

I can remember the onset of ASMR on UA-cam. At the time, I was already on YT trying to find anyone whispering as I remembered getting tingles from it as a kid and teen. What I was watching was parts of the show Big Brother where the cast would whisper to each other at night trying to have privacy. It’s still the only part of that show I’ve ever watched. Luckily a tsunami of ASMR was heading our way so we could tingle till we couldn’t tingle anymore
Got you youtube suggested, and didn’t realize until this explanation that this tingling is part of your goal, and never had anyone talking about this aside myself. Psychologist nor psychiatrist also never understood this nice experience. Happens to me also when someone interrogates you attentively in a nice way.

I remember having eargasms lol or asmr back in high school before the internet existed, when the sassy girls would smack their gum and write loudly with their pens or they would shuffle through their large purse looking for makeup when the whole room was dead quiet😂. I think age and meds have stopped my ability to feel tingles. I absolutely felt them in my twenties, but had no idea what they were. Soothing voices are still pleasing though.
Just got recommended your channel last night, and your content reminds me of Kaya (asmr), except your mic has less gain on it and you don't do mic brushing which is perfect for me lol. I love listening to her videos for the interesting facts or stories, but the mic sounds can be a bit much.
