My husband and I visited this garden today! It was amazing!
It really is!
Terrific tour! Can’t believe I’ve never been. Will definitely plan a visit now. Really loved hearing your Camellia historical stories!
I have been to these gardens years ago...beautiful!
I would love to hear your heritage camellia presentation someday. On my bucket list!😊
I Actually visited a tea farm in Kenya Africa. That’s where I learned about tea camellias and how they were processed. Lovely garden tour!
Wonderful video! I added several items to my wishlist. 😉
Thanks for the tour!
Those palms were saw palmetto sernoa repens a silver and a green form both are also native.
loved the water feature area....
I fell in love with camellias when a young man on whom I had a very serious crush brought me some camellias when he returned to KY from his home state of AL. Years later, after a tour of Magnolia Plantation, I became even more enamored. But living in zone 6b meant my options were quite limited. I eventually found one hardy to my zone but it has not been all I had hoped. For the second time in its 25+ year life, it has suffered greatly after a severe freeze (the Arctic Blast in Dec). I lost nine flower buds initially and now I think it has probably died, back to the roots, as it did before, if I’m lucky. One year, I lost 32 buds to severe cold. On the upside, I have had as many as 27 gorgeous pale pink blossoms. Just because a plant is hardy in a particular zone does not mean it will thrive - I learned this the hard way.
Yes that’s very true- and coastal zone 6 is much more forgiving than inland. It’s really difficult to breed for flower bud hardiness. Have you tried any from the April series? Those consistently are reported to be the most reliable in zone 6.

I’ll keep my eyes open for that series.
Thanks! Looking forward to part 2. I have Les Marbury and hope it establishes well.
The plants at the edge of the Japanese garden pond at 24:15, is that Liriope spicata?
I enjoyed this video! I’m only a couple of hours away from this garden, so I hope to visit it soon! Do you know of any books that are collections of “camellia stories?”
I dont but that would be an awesome book!
Maybe you should write one!
Just wondered , if they can live in a greenhouse. Wonder why not in someone home
They require humidity. Houses are too dry.
@@BrieThePlantLady thankyou
What a shame the Camellias have pine needles hanging through them. Not a nice look 😭
Well visually it may not be good but camellias love high pine shade!
I thought the tree’s were beautiful, but the pine needles did look a mess. Anyways, just my opinion, others obviously enjoy visiting immensely so that’s awesome. I did enjoy the video, just cringed each time I would see another beautiful tree and a hand going into the branches to show the beautiful flowers and all the pine needles 🥲. At least the soil too would be good and acidic.
