Just for reference in the future remove the saw from the bar and chain when you have it jamed like that so you don't end up damaging the saw. Cracking the case, bending the end of the crank,or miscellaneous other things. A bar and chain are cheap compared to having to replace the saw or having it rebuilt.
First off, I never miss an episode of your adventure. 🙂 just a warning about the grating on the bottom of your trailer. I have seen too many cringy stories about dogs getting a nail ripped off in small crevices and grates. Please be aware of the possibility. Thanks and keep up the truly enjoyable content. I can’t be there with you but this is the next best thing.
We had really bad deer flies on our property when we moved in. Now, we have killed off most of the breeding stock using Tanglefoot smeared on some kind of hat. They are territorial, and they hunt from above usually. So, get a blue colored hard hat. Affix clear plastic saran wrap on the outside secured with duct tape on the inside and smear the Tanglefoot on the outside when warm. Then wear it around for several days when the deer flies show up. This works. You are the bait. You just have to be willing to look goofy with a sticky hat on your head covered in flies. When it gets covered in deer flies, take off the saran wrap and put on a fresh layer and more Tanglefoot. Eventually, you severely decrease the breeding population in your area.
TJ, Do you realize that you’re complaining that the channel isn’t bringing you things that Ryan didn’t say he was going to deliver? Nobody is stopping you from watching something else are they?

Here is an idea for a repurposed material deer/horse fly trap,...pick out an older, dark colored T-shirt to wear once more while working up a good sweat. Then, collect two insect screen panels from a worn out tent and spary insect stick-em on one side of said panels. Sandwich the T-shirt between the two panels, and apply a strip of fabric along the now doubled up screen panels. Utilize some gromets in each corner, hang the "fly sail" between two trees and spray both sides with stick-em,...dark colored, moving object that displaces human hormones without stringing oneself to a tree. Its worth a shot,...
Ringworm why not use blue plastic plates. Use 20lbs fishing line, then swivel on the top and bottom of the plates. So you can hang as much plates as you want.
We had a gazebo in the woods at our old place. The dogs would trash the screen constantly. Finally put up a 36” high border of chain link fencing on both sides of the screen at the bottom. Dogs never ruined a single screen after that. It would look pretty goofy on your gazebo, but if you painted it black it probably wouldn’t look too strange.
I was watching that saw pinch and silently screaming. Remove the saw from the bar.... Gad it worked out, could have been very expensive... Take care..I enjoy the videos

@@jerryrogers9703 I like all Ryan’s videos including the puppy ones, and it’s Ryan’s channel….but…I can see their point in that they got hooked on a guy who builds fun stuff in the woods, if you’re not a dog lover, then the last two months were boring for them and it could affect views and subscriptions…but that is Ryan’s choice.
One of the quickest learning dogs I have ever seen! You have a way with that little growing pup! How are the ticks up there? Maybe blood meal might be an attractant for the flies. Good luck with it all!
The puppy dog is sure getting big fast and he has a ways to go. Beautiful dog that's for sure and is definitely your best friend. Ryan you made a good pick by landing that puppy, great breed. Stay Fly Free Now. Take Care
You’ll have a much easier time making those type of cuts if you cut a notch on the top of the log before making your undercut. Make your notch about the same size and depth as you would when felling. The log will then drop slowly before breaking. Much safer and it also helps prevent pinching. I cut more of the wood on the far side first (to within about two inches of the notch), so that as I’m finishing the cut, I’m moving the saw towards me and out of danger. Unlike a felling back cut, make your cut directly in line with the bottom of the notch. Hope that helps. I live in far NW WI and mill a lot of Jack Pine with a small Alaskan mill and Stihl 462 with a 20” bar. I’m an arborist, but never milled any wood until watching your channel. Many thanks!
What works great on my tiny garden for Bugs .....is Franks Red Hot Sauce mixed , a couple of oz's or less, in a spray bottle with a few drops of Dawn liquid dish soap and Water ....8oz of water ....and spray it on plants , your body , your hats your clothes and bugs hate the smell of it and won't bite yah maybe anyway.....and buy some Basil plants from Home Depot or a Meijers store and set them in your window go grow and then take the leaves and spread them around and you will see no bugs in your house , or on your plants and spray your doors and near your night outdoor light and you won't see any bugs . Or take some Basil leaves , rub them on your skin ;hands , face , neck and maybe the flys won't bite you ?
I don't know about other species of insects. But I know trap and toss does offer one that does catch horse flies and deer flies. Horrible buggers. I feel you. I don't think it's chemical but I don't know. I know it just gives off the smell of rotten meat. And they go right after it. Keeping chickens draws a crazy amount of flies and I always keep them out in the summer.
I've hung up my saw a number of times in the same way. Before trying to remove, I take off the powerhead from the bar. Less likely to damage equipment that way.
Fill a jam jar quarter full of water and place a piece of raw meat in the water. Make a small hole in the screw on the lid big enough for a fly to get through. Screw the lid on the jar. Leave the jar where the flies collect. As the meat rots down and smells it collects the drowned dead flies.
They say put two dragonfly dummies on a ten inch thin wire and let them stand up from your hat, that should Keep the Deerflies away. Youd look silly but Id love to see it. Love your episodes, cheers from Iceland! 😊
Whoa!!! you just broke the rule of UA-camrs...... your pepper came out of a shaker, the rule in UA-cam videos is your pepper has to be ground from a pepper shaker that makes crunching noises and you have to grind it yourself. It makes you more legit as an off gridder

Tape a small piece of aloe vera plant leaf cut in half on top of horsefly bite or wasp sting. Put it under a band aid or any tape - sting will be gone in an hour and you won’t know it was there the next day. Same treatment for a burn and most times it won’t blister!
Large pop bottle half full water and rotten fruit with meat hanging inside. Or you can buy a bait that you can hang inside. Or make a sticky hat with blue cups mounted on your hat and walk around with it. 😂😂😂
Chainsaw bar damage. You should have dug out your custom log lifter and attempted to open up the curf cut with it. Cutting away with an axe didn’t seem too effective.
I use two blue solo cups with brush on Tanglefoot mounted to the top of my Gator. I would do slow laps around my property. After a summer of doing this everyday, I don't have nearly as many deer flies.
