  • Jayson Shaw takes on Skyler Woodward in the round one of the Derby City Classic Bigfoot 10-Ball Challenge.
Both players had great 2022 campaigns, and were looking to start off the new year in the right way. They had just met in the finals of the Turning Stone Classic a few months ago, where Shaw won in a hill-hill battle.
Shaw was a three time winner of the 10-Ball Challenge, amongst his long line of accomplishments.
Woodward is a former Derby City 9-Ball and All Around Champion. He had yet to conquer the Bigfoot table, at a major event.
Jeremy Jones and Mark Wilson called the action.

Love the Accu-Stats Video Productions. They call the balls by their numbers not "red three" or "green six" etc PLUS - and this is a big one - there are almost NO slow motion instant replays. The viewer can sit down, watch a good match and get into the rhythm of the players without being interrupted with endless slow motions after breaks or every other shot. You guys are doing fantastic job. Such a good product you do. Thank you!!!!!!!!

      I'm with you (...mostly).
Calling balls by both their numbers _and_ colors becomes necessary, since some ball manufacturers (in their infinite wisdom) decided to scramble the colors from model to model. In _this_ case, that pink four ball is usually purple. (A _long_ while ago, the two ball was red and the three ball was blue.)

What was the foul on Jason's first shot now? What was the rule infraction?

In the 12th rack, Skyler using running English on the one? Ran wide by a millimeter. High middle a better bet.

You can jump.. but must use your playing cue

@@rogerscottcathey I'm sure he realized that immediately or he thought he just put a touch too much spin. Almost all kicks like that one are made with a touch of spin. Hindsight is 20/20 when you kick at and miss a ball.

What are the dimensions inside, rail to rail across and up and down the ten foot table? Did Mark say 4'&1/4"? Across?

18:32 Wilson called it inside English on this shot, Jones said isn't right. Wasn't it running? Outside?

Never fails. Any other commentator starts praising shaw for anything JJ dismisses it and plugs in whatever American player he's suckling currently.

Hear me out...for all the considerable efforts expended on producing truly random numbers; perhaps break shots are a worthy contender for randomness, especially when the numerical values of the balls remaining are factored in. Like a lava lamp, the distribution of the pool balls after the break, weighted by their numerical values, and evaluated properly (cough cough), is about as random as anything needs to be.
    Like he said:
The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.

@@barefootrocker I believe it is that he jumped with is break cue, but jump shots are only allowed with the playing cue. The break cue would have a harder tip compared to the playing cue.
