These are not Chicago deep dish piazza. Those are bread bowls.
Looks like a pan pizza with a big crust.
I've seen frozen red baron single pizzas in the supermarket that look better than what they were having
Reminded me of pie crust
They should call the video Italian reviews British deep dish pizza.
British pied pizza imo.
Or "Italian reviews British "supposed" deep dish pizza, realizes British people are insane" lol
Shame on Jolly for not taking him to Chicago for authentic Chicago deep dish.
Honestly, the Brits trying to recreate any American food is going to be a big let down. It would be like using an American food critic to judge fish n chips made in NY
Jolly actually did a video where they were in Chicago trying real Chicago Deep Dish, and they look nothing like these London pies. It was just the two of them. Old reaction from 5 years ago, but still on youtube.
Instead of American-izing it, they did the opposite.
They English-ized it. 😂
Carbonara sauce is made by whisking hot pasta water into eggs, then drizzling that into the pasta, cheese and other ingredients. It's a creamy consistency, but there is no cream in it at all.
In America, a lot of people tend to add cream. But traditionally there is none.
I had a roommate from Rome when I lived in Florida. He loved American pizza. He would order it at least 2 times a week, if not more. Furthermore, he lives in Rome now but tells me he misses American pizza.
I don't know what Chicago deep dish Gaynor's had, because the Chicago Deep Dish pizzas I've had the crust is buttery, flaky and not "doughy".
Yeah doughy pizza is disgusting. I associate that chewy uncooked texture with traditional italian styled pizza. Everytime ive tried it i hate it.
@@nullakjg767 Exactly
*Oh NOOOOO....... That Chicago Deep Dish is all wrong* 👀👀🤦🏾♀🤦🏾♀
Looks nothing like Chicago deep dish pie
You aren't the first one to notice it. I honestly couldn't go for that place.
No doubt.... not even close!
Not nothing!
Looks like a personal sized deep dish pizza to me.
@@briansmith48 We have personal sized deep dishes in Chicago. That's a pan pizza cosplaying as a Deep dish, it ain't even close.
6:27 Well, he's Italian. 😂
They are commenting on london pizza. I'm from Chicago and that isn't Cicago deep-dish pizza.
Here in the US we also eat hot apple pie with a slice of cheese on top.
We don't that's a certain state
I think Aiden would like Detroit-style pizza. They're the ones who put a layer of sauce on top after baking it and it's essentially a "pizza-lasagna".
So good with the crispy buttery edges. 🤤
I always get the feeling that Aiden has an aversion to anything American because he tends to subtly knock them
Peanut butter and jam in MRE Aiden - TYPICALLY AMERICAN !!!
Aiden at start of video - Italians are very serious about their food and don't like it when someone messes with it
Aiden videos- Why Americans Are Dumb. What Europeans Think of Americans
As a Chicagoan, like the vast majority of Chicagoans, I prefer thin crust usually cut in squares.. Once in awhile I love a "Chicago style" pizza but this style varies widely by restaurant. This is not Chicago Style. It is a bad idea to translate any local dish to other locations. We have New York Style pizza here and I daresay it is different in New York. Something simple, like macaroni and cheese, varies WIDELY in the United States depending on the region, and for that matter, mother's own recipe.
Agreed. We call those deep dishes (non-pequods) tourist pizza. Because that's the only time locals will eat it: when tourists come into town.
Tavern style is the true pizza most popular amongst locals.
We Americans take food from around the world and Americanize it.
So they did it too. 😅
Englishizing our pizza. 😂
Young man needs to get out of the house and live. He lives too much in his comfort zone. Everything is alien to him. I don’t like onions but I LOVE mushrooms on pizza. Hawaiian pizza with pineapples is not my favorite but I do like it especially with Canadian bacon (ham). I’m not gonna push it away. My favorite is a thin crust with barbecue sauce, bbq chicken and mushrooms and some bacon on it. Oh that is a little bit of heaven here on earth. Of course, without trying it, Aiden won’t like it. “barbecue sauce on a pizza!!” It’s so much more refreshing after eating so much Italian sauce on pizza along with the Heart burn..
Please watch the Jon Stewart bit when he goes in on Chicago Deep dish pizza it is the most funniest thing that I have ever seen LMFAO.🤣
Carbonara is eggs and egg yolks, Pecorino Romano cheese, Guaniciale and black pepper.
This ⬆️. It is not cream and bacon.
Plus some of the pasta water used to cook the pasta (very important!). The key to correct carbonara is to cook the eggs under proper conditions like low heat so the eggs stay creamy and don't become scrambled eggs. If you can't find guanciale, then pancetta. Absolutely no cream or bacon.
Aidan’s reaction to the random fake hairy chest comment absolutely killed me 😭🤣
I honestly can never get over _HOW_ the heck Mr. Z manages to get that cheese stretch so beautifully. And if anything... my Italian friend would be livid with how creamy the carbonara is. They told me they won't do it unless they're moisturizing day old pasta or for a sick person.
@11:51 my favorite pizza is ham Pineapple and black olives
Mine too!
Let's be real. The way that humans work, if Italians originally had pineapples readily accessible they'd now be telling us that we're wrong for NOT adding pineapple.
Eat whatever food, whatever way that makes you happy.
You think Italians didn't have pineapple
@@flash980 Read what i wrote very very slowly. As slow as you need.
@@jacenjustice I mean you think they don't have there own sweet fruit readily accessible..and they still didn't put it on pizza..I doubt they would put pineapple on pizza
@@flash980 But that's exactly what they did. They literally took the flat bread and cheese that many cultures were eating at the time, and added a sweet and acidic fruit to it (tomato). What makes you think that they wouldn't have used pineapple?
@@jacenjustice tomato isn't a sweet fruit tho
That is NOT Chicago deep dish pizza. Those are bread bowls.
It’s a good thing we have McDonald’s restaurants here in the US, or Sophie would starve when she visits.
I love seeing Gayna smile. She smiles on every episode 😆
Gaynor
@@quasicrystal5166 Gay-na?
@@spirituallyyoujustbeenx185 Her name is spelled Gaynor. Not sure if you noticed but she has an accent. Lmao
Apples and cheddar cheese on a cracker is very good, swiss works too.. and of course in the heart of the States, you serve a slice of cheddar with a warm slice of apple pie.. if Gee orders too much pizza, wrap each individual and freeze! great late night snack Aiden!
American pizza... It was a bunch of Italians that came over and started making pizza. They make what sells.
Do you wanna keep it strictly traditional? or do you want a big house and a new car?
Hubby n I went to this new pizza restaurant in Utah years ago. We were talking to the guy at the counter. He said he was the owner/Chef. He said he came straight from New York and his family came from Italy. There was no flavor in the sauce/crust. It took flavor out of my mouth. It was so upsetting. Luckily the desert was unbelievably yummy. That restaurant was not there the next time we drove down that main road.
Italian "real" carbonara is made with fat extracted from a certain cured ham and egg that never solidified. What you thought was cream, was "fatty egg sauce".
Chest Hair : One of my friends does that, he only shaves enough so he can wear a V-neck T-shirt, but he doesn't shave his entire chest. It's weird seeing him at the beach.
Pesto is one of my favorite things in the world to eat, right up there with fried chicken.
My Sicilian grandma used to make homemade spaghetti and meatballs but the meatballs were hand made and they were roughly 3 inches in diameter and they were so good
You guys should watch their trip to Italy with him. He takes them on a multiple video amazing week in Italy
Carbonara sauce traditionally is pecorino Romano, egg, pasta water, guanciale, and pepper. That's it. No cream, no bacon, no peas or whatever other odd stuff people tend to add for some reason. I'll disagree with Mr. Z on one point though, the texture is meant to be creamy because you are essentially making an egg and cheese cream by emulsifying with pasta water. The carbonara sauce should be silky smooth and rich.
Yea they had me laughing..I don't think they've ever had it😂😂
Watermelon and feta cheese with pita bread is actually really good.
Anchovies - yes; basil - ye; pineapple -- NO.
It looks tasty, but those aren't deep dish. They are pan pizzas layered like a Chicago pizza.
The Manchester weather joke 😂. Manchester Gang!
How can Aiden be Gaynor’s son? 😂
Those are not Chicago style pizzas. Those are pot pies.
Carbonara sauce is eggs (mostly yolk), pecorino cheese and black pepper. Anything else is blasphemy.
Watch the jolly video in Chicago and you'll see real deep dish , idk what this is it's so bad that I watched this jolly video and made real deep dish that night
Chicago deep dish in Chicago is the best
Carbonara is raw egg, cheese and guanciale (pig cheek. Kinda like bacon)
Just goes to show how unwilling the rest of the world really is. So restricted on trying different food.🤔
Sophie's got that cute smile again 😂..
I don't really have anything to say, I'll just copy paste everything from now on ..
There's no bacon in cabanara and there is egg i dont think you've ever made cabanara
That's not Chicago Style Deep Dish. That's more like an open Pot Pie.
*Bay-zille not bah-zul
Italians from Italy just don't know what pizza is, like everything America made it better, they can't handle the improvement.
Chicago is Land of the Stinking Onion, the word is Native not Italian.
Lmao a American would say this bollocks
Disgrace... like everything else americans touch they tripple the size, use worse ingredients and pretend they came up with something great. Stick to the bbq guys, you do that well, the rest not so much.
That's because we've f---ing AMERICANIZED the pizzas they know. I befriended an Italian and they showed me what the real one looks like.
Ham and pineapple not great, bacon and pineapple🎉🎉🎉amazing 🐷 🍍
Try to watch their videos of when they came to Italy
What's funny about what Aiden said about Italians getting ticked off about when people taking their food, and making a version of their own.....
They did the same thing with Greek foods, Middle Eastern foods, and other culture's foods.
I'm seeing how other countries are making some American foods, their own. Rather than infuriating, it's actually interesting, to me.
Case in point, it's a British version of an American dish. Which has taken influence by an Italian dish, but makes it bigger.
Hawaiians piazza came from canada.
Rob is correct, that is not “Chicago Style” deep dish. Lived my whole life in suburban Chicago and have never seen one that looks like a pastry 😳😉
This is not Chicago deep dish… it’s something that I’m not too familiar with.
That doesn't look like Chicago deep dish to me. It looks like a bread bowl.
I hate Bazil with a passion.
Not every pizza I've had has a prominent bazil flavor, but many do. I can't eat it if it does. It's way to strong.. Took me years to even figure out what herb it was that I hated so much. I finally figured it out when I started making pizzas from scratch.
I'm from the chicago area, that's not chicago deep dish
I thought pesto was made with ground pine nuts.
Plus basil and olive oil and Parmesan
@@limeygaynor Yes but Aiden said ground basil was pesto which confused me.
It’s not even close to a Chicago pizza lol looks like big piece of flavored dough
He is looking for Naples Pizza, By the way THAT is NOT Pizza !!!! American here.
People from Chicago don’t eat deep dish. Its touristy more then anything. Thin crust square cut pizza is what we eat here
So this is how Italians feel about American versions of their food. I feel the same seeing someone brutalize the deep dish like that...
Pepperoni pizza is really good with pineapple on it.
No
That is NOT Chicago deep dish.
Wtf kinda deep dish is that? I live in Chicago and ive never seen those
A slice of hot apple pie with a slice of cheddar or American cheese melted on top is quite delicious.
Your a monster
So is a glass of hot apple pie.
I never tried it before but I love a good slice of apple pie.
Not deep dish and we have authentic Italian pizza shops like Spacca Napoli
Soph, I’m lovesick.
The medicine for this would be to hang out with offline friends and or offline hobbies for a while. I know you didn't ask man, but it's sincere advice. Be well, take care.
That pizza is not how chicago deep dish pizza looks like or is made like that.
Way to much crust!
Chicago pizza isn't doughy. The crust is quite thin.
I've had Chicago style pizza (here in the US very controversial that it's not real pizza) in Chicago and that ain't it. Not even close.
Like you all I'm a thin crust kind of guy. With that said, real Chicago style pizza while tasty for what is, it's not something I would go to again, and IMHO I don't consider it pizza. It's more like a crusty lasagna with all of the layers etc.
0:13 You mean like the way they (the Italians) took the Chinese's noodles and made it into something else - pasta?
Oh... you're stupid 😭😂
That is not Chicago Deep Dish Pizza I like Jolly Channel But As Someone from the Chicago Area I am offended by that
it's bad enough calling chicago style pizza, "pizza".....these are just straight up pies lol
Mr Z probably manscapes. Also Carbonaro does not have cream. Those while 1 looks good are not Chicago style pizza. And pineapple on pizza is nasty
thats not chicago pizza
Those are NOT Chicago-style pizzas... The crust is all wrong among others things. I would eat them all...
Pineapples on pizza🤮🤮🤮
First or second ? Or does my wifi suck? Lol
Real pizza IS Chicago style. Go there. Per capita I bet there are more Italians there than in New York. If it’s doughy or runny, they did it wrong. Really wrong. The main difference, besides not being cardboard with sauce, is that the cheese goes on top of the other toppings. Meaning that all of the toppings join hands and create an unbelievable flavor. Then it’s cooked. Whatever that is in the video, it’s NOT Chicago pizza
It is not real pizza for me. I have had other pizzas and honestly: I never had a good one. My stomach has issues with certain styles:
This isn't anything like Chicago deep dish
he shaves his neck
🥴
I love Pineapple on my Pizza. I also like chopped up dill pickles with my Pineapple Pizza. With either Pepperoni or Pork sausage. So good. Lol
It's okay because deep dish isn't pizza anyway.
That isnt Chicago deep dish...
Bland British has made you guys so picky and afraid of flavor..
Hawaiian Pizza with chicken instead of ham is so good.
A peanut butter and cheddar sandwich is pretty tasty.
Terrible example of deepdish unfortunately. If I had any money I would open something in London.
Thats not Deep Dish Chicago Style pizza. The Britts cook it to their liking, bland and boring. And it wasn't even invented by some Italian dude.
Pizza in most of italy sucks
Says no one
Totally agree. Its so chewy and rubbery. Just get pasta if youre in italy.
Deep dish is an abomination and needs to be stopped. I'm from the Chicagoland area and have had my share of it. Nobody can convince me that it's actually pizza or good 🤣. It's sort of a novelty thing too that's more popular to people out of the region than in it. I think most Chicago style pizza that is popular by the actual residents in Chicago is not deep dish, but rather just a thicker and doughy crusted pizza.
Wow , that is an insult to Chicago deep dish. Delete this video
eww those look gross
That is what deep dish Chicago style looks like
Pizza is way more an American dish than an Italian dish. Calling pizza "Italian" is literally like calling hamburgers "German." F*ck what "the Italians" or an "Italian chef" have to say about pizza. American tourists visiting Italy after WWII had a hard time even finding a pizzeria,..that's how much the Italians knew or cared about pizza. Actually, pizza was never an Italian food at all: it was a Neapolitan street food in the 1800s and was almost never eaten outside of Naples.
This bs that Americans like to tell themselves has already been debunked many times. Pizza is Italian. Cope and seethe.
