Hi. That Celt might merit closer examination... The edge has a typical silver chloride crumbly texture of ones I have found and seen. The strike looks clean and of a quality one would expect from a good grade silver unit from perhaps 10AD to 40 AD. As to how it found its way to your magic wood, maybe the stash holds a clue! Great find, Brad, and surely a first for your great Country.
Somebody buried these ages ago, maybe a child doing some kind of wish-making ritual, not knowing dudes in camo would someday find them while giggling and farting.
Hey Hoover Boys! I've been watching you guys for about a year now. Thank you all for the great videos. I started detecting yesterday. I wouldn't have started without watching you all and seeing all the amazing things you find. Have fun out there detecting. Give Bill a hug for me. Peace
I've been a fan of the Hoover Boys for a while now and seen hundreds of episodes but somehow just saw this one for the first time. It instantly became one of my all time favorite episodes! I love that it was just a spontaneous adventure. A good time with great friends that became a GREAT time. Metal detecting = the best hobby. Love you guys.
Congratulations Bill! You definitely deserve everything you found. I’m sorry to hear of you Pops! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You guys are great guys for supporting Bill!
This is the third time I'm watching this because Bill's reaction is priceless. All three of you were like giddy school kids. Its why I love watching you all and of course the finds too.
I watch you guys religiously and I don’t comment much but this week I felt like I needed to. Y’all are an absolute pleasure!! The actual friendship thank Love that you have for each other is fantastic and contagious and I would watch it even if there was no metal detecting but there is and that makes it so much better. I cane to the US 24 yrs ago and seeing the group together makes me realize how much I miss my friends, the real, true friends. Thank you for yet another fantastic episode. I look forward to man, many more. P.s. great finds Buffalo Bill, you deserve it brother.
I carry fairly crazy items in my pocket sometimes because if I'm having a moment, I take it out and hold it to center me. I lost a Byzantine folis once because there was a hole in my pocket. I own a one ounce silver bar and carry it sometimes because I like the feel of it 🙂
Just goes to show how much fun you can have with this hobby even when the finds are not that old. And congrats to Brad on his first celtic, can't wait to see him dig a real one. You know he's going to!
My theory is it is a cache of items a kid had stolen and hidden. It may have been scattered when the house that occupied the spot was torn down. Great finds and still my favorite channel. When I go visit family in Maryland, I would love to meet you guys!!
Congrats, Bill! What a way to start the year!!! It was awesome watching you guys have so much fun you were giggly. Thanks, Kurt, for bringing the Hoover Boys to us all with such regularity and quality!
Some kid had a mason jar full of stuff he wasn't supposed to have, and he tripped, the stuff went everywhere. It was raining, they were late for church, and Dad was pissed 'couse his sister wasn't ready. The kid kept his mouth shut, and didn't get caught, but felt guilty the rest of his life. Actually his dad knew but didn't say anything.
Thanks boys. In 1965 I was six years old. I lived in Odenton, Maryland. On my way home from school one day. I stopped by a lttle creek. For some reason I dug around looking for something. Didn't know why. In the mud of the creek bed my hand came upon something hard and cold. I pulled it out and wiped it off. I had found an 1831 large cent! That started my coin collection. But two years ago, while I was on the Ubahn (underground subway) here in Vienna. Someone stole it. And that really sucks! (When I get back to the states I'm going to have to buy a metal detector.) But you guys rock. Keep digging around. Good luck. Peace.
Some 11 year old boy put all his most valuable treasures in the ground and left the shovel to mark the spot and the family moved to Cali when he was 13 so he never got to comeback for it. Others hearing the treasure was not recovered came looking for it over the years and dropped the other spread out coins. That's my story..... Ps...the boys grand parents traveled and brought himback the squished pennies from where they went. His other grandpa worked for the railroad so theboy was always gathering old watches with his treasures.
Good on you Brad for giving the stuff you found to Bill. I know hunters who act like your friend but would have night hawked it and kept it for themselves. This hobby is so much more enjoyable without the greed. Keep up the great work guys!!
Awesomely weird but funny hunt guys! Congrats on the ….. cache, Loot, spill? lol. I had to laugh at you butt dusting Brad!! Good one! Great video guys! GL & HH!
Something tells me that kids did a treasure cache there under the tree with the Canadian coins from grandpa and grandma. One kid had a silver bar his mom or dad got him and he figured to add it to the cache. The watch fell off as they dug the hole. They got to playing and for got to go back and retrieve the booty. They got grown, got busy and forgot all about it. And Billy found it. So happy for all involved. No one would believe this unless it was filmed, which it was. Great time fella's. Oh and back in the day, those silver bars were cheap as silver was dirt cheap then. And on a side note, please give Billy my warmest condolences on the loss of his pops. I know how he feels. I miss mine a lot.
I was going to tell you about the "Episode" I had digging 2 IHP's (1883+1907) a holed Barber quarter 1896 and a Canadian nickle 1906. I know you're all unimpressed as you find them every other day but they were less than 20cm apart in a field near Drymen just north of Glasgow here in sunny Scotland, but after watching you guys on todays episode it seemed like small change (haha). Keep making these awsome videos and I'll keep watching. All the best for 2019.
Honestly, just a very cool video and finds. Nothing like an unplanned day like that with good friends. Sorry to hear about your loss Bill, but glad you got to find such and crazy and cool cache. Probably some kids treasure that he buried and forgot about, maybe moved around when then were working on the park or something. Great start for 2019!
These are one of your episodes with the least amount of old finds, yet I have been detecting for two years and everything you found today is better than everything I have found in my entire life! I'm jelly because I can't afford a detector anywhere near yours. I have a bounty hunter discovery 3300.
Thks for the quick answer. Me being a Canadian just found it odd that you were calling our pennies Canadian wheaties but now I see your reason. Most coins you find are American. I have a small collection of both countries. Being close to 80 I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work guys. Nice silver bar found also. Good surprise. 😀

My thought was that using Canadian pennies to a make the flat tokens would be cheaper than using US cents. Some machines I've seen will take your penny, and others spit out from a blank. I'm with the thought that a vacation destination burned and those were lost. But, who knows...
This is the best metal detecting vid I've seen... It's got craziness to the finds, friends eager and happy to dig and help, and ole dude diggin' is hilarious...lol
Now that was different! Some kid must have stashed this there for some bizarre reason. What a way for you guys to start off your year, if this is a sign is what is to come, I can't wait to see what you guys find next!
One of the best memories I have with me and two of my friends was walking up a major interstate with one pair of shoes to share. That’s a memory we will have forever and a conversation that comes up every time we have drinks.
Looks like a good hunt! Kurt you found my bucket lister a Canadian large cent I LIVE in Canada and still have not found one, but I have found a 1885 British penny that was shot and a 1917 half penny. Closest I have come was a 1920 small cent that was made into a love token. In 1920 the had both large and small cents issued in Canada.
Over the yrs, I have read that people yrs ago always buried their valuables because there was no safes or security boxes in the home, so I'm guessing the kids did the same thing with the pressed pennies..great video, thanks for sharing!!
@@thehooverboys you might try going to your town hall or library and look for old property maps, maybe find a location where the houses are gone that were on the map...just a suggestion..
It was getting to the point I half expected you to dig up the rolling machine. lol What an amazing find! Weird, but amazing. That had to be a once in a life time find. All your videos are great but this one was a peach. 😃🙂👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome video guys. I am thrilled with Bill's cache find. His emotions were priceless and Brad's arm on the shoulder support says a lot. Congratulations Bill!
Wow! If that's any indication of how the year is going to go, this is going to be a fun year. Congrats to Billy on the first silver of the year! I have to do this, Congrats to Brad for the first counterfeit of the year, hehehehe! You get one too Kurt for the bucket lister. :)
I've always wanted to go back to my childhood yard growing up. If no one else has found them there are a couple jelly jars full of change and stuff I thought was cool when I was 8 or 9. I'm sure my ten paces from the tree were alot shorter lol. Thanks for bringing back some childhood memories. Great episode. Congrats to you all. Take care.
I don't know what could be more fitting for your first coin of 2019 than a fatty IHP. Congrats to Brad on getting a Largie for his first. Very fitting as well. Thank God Brad didn't break that bar! LOL That was an incredible cache and a ton of fun to watch with you guys. Thanks for sharing Kurt and great video as always. ATB Greg
I wondered where I dropped my coins, very strange drop site. Awesome find! Sorry to hear about Bills grand dad. You found older Canadian coins that I’ve ever seen.
Thank you guys for constantly kicking out new video's. Cant ever get enough metal detecting thats for sure. What a nice coin spill you uncovered guys. Never gets old. Oh when summer gets around I will be busy doing the same things.
Break in half...Toooo Funny! When you hit the Cashe from that point on it was a solid laugh-fest. Thanks for sharing because this video made my day brighter. We are frozen over here on Delmarva, waiting for a thaw to get out. Thanks again and great video!
Brad is absolutely right lol. We hate digging those pennies here on the east coast. Freakin weird day! Congrats to Brad for his largie, you for your Canadian large cent, and Bill for that awesome silver bar!
"Shark Teeth" Yet ANOTHER interesting hobby... Likely there are ST Hunter-clubs & 'Shark Tooth Hunter Magazine!' -- annual convention etal! (Not a mock... I'd likely go nuts being 'trained' with you guys, then finding my "own" first shark tooth!) You're just 2:25 into the vid & it's a winner of info for me to research ALREADY --- Thanks guys. ~keithkeys>
My guess is that it's someone's old home/shop... They'd buy/sell old coins, silver, and gold and etc. For the smashed pennies, they used Canadian pennies because "technically" it is against the law to deface or alter U.S. currency on U.S. soil. So using Canadian would not only make it cheaper (because the exchange rate) but it would also be a loophole for the legal stuff. Take one Canadian penny in 1968 which was worth less than 1 U.S. penny, smash it, and stamp a design on it, and sell it for a dollar or 2 and you just made a profit of over 100% on each piece and didn't have to break the law to do it.
@PRESTO You do know that they research and travel to places of historic value right? Like old farms, trading posts, and etc... Nothing fake about that. It's called having a strategy. Also, if you watched all of their videos, you'd know they don't always kill it.
Great finds. Brad's comments about detecting on the east and west coast of Canada are so true. Being a far left coaster even finding 1940s coins can be few and far between. Love the silver bar, that was so random. That Canadian large cent looked amazing.. I cant wait to see Bobby's face when Bill drops that silver bar on him.

You guys have way to much fun. Its to frigging cold up here to do a dang thing. I cant WAIT till warm weather!!!
Thanks Rhonda! Come on spring!
This is the best metal detecting vid I've seen... It's got craziness to the finds, friends eager and happy to dig and help, and ole dude diggin' is hilarious...lol
Thanks!
Now that was different! Some kid must have stashed this there for some bizarre reason. What a way for you guys to start off your year, if this is a sign is what is to come, I can't wait to see what you guys find next!
Thanks! We appreciate it
That was awesome. All with a shared detector.
It was actually a lot of fun working together
One of the best memories I have with me and two of my friends was walking up a major interstate with one pair of shoes to share. That’s a memory we will have forever and a conversation that comes up every time we have drinks.
Looks like a good hunt! Kurt you found my bucket lister a Canadian large cent I LIVE in Canada and still have not found one, but I have found a 1885 British penny that was shot and a 1917 half penny. Closest I have come was a 1920 small cent that was made into a love token. In 1920 the had both large and small cents issued in Canada.
That’s awesome Mark! I’d love to see the love token. Altered coins are so fascinating to me
Awesome video as usual. Congrats Bill on the great find. Really sorry about your loss. Hoover Boys kick a**.
Thank you Daron
Over the yrs, I have read that people yrs ago always buried their valuables because there was no safes or security boxes in the home, so I'm guessing the kids did the same thing with the pressed pennies..great video, thanks for sharing!!
Absolutely! Wish we could find an older cache some day. Thank you for the support!
@@thehooverboys you might try going to your town hall or library and look for old property maps, maybe find a location where the houses are gone that were on the map...just a suggestion..
Dang the gift that keeps on giving
It was getting to the point I half expected you to dig up the rolling machine. lol
What an amazing find! Weird, but amazing. That had to be a once in a life time find.
All your videos are great but this one was a peach. 😃🙂👍🏻👍🏻
Hahaha! Thanks Ian. We appreciate it
Wow, absolutely crazy!
Thanks!
Awesome video guys. I am thrilled with Bill's cache find. His emotions were priceless and Brad's arm on the shoulder support says a lot. Congratulations Bill!
We appreciate that. Thank you
Man I'm like halfway through and what is going on! This is hilarious you guys beep on beep on hit me up if you're ever in Indiana Brothers!!!
Wow! If that's any indication of how the year is going to go, this is going to be a fun year. Congrats to Billy on the first silver of the year! I have to do this, Congrats to Brad for the first counterfeit of the year, hehehehe! You get one too Kurt for the bucket lister. :)
Hahaha! Thank you. It was such a fun day
That was a cool hunt guys! Good job Bill! Sorry about gramps! 😕
Yes, Bill sorry for your loss!
Thank you
Scott thank you
William Hill 👍🏻
That was crazy!
You have put everything in 1 big display case just to show the caliber of the find
Thanks Nick. Absolutely!
Take care.
Wonderful comment. That’s what this hobby does for me. Brings me back to a much simpler time in life. All the best
ATB Greg
Thanks Greg. Good thing it was protected. Hehe. ATB!
Thank God for the Bradphylactic. lol
I wondered where I dropped my coins, very strange drop site. Awesome find! Sorry to hear about Bills grand dad. You found older Canadian coins that I’ve ever seen.
Thanks Marty
Silver bar was amazing!!
Thanks! It was so unexpected
And now for something completely different...
It certainly was
Thank you guys for constantly kicking out new video's. Cant ever get enough metal detecting thats for sure. What a nice coin spill you uncovered guys. Never gets old. Oh when summer gets around I will be busy doing the same things.
Thanks Herber! All the best
What an amazing dig! Shows that some of the best times are unplanned and true exploration! Way to go Bill!! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely! They’re the most enjoyable days
Thanks for the video that looked like a fun day!
Thanks Curtis!
Brad can find a large cent in a surface find at a gas station bathroom.. Dude is lucky.
That is wild.
Gas station copper still on the list!! Thanks man.
He walked straight to it. There has to be more in those woods
Love your vids! Inspired me to metaldetector.
That’s awesome! Thank you for the support
Break in half...Toooo Funny! When you hit the Cashe from that point on it was a solid laugh-fest. Thanks for sharing because this video made my day brighter. We are frozen over here on Delmarva, waiting for a thaw to get out. Thanks again and great video!
Thank you for the support! Hope it thaws soon
Brad is absolutely right lol. We hate digging those pennies here on the east coast. Freakin weird day! Congrats to Brad for his largie, you for your Canadian large cent, and Bill for that awesome silver bar!
And the guys out west can't get enough of them no doubt. Just the way it goes....
Hahaha! Thank you
"Shark Teeth"
Yet ANOTHER interesting hobby...
Likely there are ST Hunter-clubs & 'Shark Tooth Hunter Magazine!' -- annual convention etal!
(Not a mock... I'd likely go nuts being 'trained' with you guys, then finding my "own" first shark tooth!)
You're just 2:25 into the vid & it's a winner of info for me to research ALREADY --- Thanks guys. ~keithkeys>
Thank you Keith!
Nice finds never found a silver bar! But a gold bar maybe😊
Bill deserves those finds! Good job
Never leave your detector home lol
Thanks Mark
Thanks Howie. Great information and makes total sense or cents or pennies. Now I’m confused again... haha
@PRESTO You do know that they research and travel to places of historic value right? Like old farms, trading posts, and etc... Nothing fake about that. It's called having a strategy. Also, if you watched all of their videos, you'd know they don't always kill it.
Congrats Bill!! This was fun to watch.
Thanks Tanya
Love hearing a bunch of guys giggling over digging in the dirt...lol. Congrats guys !! Looked like some great fun.
Haha! Thanks. It’s our happy place
Hey Brad I Love My Nova Scotia Coppers LOL Congrats BILL Awesome Spill Awesome Hunt Guys H.H
Good deal!!
Haha! Thanks Jimmy
tell bill congrats on the find, and sorry to hear about his pops
Thank you. Will do
Never the end of weirdness with you guys. And the barking frog in the woods in the middle of winter. Amazing!
Haha! They’re the best
That was a great video, Kurt! Congrats to Bill for the coin Horde! Great finds and great fun!!
Thanks Robert!
Canadian wheaties lol. And you guys are right. I'm on the east coast of Canada and I hate digging those pesky buggers.
Hahaha! That’s awesome. Thanks
"Canucks Amok" *(We call Canadian pennies 'Canucks' up in MA - kind of a Hockey reference)
Hahaha! Love it
@@thehooverboys Or you can just call 'em "Hockey Pucks" ;)
Does anybody know the value of a 1920 wahouma chapter token
No idea
Wow! What fun! Made my day just watching it! Awesome video! Great humor! Great finds! Thanks for sharing!
Hahaha! Thanks Kelly. Unfortunately Leo ruined the fun of a hand drop
Always Always take your machine LOL!
I didn’t know we were going. I would have
