This is the best how to play kill team tutorial video I have found. It's explained clearly and simplifies the rules for complete beginners like me. Thanks the videos helped alot.
Thank you so much for a concise and clear video about the main game play. This has really been helpful. I know there will be more rules to come (such as LOS etc) however, it was really refreshing to watch a video that starts with the fundamentals and the foundations first with something to build on! (Like most good lessons at school!) Thanks so much
Thank you very much for this nice brief introduction video. It gave me the info I needed. I now know if I want to purchase this game or not. I love the t-shirt as well. 👌🏻
That's exactly what we are going for! Just a quick overview of the concepts and basic mechanics of the game so people can get a feel for it. Also, I have so many LoZ shirts 😅
I think it's too tedious keeping track of every model's wounds.. You basically have to keep 2 dice next to every model and continuously subtract. I prefer the old system of flesh wounds. If they get injured just add a little blood rock next to them and you know their accuracy went down 1 and their likelihood to die went up 1. On strike 3 they're out. I'm not saying this system is bad but I really enjoy the simplicity of the old version and seeing little blood pools accumulate on the table was aesthetically pleasing.
Does melee hits still need get armour saves or is that under parry now? Also if a model is attacked twice in 1 round can they fight back against the other models as well?
It's all under parry now. When rolling for Fighting, you only get to retain the rolls which meet or exceed your save, which obviously impacts how often you'll be able to Parry or Strike while Fighting. As best as I can tell, models are able to fight back as often as they are attacked.
Fusillade weapons state "After selecting a valid target, you can select any number of other valid targets with..." (Core Rules, page 142) Step 2 of the Shoot Action (CR, pg. 64) talks about what constitutes a valid target. "A valid target is an enemy operative in the active operative's Line of Sight that has no friendly operatives with its Engagement Range. Then Line of Sight (CR, pg. 70) is shortly defined as Visible, not Obscured, and not in Cover with the Conceal Order. All these terms are defined on the same page. So, ultimately yes, you can use a Fusillade weapon against an enemy with the Conceal Order, but only if they are not behind Cover. If they have the Conceal order and are behind Cover, you would not have LoS to them, and they would therefore not be a Valid Target. If you meant to ask if you can target an Obscured target (there are a lot of confusing and similar terms here), then No. You can not target an Obscured target with a Fusillade weapon, for the same reason as above. Hope that clears it up! 😅
Awesome overview. Concise and to the point. Great job. Thanks. Looks like it’s going to be a fast and brutal rules system. In the end though all you need to know is plastic Krieg. Thought to be a thing of myth and legend, but I digress 😃🤣🤣🤣
I can't find out what those orange triangles are on the data sheets for the units (Sword icon, shield icon, crosshair icon, arrow icon). It isn't explained in the core book as far as I can tell. Anyone have any idea?
I tried looking at the website and the links to the different factions don't work. Is there a list anywhere of all the faction options, for example there's Krieg I've seen them in the boxed set, but can you have other Guardsmen like Cadians, Steel Legion or Catachans? And which guys are veteran Guardsmen? Any link to a good guide would be ace 😁.
On page 64 of the Core Rules, in the Shoot section, under '5. Resolve Successful Saves' it states "If the defense dice they select are two normal saves, they select one of their opponent's critical hits to be discarded."
Thanks!! The Octarius box has everything you need for 2 players to jump in and start playing. If you have someone also looking to get into the game, splitting this box down the middle is a great way to get started. We also made another video going over everything in the Octarius box, if you're curious about that! ua-cam.com/video/Ex2D-bjuRmc/v-deo.html
But what books do I need to play? I've seen a Kill Team Compendium, and a Kill Team Core Rulebook but the rulebook i've only seen on Ebay (and don't know if it's specific to the Octarius box).
There are several editions of kill team so you might be seeing the old edition's rulebook. The Compendium has the stat cards for units from every other currently available faction. Hope that helps!
The Octarius Core Rules have a few data sheets for the models in the box. For everything else, there's the Kill Team Compendium, which has data sheets for all the other factions.
Models Falling Back(p.62): "It can move within Engagement Range of enemy operatives, but cannot finish the move within Engagement Range of an enemy operative. If this is not possible it cannot perform this action (the action points subtracted for the FALL BACK action are refunded)."
GW logics. A Tringale is NOt three (3), A square is NOT four (4), 6 is a pentagon (but hexagon is not used?), a circle is not one (1) but..... Good short video!
I do like the movement icons overall, but I'll agree the choice on which icons represent which values are not how I would have done it 😅 Thanks for watching!
"Other than Command Reroll, each player can use each Tactical Ploy no more than once per Turning Point. If a Tactical Ploy is not used during a Turning Point, it is only limited by the number of Command Points you have." - Core Rule Book, page 58
This version of Kill Team is really friendly to new players. A lot of the mechanics are more abstracted, which older players might find weird (like the movement icons). But it's a great, tight game that I would definitely recommend.
This new version shares many high-level design similarities with Star Wars LEGION. It feels like it was deliberately moved closer to the "Asmodee lineage" of rules layout, and slightly further from the "GW lineage" that you see in their other games.
NGL I found this video very hard to understand. Condensing everything into 7 minutes meant I was bombarded with information and without a good explanation of what things do, rather than what things are.
To each their own! Some people like a quick, broad overview of general concepts and, for others, it's too densely packed. Sorry this video didn't work out for you! You can also check out our Advanced Rules video, where we go into more detail about a lot of mechanics. ua-cam.com/video/RbMIR2ITh8E/v-deo.html
THIRD edition. first edition came out in 2016, 2nd came out in 2018, this is the 3rd iteration, a brand new system, rather than a stripped down 40k system.
Sir you sound like you are talking to children, could you use a normal speaking to adults voice and re-record this? Although this might be good, I can't listen to it.
Oh hey, buddy. I'm sorry you didn't like how I did my video. I know that sometimes people don't do things how you want, and that can make you mad. But that's all just part of growing up. Can't always get what you want. Right, bud?
Sir you did in 7 minutes what others couldn't in 30- 40 minute videos!!
Why use many word, when few word do trick?
Agreed i literally watched an entire video of a guy talking for an hour an still was lost an confused so thank u "Bols"
Honestly one of the best overviews on how to play without making it complicated. Thank you!
That's so great to hear! We try to focus on really concise overviews and so glad you enjoyed it!
Much better than the official how to play videos. Thanks!

Came here from the official Warhammer videos. So much better and more clear
Thank you. My friends and I are trying to get into this so we can play it on the days we want smaller days and this has been a TON of help!

this helped a bunch as i found the book fairly unusable on it's own to figure out how the game should work
0:30 you forgot to remove a piece of sprue from the window on that barricade.

Agree. They should have kept it at a max 6 wounds. One small d6 would be fine and below half is easy for being injured.
Really helpful video thanks
Great overview!
Funny how each new edition of kill team gets more and more like OPR GF Firefight.
Did GW send you guys a review copy? Did you sign the NDA beforehand?

why- why the shapes? just write 1,2,3'-
For weapons with Fusillade if I target a visible character can I hit a concealed character in range? Pre-emptive thank you

Those icons are for Narrative Play. They indicate which Battle Honors that unit can accept. It's detailed on Page 99.
@@belloflostsouls Oh man, thanks for clarifying that. I just got into KT2.0 and it's a bit confusing to me. Should be building the armies this week!
Glad to help! Good luck with your team 😁

In ep 3 (Firefight) on the warhammer UA-cam channel it says you may not expend 2 normal dive to cancel out a critical hit. Am I mistaken?
On page 64 of the Core Rules, in the Shoot section, under '5. Resolve Successful Saves' it states "If the defense dice they select are two normal saves, they select one of their opponent's critical hits to be discarded."
Awesome video. What items are recommended to purchase for a brand new player to start playing?
Thanks!!
The Octarius box has everything you need for 2 players to jump in and start playing. If you have someone also looking to get into the game, splitting this box down the middle is a great way to get started.

Do the books have data sheets for every faction or are the models more general than factions?
The Octarius Core Rules have a few data sheets for the models in the box.
For everything else, there's the Kill Team Compendium, which has data sheets for all the other factions.
Falling back,… same rules as movement? Can they ignore enemy models as they fall back ?
Models Falling Back(p.62): "It can move within Engagement Range of enemy operatives, but cannot finish the move within Engagement Range of an enemy operative. If this is not possible it cannot perform this action (the action points subtracted for the FALL BACK action are refunded)."

Yeah choice of shapes was absurd lol
The tactical ploys can be used once per turn or once per game?
"Other than Command Reroll, each player can use each Tactical Ploy no more than once per Turning Point. If a Tactical Ploy is not used during a Turning Point, it is only limited by the number of Command Points you have." - Core Rule Book, page 58

Can I use my normal 40k models? I'm still new.
In a casual environment, that should be fine. Just make it clear which operative each model represents.
how do you find this compared to the first edition ?

What the fuck was wrong with the numbered inch movement before? why are they using shapes??? Jesus if it aint broke don't fix it
So much grey models :'(
killteam was designed to be more accessible? is this a joke?
I've been reading the rules, who ever wrote this needs a kick in the head.
It's written in wanky management speak.
