Yeah, the is one way the German flavor gun will never have quite the charm of Mr. K's universal wonder gun. The German was never, ahem, inexpensive (avoiding the misinterpretable "ch..." word.) When you could pick up a decent AK for $300, and a 1000+ rounds of ammo for another hundred, the extended time you could then spend with your new bride led to the kind of bonding that they make movies about. The German? It was good and quick, but cold, and she ended up with most your cash and you feeling exhilarated but wasted.
Still, if you can't get the piece of you dreams, the Germans make a good substitute. I'm betting the Koreans come out better in the long run, as they seem to anticipate value-pricing if production/importation is able to keep up with demand.

    • @johnnytyler5685
      @johnnytyler5685 4 дні тому

The reason the Indo FNCs haven't happened is because the gun-grabbing Communist who was in the White House until a few weeks ago had ordered the gun-grabbing Communists at the ATF to totally stop the import of rifle-type "pistols" into the country. My understanding is that it wasn't an actual, outright "ban" on the import of those types of firearms, the Communist-in-Chief just told ol' Toaster Head at the ATF to essentially "lose the paperwork" and slow-roll the process of greenlighting the import of those types of firearms to the point that it became a de facto ban.
Similar to the way they used to approve tax stamps before the Bruen decision scared them into approving suppressor and SBR/SBS stamps in like a week. You file the paperwork and then two years later you get your stamp. That's what they were doing with rifle-type "pistol" imports, of which the Indo FNC was one. Had the Commie's even further left DEI hire VP been elected last November, that import "approval" process would've been "delayed" for four more years. Maybe even been made a permanent outright ban.
Hopefully with Trump in office and the ATF swamp getting drained, that importation process will get back on a normal track and those Indo FNC "pistols" will get fast-tracked.

Even now, with AKs costing a premium, there are no 5.56 roller-delayed guns on the market that compete with AKs in cost and aftermarket support. I can buy an M90 for around $1000. The ZF-56 is $2100 and notoriously shitty. The PTR-63 is not out yet, and has a starting price of $1799. The CETME-L is the closest in price gun, at $1349. The problem with the AK community is that it is really two communities for the purpose of a market for companies to sell to
The first community are absolute diehard AK purists who will continue to acquire "bicycle parts" and are not a real market to cater to. KUSA's failure was in part due to these purists refusing to buy the KR-103 entirely, despite KUSA having eaten a huge bill to set that production up, and then just hoping that KUSA could eat ANOTHER massive loss tooling up for 5.56. These same people will say that zastavas are out of spec, polish AKs are too expensive for what they are (to them, a grossly inferior 7.62x39 carrier based 5.56 AK monstrosity), and that arsenals (which they ALSO refused to buy, and thus caused them to also stop making AKs for the US import market) are scalped. They insist on everything being exactly correct yet will not buy guns from the manufacturer to fund those very niche part fabrication operations.
The second community are the people who are actually buying AKs. These people are buying PSAs, Riley Defenses, Atlantic AKs, and Century AKs (WASRs if they feel like doing research). They do not care about it lasting 140k rounds. They do not care that the "WBP USA 100 series" does not use the correct rivets or trunnions. They just want a fun gun that is AK shaped and works like an AK that will at least shoot its purchase price (if not 5x) in ammo through it, and consider that good.
The industry is catering to the second community because they are actually BUYING the AKs. The first community has not bought a factory rifle for 20 years and will continue diverting what could be a lucrative market into "bicycle part" importers, because to them those "bicycle parts" being correct is more important than nurturing the growth of a company that is taking on very high risk and spending millions on presses, stamping dies, etc. The first community is in effect NOT A REAL MARKET, and is thus treated as "imaginary customers", where the perceived interest is high but the ACTUAL BUYING PROPORTION of these "interested" people is basically a rounding error of zero.
Like if you want to know why the beryls were discontinued, go and call Arms of America. Ask them how many beryls and beryl kits are just SITTING there in the warehouse. It is THOUSANDS. Thousands of rifles and parts that AK purists won't touch with a 50 ft pole.

Originally I think one of the biggest hurdles for AK people to move to roller is the HK tax. Lot of people got into AKs back in the day due to the low cost of weapons, ammo and it NOT being an AR based platform. (Which is why I originally got into AKs back in 2010. I just wanted something different, but also low cost ammo). Now unfortunately, AKs have approached boutique levels of cost, with arsenals hilariously being over $2000 sometimes, SLR series no longer manufactured, Romania every year wanting more and more for their imports, etc etc coupled with 762 ammo being almost the same price as 556. The gap is being closd..that being said however, a quality 556 Ak…let’s say a WBP jack being what 1200?, a FB at $1300 for military provenance; is still way cheaper than entering into 556 roller guns.
For instance there’s no 33 import right now, so you’re looking at 3000-4000 for an HK, or building a kit for around the 3500 mark. AP53 is a nice new import, but you’re still looking at $1700, plus a stock $400, then $200 extortion tax.
To turn 53 into 33…1700+lets say fixed stock 100+250 for barrel, 100 for cocking tube, then $600 for gunsmith work…still at 2750 just to have a rifle.
I say all that to say the gap is closing (in not the right way lol), but if prices on the roller delay guns come down with new imports especially a 33, 33k flooding the market etc, but also more options in the aftermarket space for stocks as I think the retractable and other parts are just absurdly priced for what they are..aka HK tax..I believe the Ak peeps will be more apt to collect and shoot them.

Many see the AK as the successor of sorts to the Sturmgewehr, but in fact I see the HK lineup as the actual evolution of that. The creation of the roller delayed system with the StG45 during the late period of the war, and the founding story of HK can attest to that. Not to mention, looking closely one can see some very similar and consistent design cues in these firearms that hint to this relationship.

This used to be correct, but the wide adoption of effective low velocity .223 bullets in off the shelf 556 ammunition has turned the 556 into the superior short barrel cartridge.
Same reason, 300 blackout (7.62x35) is superior to 7.62x39. Nobody makes ammunition or 7.62x39 that has good bullets, that work out of these shorter barrels. Hell MK262 and its civilian TMK counterpart make even 300 blackout almost completely irrelevant. The only reason 300 blackout is still considered a viable cartridge is because for nearly the same price as MK262 you can get 300 blackout with TMK bullets.

I love my AKs for the capability they offer and the looks. M70B1 and the original M70 (not M64) just look amazing. Same with the M76. I love the krink because it's just an amazing PDW and beats out most modern options in weight for size.
I have been wanting an HK53 (to convert to 9x39, use VSS mags, and make it into an integral) for a while and I also like the look. Don't really care about the history enough to justify it or even the AKs.
AK and G3 family owners loved to bicker back and forth about "no I actually built this and not assembled it" and "my welding/folding vs your welding/folding", but it was all tongue and cheek as we both hated on the AR crowd lol. (good times). I think whether or not the older AK community (who didn't do it for building/flipping cheap kits) gravitates to the turkish HK53s is if the QC is there or not. If it's garbage like what we are seeing from AK imports from WBP and Zusa, then there is no reason to. Also costs aren't what they were 10-25 years ago where kits were 10% of what they go for now and it was it's own niche community.
I don't think these HK clones will reignite anything as that time is just long gone. Even today in these groups, us "boomers" (not age related) know who's who and bullshit like it is 2008 and that will never change (even though more and more of us leave these groups/platforms for one reason or another).

The most pessimistic view is that if somehow the AK finally leaves official military service sometime in the next 100 years, there will still be another 100 years of pop culture showing it's villainous exploits. The Roller Delay guns are still too young and too straight laced to ever properly replace that. That being said however - the idea of a squad of goons, decked out with HK53s blasting away at a protagonist, is an extremely striking mental image.

First of all, Türkiye do not have conflict with Kurdish people "on Kurdish borders". There is no Kurdish country so tehere can't be a "border". However for 40 years PKK terrorist organization supported by USA attacts to our country and mostly to our Kurdish citizens inthe region to disrupt Türkiye.. PKK terrorist comes form Iran, Iraq and Syria and today USA invaded half of the Syria by using same PKK Terrorist so called YPG or SDF today...
I need to correct your first comment, as you being an old member of the Terrorist Supporter army,
    Please watch the link:
    ua-cam.com/video/cHpaIO-Pj10/v-deo.html
Secondly your comment on ""Turkish "ANTI-SUICIDE" Trigger Guard"" @16:03 is, if I put it kindly, it is bullshit.
I don't know from who you got your knowledge but it is wrong. In early days of of "profesional soldier" application in Turkish army, some professional soldiers fighting with PKK terrorist of yours, lost their trigger fingers with enemy fire while they were firing head-down suppresion fire (you simply hold the weapon in open and fire ) ..
Because they lost their trigger finger or hand they were put in to early retirement which wasn't good for them. So some genious in the field come with idea of improvised "finger protection" application which was banned completly. So this is not a Turkish army doing Suicide protection... this is your bullshit...
Thirdly Turkish MKE Factory which comes from Ottoman Impire times, was the main and only armory producing HK guns for the Turkish Military. The Zenit Arms in USA are importing HKG3s and again they are military grade being produced in th MKE.
    ua-cam.com/video/rV1rsKsKuys/v-deo.html
Turkish Army has been retiring HK G3s and others from frontlines, replacing with Turkish design and produced MPT-76 and MPT-55 familly of arms.

In early 2008, I came home on leave from an Iraq deployment for 18 days I think. I was looking to buy an AR-15 to do some plinking with my brothers. We went to a couple different gun stores and I had a chance to get an H&K type rifle in 5.56/.223 but ended up getting a PTR-91 in 7.62/.308. It was my first experience with H&K type firearms and it was a really good one. Out of the box, my first group of three shots could have fit inside a Gatorade cap and this was using the rotary sights. OMG I love the rotary sights! Anyways I was really impressed with the rifle at first.
To speak on the PTR-91's quality, it was amazing at first. But I only put a box of ammo through it while home on leave. When I got back from Iraq for good, nearly a year later, they had somehow ruined it! I spent $1,500 on this rifle and IDK what they did to it, but it wouldn't run very good. I think it they shot it to death. They were supposed to be watching my possessions but instead treated them like trash. I ordered to back home, 2,000 rounds of ammo for it, various types. Some of it was that really cheap Wolf steel cased 308 I think. I intended to use it for emergencies and they shot nearly all that ammo. Now I wonder how much of it was them ruining it VS it being a PoS?

I really would want you to cover the PTR rifles as an AK guy I I whole heartedly agree with you on ak guys liking Roller Delayed rifles I've been wanting to get into them for years and really wish we had more available HK33 clone here in the States I've always have felt it was underrated here. Really would love for you to give the platform more exposure

Is the AR just too ubiquitous, too well designed and too easy now days? Are we bored? We need a challenge? A unique unicorn that is ours alone?

Yes. The kind of people who are satisfied owning a decent AR and maybe a deer rifle or whatever are probably not watching lots of gun youtube videos.

Yes. ARs have the Glock problem, theyre "boring" because they work, and the majority of people buying them don't consider working to be entertaining enough.
Its weird that people purposely avoid liking a gun that works, but thats the luxury of not having to rely on it for its intended purpose.

I love both my 5.56 AK and 5.56 HK roller delays, sorry not sorry :)

Collecting wise I would love both the Krink and that shorty G3. It's like a 5.56 MP5, you get the HK slap, I do love that retracting stock. But I love the AK charge, the side folding mechanism, the cone muzzle. Otherwise I just love the AK104 decked out and a nice 18" heavy barrel rifle gas AR.

If you had a milspec 8.6 blk roller delay semi auto it would be a BEAST of a suppressor host.

Speaking of the 90 series gun in 5.56I want a longer barrel in a shorter muzzle device. Carl over in range highlighted some thing I think very interesting “magnetic roller delay”. Literally using magnets to slow the bolt carrier or control the rate. Somebody was prototyping it when he highlighted it apparently it worked and pistol caliber.

I have been fiending for an HK33 since I saw the sheriff in First Blood rock one. Unfortunately I cannot muster the financial irresponsibility to actually buy a parts kit 😢.
