"I saw a little bunny in my garden." Lol. One of the reasons I love watching your tutorials. Aside from a good teaching tutorial, Your fun and bubbly personality keeps me engaged.
When I was working, I looked forward to Fridays for the weekend. Now, I'm retired, and I look forward to Fridays for your tutorials! Thank you for all of them!
So cute that even after all the years Jenny has been quilting, she still gets excited when the points match perfectly! 👏☺️👍
Where did you get the tape to put on your sewing machine for a straight line.?
I have been collecting patterns for some time now, because I lost my pattern notebooks in a move about 5 yrs ago. One of my new patterns has stars like this in it so I am watching this to learn the technique. I'm almost 70 and taught myself how to make patchwork quilts about 10 years ago. Wanting one for myself as my blanket. It is 45 yrs old and I've slept under it almost every night. My 'blankie' was made with my mother helping me, it was my 1st. We made it by sewing 2 flat sheets together, adding a thick batting and tying it with yarn. Now, after all these yrs, it is threadbare.
With a corner chewed by a puppy, everyone important and loved in my life, have slept under it. It saddens me, but I need a new quilt. With a growing family, it seems that I have given all the patchwork quilts I have made, away over the years. So thank you very much for showing me how to sew "my" last quilt, top. The others I will make after it, will most likely be given away too. But this one will be mine. I'll send it out to be hand quilted, as I've lost my quilting frame and my hands are too arthritic to hand quilt again. Machine quilted tops are very pretty but a hand quilted quilt, is special.
Each one of my quilts have been made with love and kindness with every stitch. Lots of prayers are put into them, too!
I'll share my quilting tips to make a beautiful, treasured quilt with you who are reading this... The quilts you make today may be a life's comfort to those who are fortunate to sleep warm, under them. It's not the quilt so much as the blessings you put into them. Don't forget that little bit of extra, when you sew your quilts. I believe that thoughts are things, so never get angry or resentful as you sew your creations. Always ask God to bless your work as you hand the finished product to another.
God bless!
~Grammy D
Grammy D, you’re an inspiration. I love your sharing your journey of your blankie. After you make your new quilt.
Just a suggestion. Why don’t you section off your old one, and frame it with a little message about how it was made by you and your mum, and what it’s meant to you all these years. Then you can share your old blankie with loved ones who will cherish it and your memories.
From one grammy to another....Thank you for sharing your beautiful story and the message of prayers, love and feelings that you put in every quilt. How blessed are al of those quilt recipients to have one of your quilts. I am blessed with 5 grandkids who have all received a graduation quilt to take to college with grammy's love inside. Of course all 4 sons have also received quilts. Since I learned to quilt after 3 had finished college their quilts were wedding quilts...all king sized, since those "boys" range from 6'1" to 6'5"! One lucky son got a college graduation quilt and a wedding quilt.
This is amazing!! Imagine black centers, gold bands, and yellow points on a nice light blue background!!! Sunflowers and sky! I might just do that!!!
Looks like fireworks to me, beautiful...thanks Jenny.
Wow you always find a way to make what appears difficult easy again.
Beautiful quilt! It reminds me of an Amish quilt.
Hee hee! I love how you say to sew slow but the you take off like a Indy 500 driver! ❤
Jenny if after the block is trimmed you could snowball the corners and then you would have a spot of color in the center of the large black square.
Barbara Baker that’s a great idea!
I was just thinking that exact thing!
Genius idea 💡😊
How do you snowball the corners?
Love that idea!
..."Oh, I found a little bunny in my garden yesterday..... that's completely off the subject.." LOL I wanna hear about the bunny!!! Another great tutorial Jenny. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌈🦋💖
That's our Jenny!!
Tiger Lilly c=
Absolutely gorgeous. Looks Amish. So pretty. Thanks Jenny. Love that you are so real with us. Also that you are not always trying to sell something! You are very talented & have a wonderful staff (family). Happy Mother's Day ladies and God bless you and your families.
I love geometry! I see a Quilt of Valor with a dark blue background and red, white, and blue stars. Thanks, Jenny! By the way, I found a bobcat in my backyard. Yikes! Liz in Colorado
Nanna Liz. There are videos on UA-cam of Russian people who save bobcats etc and actually have one as a pet. They even shampoo it in the bath and it waits for its food to be cut up very patiently. Sometimes the bond between animals and humans surprises you, though I guess you shouldn't try this at home...😂
Liz - Thank you for sewing for Quilts of Valor.!
Love this quilt and love your little tip about sewing from the centre, flipping and sewing from the centre again... thank you Jenny 💕🇳🇿
Love this ❤️
Beautiful! Happy Mother’s Day to all the Missouri Star moms!
I love this easier way to do the diamonds! Also, I’m loving the new over your shoulder view of the actual sewing! So much easier for people like me who are visual learners!
I am also a visual learner!
Just love working with Jenny....it’s like having my mum with me....love you Jenny
Wow! No Y seams! I first saw this and thought, no way, but Jenny, you always make it "do-able"!!!! I just may try this!!!
😳 this looks so complicated but your calming voice gives me the confidence to try it.
Can't wait to do one.....
Thank you for sharing ❤️💗❤️💖
SENDING A BRIGHT WHITE LIGHT OF LOVE TO SURROUND THE UNIVERSE AND EVERYONE 🤗❣️❣️🤗💞💖🤗 AND HUGS FOR EVERYONE 🤗❣️❣️🤗💞

A bunny in the garden! Super cute!
Love, Love Love this quilt. "the bunny part made it even better!" There is a reason we all love Jenny.
The blocks just glow!🎉
Jenny , I want to make one of these but I'm going to tell you I'm going to have to watch you several more times for it to sink in this crazy brain of mine. You ARE JUST AMAZING ! I Love your tutorials!♥️♥️♥️
Making what appears undoable, doable. Thank you Jenny.
Love the look of this quilt. I'm finding I am hugely angley challenged and these stars are definitely difficult for me but when they turn out well so satisfying. Will try this as a table topper first.
Shari Hannah, the table topper is a great idea.
Yup! This one's got me thinking...... the what if syndrome? I'm thinking flowery with either deep blue side squares, or a pale blue? I have a Gabriella JR..... hhhhmm? Love it too in that black, but ya use what you've got sometimes! And yes, very Amish!! Love you guy's! Thanks for gettin you're creative juices together! Aaaaaahhhh, a wonderful tutorial with Jenny!.. I am complete now. Until next thursday..... hee-hee! 🤗
Happy Mother’s Day Jenny! Great tutorial as always. Red, white and blue in my future.
This is going to be made for my 21 year old granddaughter. But I'm going to have to watch the tutorial x before I feel confident.
Love this patteren. 4 stars would be a cute baby blanket. I would proably order 2 of the same jelly roll to make sure.
Thanks for another great tutorial.
Happy Mothers day to all the moms at Missiouri Star.
I really like how you made the triangle peices to connect this block. Live it ! Beautiful.
I love this quilt. The black background makes it pop and look amazing
Thank you for your videos. It helps my sewing. I like the fact that you do not edit out any time you need to correct yourself. I make so many mistakes and need to redo and this give me the comfort in knowing I’m not alone. Mistakes are all part of life.
I love you Jenny! You are the best. Thanks a lot
These blocks would make amazing pillows!
I love this one!!!!! I can’t tell you how much you have inspired me along the way. I “found” you three years ago after having surgery in my toe which forced me to find something to keep me busy why recuperating. I had to stay off my foot for two months, then rehab so sewing was something that fit right in😊. (My mom taught me to sew when I was very young so it was second nature to me to begin with). I wanted to do something that was “new” but familiar (does that make sense?). I always made my clothes - never quilts. Fast forward three years - I can’t stop quilting! I sew every day, I bought a long arm machine and I use every scrap! After the quilt is done, I make a runner with the left over fabric. After the runner is done, I find something to do with “mount scrapmore”. Nothing goes to waste unless it is less than 1/2 inch piece. I am just finishing a spider web quilt using the small periwinkle template you sell. That used up a lot of smaller scraps. MANY thanks for your videos. Not only do my friends and family thank you (they get the quilts) but sewing brings back so many cherished memories of my mom. It’s one way of being close to her, at least in my heart. She lived to be 99 1/2 so there are many memories to conjure up as I sew.
What a journey into quilting, Hildi! Thank you for sharing and for being part of the Missouri Star family!
New but familiar makes perfect sense. That’s a keeper for sure.
And thanks for your sweet family stories
I certainly did enjoy this tutorial Jenny! It wont be much longer and I'll be able to sew . Had my surgery today and now at home recovering. I bought my self a new machine , a babylock Jazz ll.Been getting some material ready and I can barely wait !!!😊😊🤗
This is why I love Jenny! She is so relatable my brain and her brain think the same way! I love the way she is always excited and never appears to think she" knows it all" Thank you Jenny you are my fave!!!
Hello Jenny, I am a Totally New Beginner to Quilting 😋 & I am learning so much from you, thank you 😁 this quilt is Stunning with the Black has a contrast colour 😁 Erica x
Jenny You are the best! Your enthusiasm, even after all the years You have been making quilts, is something all Die hard quilt makers can totally relate to. I sure can. It made me smile to see that Your approach to making these stars was the same as mine too, which makes so much sense compared to many Lone star type patterns. You keep quilt making a fun adventure, which is how it is supposed to be. (I also wanted to hear more about the bunny that visited You :) ) Thanks for another wonderful tutorial.
Love the top view of what you're doing.
Si much easier to see exactly what you're doing.
I love this pattern. I already ordered all the fabric for it. I’ve never made a quilt with a black background. Plus I was surprised to see that you mixed the fabric type which is something else I never did. But I’m going to do it. Thank you Jenny for all of your beautiful patterns. 😊❤️
i love your enthusiasm and how much you genuinely love quilting
Love this quilt! Your tutorials are the best! I would love to see Jenny make a tutorial on the chandelier pattern. I think watching her put this pattern together would make more sense to my brain than just reading instructions. I’m a visual learner which is why I love her tutorials so much!
Wow, this is just stunning, can you imagine the color ways that would make it that way, looks easy enough I just cannot keep up with all of these patterns, they are all on my to do list...
I love this (and ALL of Jenny's tutorials). I think snowballing the corners of the four outside black squares before assembling would add a secondary block. It wouldn't distract from the large star block.
Agree
The first time this video came out, I don't remember it! Or I saw it and never considered it! Looking at it again NOW in 2022, and I have an new OMBRE metallic gold speckled jelly roll. I just think it is going to look fantastic. Jenny you have Such a simpler way to sew this together! I appreciate this tutorial so much! Thank you Jenny! I TOO am saying: I CAN'T BELIEVE I AM ABLE TO SEW THIS! WOW!
What great tips for sewing the diamonds. You always make things seem like it is not an issue to do!
Absolutely STUNNING!!!!
Also played around with this last night and did a trial with blocks of 3x3 fabrics instead of 2x2, and it worked great. Super technique! Thank you!
I wasn't with you a year ago, so I'm a little late here. 🙂 Thank you for this tutorial, which is simply wonderful, and thank you for keeping your videos up for us late-comers.
I love the jeweled colors on the black! Gorgeous!
I used only 6" squares cut on the diagonal for the background, and that made a very pretty 8-sided table topper. Love this pattern. Thanks, Jenny!
Your so brave! Great job little girl...
I feel I have connected with you and quilting on a deep level. 😂 I’m a SE Mo girl so there’s that and as soon as you said you were a leftie, I was even more invested lol! I have such a hard time watching people make projects and have to adjust with them being right handed. I’ve been watching several of your videos and I am loving your quilts! Almost finished with my first quilt now. 😊
Welcome to the Missouri Star family, Amber! We hope to see you here often and maybe see some of your creations!
Thanks Jenny! This is so much easier than dealing with those pesky Y seams!
You are the best teacher!! I love this block.
Great suggestion to sew from the center of the block in order to align points
Hi Jenny, how are you? I always your quilt patterns you. I am following I am from I am working Singapore but I am Sri Lankan. I am so happy and I'm really, really. I am happy about your quilt and I am coming from very poor family and I am following you very well. I learned something from you. Thank you so much and God bless you. Jenny, you're happy happy talk. I am very satisfied and begin me. Hope for me myself every time. Thank you love you so much too.
I love this quilt
Wow nice and beautiful flowers patchwork
Nice tutorial as always. Thank you Jenny.
Gorgeous quilt! The stars are a little scary to me, all that bias. But Jenny encourages us to try, so I believe I'll give it a go!
Sorry: what I meant to say you could make a parallel cut to your seam so you can practice again
What I should have said about keeping the threads out of the way is just lay them on the bed very gently so they don’t make a mess. After 3-4 stitches you can let go
I'm so excited Jenny, I stuck with it and I've got it. Thanks so much
LOVE The Jelly Roll For This Pattern..🌺 Great Tutorial Jenny... 🤗 🎉 p.s. Happy Moms Day To You an the Other Gals there Too... 😃🌷
And I love the wool mat and the iron!💖💖
I need Jenny Doan to sing the FULL song of "Some Enchanted Evening"!!!!
Love those old musicals and Jenny has a beautiful voice!
The first quilt I ever made was a lone star similar to this but with three-strip sets instead of two. With this strip piecing method, larger stars are not terrifying.
I LOVE this quilt! I have a fat quarter bundle that should work very nicely! I've made Lonestar quilts cutting each individual diamond! PHEW!!! This IS SOOO much easier. Ladies, do not be intimidated by this block; it looks complicated, but it is easy to put together. If you have never made a diamond star like this, practice on scrap fabric first. Most importantly, maintain accurate cutting & accurate 1/4" seam allowances (oh, and match your seams). You'll be surprised at the ease of making this block! Thanks Jenny & MSQC; you guys rock!❣
Thanks for the tips, Lindsay!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you Jenny. I had a ground hog in my garden yesterday. Spring in 🇨🇦
Great demo
In in Love with that Quilt
Excellent! Thanks. I'll give it a shot.
It’s beautiful! I have this pattern so it was already on my bucket list. Thanks!
Loved this quilt
love the way you sew, beautiful star quilt.
Oh Jenny!!! Thank you Again, for a Wonderful pattern!!!
Thanks Jenny, I am taking the leftover strips from my lone star to make one of these stars as a doll quilt to match.
Let’s just be honest, Jenny is adorable.
Too true! 😁
Fantastic! Love your tips for doing these stars. As usual your energy and enthusiasm is charming. Be safe, stay well.
This is brilliant!! Can’t wait to make it!
I completed my quilt. It was fun. I also used quilt as you go
Beautiful ☺ I make so many of these. Diamonds are my favorite to work with. I make lots of different diamond star quilts. So many options. And black background with batiks are always the best ☺ Thanks for the video MSQC ☺
Stunning - I love it! Thanks Jenny!
Bellísima la estrella . Felicitaciones.
I love this all over again!
Your rotary cutter matches your fabric! 😀
I’m sorry excited to try this one! Thank you 😊 Great job
Hi Jenny. I made this quilt. It was amazing 👩🏻🦳🇬🇧
Stunning.
Thank you very much! It was easier than it looked!
I can’t wait to do this one!💖💖
Thanks so much. I'm a beginner.
Thank you!!! I had some diamond left from a project and wish I would have seen this first! I did use two different diamonds.. and it looks great... !! Thank you much!
Love this pattern. I am older now and have a hard time handling the quilting of a large finished top. So I am hoping I can use it to quilt as I go. And then put the blocks together after they are quilted. 🙏
I can't wait to give this a try. It would look wonderful in prints as well!! I can see that on a bed! Thank you for being so encouraging and geniune! I love all of your tutorials. you make these projects seem approachable. Greetings from Canada!
Stunning!
I love this pattern! Jenny is amazing! Another one for my to do list! ❤️
