That's what music does. I'm a drummer since the 80s and it's the only thing that makes me feel young... and playing with my old firecracker's from the 70s and fireworks in general
Two weeks later "Riders On the Storm" hit the top 40. I was listening to Casey Kasem's countdown that day. Still my favorite Doors song 51 years later.
I like how they had pictures of the bearded Morrison and not the sex symbol photographs. The Bearded Morrison is the one he would want to be remembered as.

Yeah, i was surprised the mainstream media would have broadcast his passing. Hugely famous now but back then i wouldn't have thought these kind of news programs would have considered his death noteworthy. I mean Morrison was certainly famous in his own lifetime in the world of rock n roll, but these news programs were made by and watched by the establishment: older people who at best would have been only vaguely aware of The Doors.

Same with some of my friends. The networks (only 3 at the time) also announced the deaths of Hendrix & Janis, before Jim. He died in a foreign country where the United States has no right to order the body exhumed for autopsy, then he is rushed into a grave with no ceremony and no one actually sees the body to confirm in any way that it is him... Jim, wherever you are, splendid job... it worked.
