I Stumbled across your videos while doing research for a trip to Kiev in July. I saw some pictures on Instagram, so followed you there and then realised you did youtube videos as well. You've given me a lot of great ideas for my trip and got me quite excited to see the city and taste the lovely food. I binge watched a lot of your videos off the back of this . You've got a great presenting style . You even got me thinking about visiting Moldova. I can't wait to see your new travel videos this year. Keep up the good work, Alina.
Aw thank you so much! I’m so glad you are doing a trip and I hope you have an absolutely wonderful time. If you have time to spare I’d highly recommend Lviv or Odessa too. All the best to you!
Alina, gorgeous as always. Kiev is a beautiful city with rich history. Love the architectural structure, grand standing from top to bottom, marbles covering introduces a warm welcome, with stairways lead to a romantic event, at the Opera theater. You're a great guide. Previt to your family.
no Misha.. stay away from McDonald's. when you make it out to Los Angeles try In-N-Out instead. thanks for the vid Alina. you're going to turn Kiev into a 'hot spot'.
i agree Kiev is an amazing city.I travel many countries and i always wanted to leave fast and go back in my country...but in Kiev never.u should make and a film with pirogov.
I went to a concert at the opera house in July. It was hot as hell because there is no air conditioning in the hall, and although the talent was wonderful, I could hardly wait for the concert to end because I was pouring sweat, and I am not one who sweats. I ended up at the concert hall because the previous day I was looking for an internet cafe' and was asking younger people (because mostly they speak English) where I could access the internet, and these 3 young ladies asked me to hang out with them until their mother arrived, because she would know where the internet cafe' was and she spoke even better English. When I met the mother, she GAVE me a ticket to the concert hall for the next day. I offered to pay for it but she absolutely refused to take my money. God, I love Ukrainians. Always so friendly. By the way, the internet access was in the telephone company building. You had to pay for it, (very cheap) and it was on their desktop computers, there was no WiFi.
Ms Mcleod, In Hong Kong, the so-called "Russian soup" or the"red soup"is cooked with ketchup and is very very popular, but later I found that Russians actually cook borsch with red plant roots, and hence it is naturally red. But in this video your cousin said the borsch is green! Could you tell us what authentic borsch should look like? Again many thanks for your kind answer.
Hey there! Well there's actually two different kinds of borscht, both red and green. Red is eaten at all times of the year, but green mainly in the summer. It is absolutely not made with ketchup, but with beets that give it the red color. Hope that helped!
Hello Alina, I have a question because there are so many guys going to Ukraine & Russia for girlfriend/ wives. But i want to know how does the older generation like your grandparents view Western foreigners going over to "hopefully" meet a wife? I ask because I now have 2 friends who have married & have brought over their wives back to California. It is making me think, how Grandparents feel of this action or in general the Ukraine itself? Do they frown apon it, but know possibly that daughter of theirs will probably be able to send money home to help out? Greatly appreciate your time, your insight on views of what really goes on in your country. I wish everyone would be as thoughtful to family & others around as you have been taught to be. Your family has created a very loving heart in you. God bless us All.
Thank you. Well I can't speak for all, but in my personal situation once my grandmothers got to know my Dad they absolutely loved him and were very happy for my Mom. Though funny enough they gave him a lecture so to say about their expectations of how to treat her and I haha. Poking fun for sure, but very serious babushka threats! At the end of the day I think most parents just want the best for their kids and for them to be happy. If someone is getting married purely for money I think it's disheartening in one way or other for all involved, but sometimes desperate situations take whatever is available. A sad reality, but hopefully good can come out of it one way or another. Overall though I think most family members are very excited if someone finds someone they love and moving out of Ukraine to somewhere more prosperous is definitely a big dream for some. I hope that helps.
You are so cute, Olga, I liked this video very much, see how natural you speak to all of us it´s nice. I have just to subscribe to your channel because i am interested in knowing your country and specially your capital Kiev. Congratulations, you are a great ambassadress of your country.
Алина ! Отличный академический мягкий Английский !А вот Русский с приятным акцентом ,как у моей сестры живущей в Кливленде .Теплый привет тебе из нашего родного города !!!
How about that. I know Ocean Plaza. I purchased a golden stereo microphone and a printer there. I do miss UA. Went to Play in a different city. Witches and warlocks. Very enjoyable. When did you film this vid. Weather looks chilly.
The first time I came to Odessa, I had Time Slip feeling, say 100 years. 2nd time was Kiev, modernized Odessa with rich green. Ukrainian friend brought me to the best restaurant in Kiev and I have been looking for Ukraine origin Red Borsch over 40 years I asked her to take the Red Borsch to double confirm the taste, she said DA! I have a question to you, "Super & Super" and "Highly & Highly" which is better to you ? You always use Super Super Cool but you didn't use it for Kiev & Amsterdam.
Cool video, as far as your cousin, my advice about L.A, it sucks. L.A is just a city with a bunch of people who are not from there and chasing a dream. He will not meet many or zero born and raised locals. As far as " McDonalds ' in The U.S , he will get terrible and very rude service. Places to visit. 1. Houston, we have amazing soul food, crawfish, the best tacos in the world and " Whataburger " which blows every fast food burger away. It's made with " Texas pride " and real beef. He can catch a sporting event. We have all major sports. Baseball, Basketball, Football and soccer. 2. Philly, it is such a cool and historic city. 3. New Orleans, very cool, historic city too, with great food as well. 4. New York I suppose, but he better go loaded. These are the cities I would recommend.
Hi there, unfortunately I do not know anyone personally there that does tours, but most major forgeiner friendly hotels can easily arrange good English speaking guides. Hope you have a great trip!
As an older American man I'm sorry to say until recently what I've known of Ukraine has been from my High School history lessons (world war II) and now the more recent Russian incursions back into the Ukraine. From what I've seen off of the many UA-cam videos about the Ukraine it is an incredibly 'under-rated' and beautiful country with incredible people that I'd like to know on a more personal level...I'd love to visit sometime, and if at all possible spend some time there to really get to know the people and culture.... What I don't know (I'm not an experienced traveler) is how easy or difficult it would be to do that in respect to getting visas etc. Can you perhaps recommend an internet site that may have that info.?? Thank you in advance for any help!!.......
To be honest I don't know of any off hand, but I would check companies like Gadventures or Intrepid to see if they have any tours that go through Ukraine. I've traveled with both countries to more under developed nations and it was really fantastic because they give you as much of a local experience as possible. Hope it works out!
Do you have any videos regarding Chernobyl? I worry about radiation safety. Course I traveled to Hiroshima in college, so have faith. Hope this question is not rude. Thank you for sharing such a fascinating country.
At 3:10, that looks like the escalator for the subway stop Zalotu Varoti (not sure of the spelling). My sister has lived in Kiev for years, in Ossokorki.
You are so beautiful and I don't mean it in a fresh way. What kind of camera are you using? It's quite good and I would like to get something like that since I also do a lot of traveling. I have some projects for the poor in Asia and I would like to do some vlogging too. So what kind of camera are you using to video your self while you are walking. Vlogging is so new to me.
haha sorry but I haven't really done much partying in Ukraine. I would recommend clubs off of the main downtown drag of Kreeshtaeek. That's where it'll be more foreigner friendly. Unless you speak Ukrainian or Russian or going with a local, it might be hard in other bars. Good luck!
I'm not exactly sure. Gluten free designated dishes are a bit of rarity in Ukraine, but as basically I would say most of the things were unless there's some small amount in the sauces.
nice video, maybe I must put Ukraine/Kiev on my bucket-list. But do they speak there english or german ? Or are there local english speaking gides /travel agency's ? ofcause there are/were also dutch company's that travel to ukraine, but they are expensive.

Kin Lau the red soup is actually called Ukrainian borsch)
Kin Lau
green is cooked without tomatoes and red beets. has a narrow niche. then spring soup

As an American you don't need a visa.
Do your relatives also speak Ukrainian ?
Yes, the youngest speak it more because they learned it in school, but at home we all speak Russian since most lived in Russia or because of USSR.
10:28 Agree completely! :D
Your look alike with Olga Resnicova vloger also in Russia particular in Ukraine
