So glad you said global. I'm old enough to remember Apollo and I'm still as fascinated by the whole venture now, as I was back then....when I was just a little boy in the middle of England, filled with wonder and awe.

Whenever I have problems in life and feeling down, I hear him talking about Apollo 13. Then my life's problems look conquerable. If they could get the crew back alive from that kind of a situation, no problem is unsolvable.

When I visited Nasa in Houston about 2 years ago, it had me read materials and watch videos about the Apollo program. I have learned about Mr. Gene Kranz and I have gained a lot of respect for the man. Your ideals, mindset, and leadership will always be applicable to whatever situations we will be in. Thank you for what you have done and it is a priviledge for me to watch and read about you.

Wow! I am surprised that he is still around. This guy is a fixture, an icon of that great moment in history.
I still remember watching old NASA film and seeing the man in the crew cut and vest.

Teamwork: Respecting and utilizing the ability of others, realizing that we work towards a common goal, for success depends on the efforts of all.
These words from Gene are from his "Foundations of Mission Rules".
To me these are words to live by. I have so much respect for this man!

Amazing achievement by all Americans from the taxpayers, government officials, and the NASA team from the janitors, flight operators, and flight directors and other leaders. We do live in a great country with many opporunities to continually improve. Thank you Gene Kranz, you are a great man blessed by God with many talents.

"From the time of our birth we were meant for this time and place. Whatever happens here today, I will stand behind every decision you will make. We came into this room as a team, and we will leave as a team."
What an absolute true leader. Every man in front of his console would have followed him to hell and back. In fact, come Apollo 13 they pretty much did.
If we had real men with the integrity of Gene Kranz in more positions today, we'd have very few problems in the world indeed.

32:48 The problem was that the directional antenna was not pointing in the right direction (earth) because the LEM was rolling.

In those days they had thousends of switches, wires.. They knew whats going on and human and computer power went parallel.
What they gonna do in the future, when something is blowing up? Much to complicated programming.. Minutes to re-boot..
