I disagree, the build up is in the warm-ups, heats, potential false starts and introductions. You can look at it another way that you get pure suspense in the moment the gun goes off, in other sports there's millions of breaks and adds in between the actual time the sport is shown.

@@recoistsir7020because only 180 people broke sub 10 seconds in the 100m which means that it is very competitive and very hard to get to the top while the mile has 1800 people who broke sub 4 mins. This is because sprinting requires insane genetics and there’s no efficient ped to make you faster while distance runners has epo and certain steriods that give epo like effects. It’s like if a office has only 3 people in there they will pay more just to get more people in the office while if a office is almost maxed out they won’t offer as much pay since they don’t really need it. Plus sprinting events gets more views and money than long distance

The problem can also be the rankings. The 10th best NFL quarterback or 10th best NBA point guard will get a $10-$20 million dollar contract plus endorsements. The 10th fastest USA sprinter, distance runner, or jumper is working at Home Depot to make ends meets.

Interesting idea on the sprint leagues and the 100m 1v1, and its an extremely drastic change. It might go well for mainstream fans, but for normal track fans that would be radically different, and wondering how it could affect the athletes bodies. Track is a different sport. It is one of the most body straining sports, having two high speed races in a night may cause injuries.

    • @augustusfreeman4032

Exactly, a sprinter running 30+ high speed races before trial and a global championship isn't the equivalent to a footballer playing 30+ League matches. It would be like a footballer playing 80+ league matches before a international tournament.

Absolutely brilliant video. Thank you for making this. Great ideas and suggestions. The ideas of a street games for 100-200m are really cool. I think with tweaking, this format would work as individual competitions for 3k & 5k (time trial format) jumpers (high and long), throwers (javelin, shot and discus) and pole vaulters.
To make use of current athletics tracks they could do one lap and two races where the two competitors start at opposite ends of track with a 10-20m flying start instead.
    You’ve got me excited!!

The club concept is very potent allowing for a ton of athletes to compete at the highest level. It would be cool to see teams choosing one event each and then the day before there will be drawn from a Pool with all other events to select 4 more events and one relay. In total there will be 7 events held always including 1 relay, 1 jump event,1 hurdle event 1 distance event and 1 sprint event and 1 random event depending on what the teams close themselfs. Athletes can only compete twice during a match including the relay. In total there will be 28 spots (3athletesx6events+relay) to fill in and a team can only put in a maximum of 17 athletes so the have to close wisely who they choose. Furthermore teams can only have 22 athletes in their match selection. They do have more athletes in case of injury. Kind of like soccer where you have 11 players and 7 substitutes on the bench and a few more players which are part of the selection but you cant substitutie in you have 17 players 5 substitutes which agent selecte to compete and a few extra players in case someone drops from the roster cause of a injury. You will have 4v4 matchup in the distance and technical events where points will be counted for 1-5 place the team with the most points wins the event. In the sprints and the hurdles athletes will compete in a best of four 1v1 face offs the team winning the most face offs winst the event(total time is the tie breaker). The teams will be a mix of male and female players. The team who wins the most events will win the match. Imagine your favourite team sweeping a opposing team or clutching a comeback from 2 points behind winning the last 3 events. The battles in the last relay leg.
Competitiveness in more than one event makes an athlete really desirable cause you dont have the luxury to put all your athletes in the team. If you can only shotput youll rarely get selected cause you only have 6 athletes competing in one event and 11 in 2 events. A transfer of a sprinter who is a headface of a team will be a big deal. Imagine Puma Londen buying Christian Coleman from Nike Paris for their line-up for next year for 10milion dollars . Or promotion relagation system, where smaller teams sponsored by hoka or saucony or Smth can promote by winning the B-league and then facing of against the big teams from all over the world. The hype when big teams clash like Puma vs Adidas. 16 teams will compete in 30 matches home and away to qualify for the play-offs top 8 will enter a knock-out tournament for the championship win and the bottom 2 would relagate and make place for the top 2 from the B-league. Number 14 and 13 would clash against the number 3 and 4 from the B-league to stay on the highest level.

My suggestion was 14 races per athlete with an extra 1-2 races for semi final/finalists.
The idea for 14 races was for the purpose of rivalry so that athletes face each opponent twice but it could work fine with 7 league races then 1-2 more for semis/final.
I dont think 7-9 high level races before trials would be that detrimental to performance at trials
If an athlete runs 9 1v1 races, followed by 3 races at trials then 3 races at the championship, that's 15 total and it isn't much different from a normal season.
If an athlete plans to double 100 and 200 at the championships then it would be harder for them to run in the 1v1 league.
In Olympic years maybe the 1v1 league could run post Olympics but there is always the year with no championships to experiment since there's nothing to qualify for.
Last year Lyles for example ran 5 100m races and 3 200m races before he ran the 100 at trials.

    • @JimmyKim-fb1ji
      @JimmyKim-fb1ji 3 місяці тому

@@sprintspeedmedia there shouldn’t be 1v1 races because it would make sprinters run too much as sprinting uses up too much energy which is why sprinters always ease up in the quarter final because they don’t want to get injured. 1v1 would make it so they would have to all out every race since they don’t want to get elimated by the other person so they can’t ease up. Sprinting is not a endurance sport it’s a all out sport this would be a clear disadvantage to people go really fast in the first 60m and are slow at the 200m because this format clearly helps 200m runners like Noah lyles.

there's very little room for opinion when it comes to track, sure there's the occasional "oh what if coleman didn't stumble" or "what if bolt didn't false start" but usually the fastest person wins and its almost obvious who's the fastest by watching the rounds prior. in team sports you can speculate "i wonder how they'll gameplan for X Y and Z" or " i wonder how they'll do without their best receiver" or "my team would've won if it wasn't this that or the other" and thats a huge part of why team sports are interesting, vs the only real speculation there is in track is if someone will perform up to their best or not which is usually pretty obvious. also, rooting for a team is the other big driver for team sports, which is a lot simpler when there's more of a possibility that that team may win, compared to in track you may root for somebody competing for your country but when that person's seed time is 10.15 and there's multiple guys under 9.9 at a world championship event there's not much hope there lol

Whether for better or for worse the upcoming enhanced games will probably have a Huuuge impact on the popularity of the Sport, especially with incentives to push limits, everyone wants to know 'what is the fastest human-being ever capable of Running?' especially nowadays.. Also I think Bodybuilding is actually more similar to Sprinting than football for example, in Bodybuilding you have these dudes who are the Stars flexing on a stage for 10 minutes competing against each-other for a title, pushing the limits of what is 'big' or 'aesthetic' with their different poses and niches due to their body dimensions.. it's not a long burn like a football Season but a one-and-done, with a definitive champion.. Maybe with people talking about steroids so openly (probably for the worse) you'll see a generation of Sprinters who are shameless in this regard.. But also WADA does have some Arbitrary bans on certain things like peptides which could help with recovery from injury and longevity of an athlete that don't really make that much sense to ban.. I could totally see how in Sprinting, like Powerlifting you have a 'natural category' and an 'untested category'.. A natural champion (true champion) and the experiment champion Haha

I'd like to see them add a new distance to the Olympics, maybe 60m, 150m or 300m. And there's a lot of room for new relays. 4x200m or 100/200/300/400.

1v1 isn’t the answer the issue there isn’t club track events global if there are clubs or teams then there is something for the fans to get behind because it’s a brand the reason why there is a big void after Usain left is because track was attached to the name Usain not the club Racers that produced him Yohan Warren Weir among others had they done that then we’d be seeing club v club so Noah would be worth whatever but overall athletes would be in a bidding war where bigger clubs with better equipment bid for the athlete so he can run for them etc. leads to name branding etc. legacy so now they can talk about the era when this club dominated and had one of the fastest men of all time and thing like that also there are certain elements that are missing from track that other sports have which are rivalries trash talk in order to hype a clash and garner interest fans need to believe that you are aiming to win and you saying that and putting it out there says I’m confident in my ability and my training that I will demolish my opponents

No way this is feasible if these athletes are always aiming for the Olympics and World Champs. Nothing else really matters that much apart from tapering your training to peak at the next upcoming major. Only the journeymen sprinters just trying to make a living would be interested in a regular week to week competition. The key is making the major meets mini Olympic style comps with massive promotion set up at the right times so they fit in to the Athlete's preparations for the Olympics and World champs.
The idea of professional footballers being allowed to run at these events is comically stupid - their professional clubs pay them tens of millions of dollars/year to perform and won't even allow them to play International football games for their own countries let alone recreational sprint race for shits and giggles.
