That tip on how to avoid joint glue lines down the leg is brilliant! This makes me more willing to take on legs that need laminating multiple pieces to accomplish size where very thick timber is not available. Unbelievably smart tip...I never ever would have thought of that. A true craftsman you are. Thank you for going through the filming effort to put out these videos.
Great result getting the sponsorship and the commission to build that table. Its great to see the head scratching , figuring out and resulting solutions to the tricky joinery needed for complex projects like that . Looking forward to the rest of the build. Well done Joey hard work paying dividends 👍
Fantastic job Joey, I'm excited to see the series on this build. I've missed you, it's been a while since I've seen any videos from you. I'm so glad you're back. Much love to Kingpost Timber Works!
awesome to visualize your process..you are always stepping up your game and i greatly respect that. really love seeing your videos along side my daily shop adventures. i make a lot of kitchens, vanities, shelving and such, sometimes the opportunity for a nice piece of furniture, and sometimes(now) building guitars in my free time. this build seems like a mega challenge. it all starts with an ollie...cheers my friend.
Hi Joey, looks like a great commission and looking forward to seeing the whole thing come to life... you did the legs the RIGHT way for a custom piece of furniture!
Absolutely AWESOME ! It is going to be a monster of a table ! Great of BBS to help you out, actually just e-mailed them yesterday abome some timber. I wish I could pick up just the off cuts .... they even look big !
intense build, congrats on getting that bid! I sometimes wonder how much off camera "spacing off" you fall subject to when you are trying to hash out obstacles of design? Always a joy watching you create, looking forward to the next one.
Been following this on Instagram, looks even more impressive live, great to see how you can accomplish a project like this and how complicated it is great work mate 👍👍👍
Wow - fantastic work and great learning opportunity. Great video. Appreciate you carefully explaining your reasons/thinking. Is going to be an incredible table. Merry Christmas
I'm a hobbyist amateur from the USA. I love your videos. Not only are you building great stuff, but also keep it entertaining and interesting. I learn something new in every single video that I watch as well. Others channels may have more subs, but not many have as much knowledge, experience, and skill as you have.... and it shows. Great video. I learned a lot.
Well done Joey BBS Timbers are excited at working together to help educate your listeners into where they can source quaiity Timbers and plywoods from in New Zealand. Our website will have a whole new look in the coming months stay tune everyone. Exciting to see the progress on the Table Joey.
I'm REALLY looking forward to part 2! This video really makes me think of some of your points about design in the most recent Shopstool Podcast. If someone who wasn't a furniture make tried to design a sliding/extending dining table would they even have thought to include any sort of hardware or joinery?! Not just function of extension but subtler things like the straight grain glue ups for the leg blanks! What would the design of this piece have looked like in the hands of a non-maker? Strange to think about!
Hi Joey. Where did you buy that diablo sawblade for your kapex? I cant find one with the right arbor size. And also, I love your work. A true master of your craft!
The massive legs were amazing to start, so no need to resize and cut and slice and turn them into something ugly! :-(( It could have been... amazing. What a waste of good timber.
Classy for that ambassador to get a local craftsman to make his table.

Thanks !
Tip of the year on this video, showing how to avoid join lines on those legs. That has saved some pain on a future project.
Thank you!!
👍
This mahogany would cost you a little fortune in the US, what beautiful wood. LOve this project, thanks for sharing
Exactly what I was thinking, expensive
Yup expensive here too.
Not as expensive as you would think: here, in NY, I get 8/4 Sapele cheaper than 8/4 Walnut - $7.37bf vrs $9.10bf
@@PEZ4949 I'm in NC Mahogany is 10.95 bf Sapele is 6.95 bf for 8/4
I really enjoy your videos. You are a great teacher and I learn so much from the work you do. Thank you so much for sharing.

The leg glue up reminded me that your one of the best furniture makers on the internet. We can all be 'woodworkers' but fine furniture is a step up.
Thank you!
Cool design and build. Looking good
Tough build! Great job Joey.

Indeed! Cheers have a good holiday break (if you get one)
Impressive build. Love that Veritas jig.
Nice table. Sapele is one of my favorite woods, it just works so nicely and it smells great too.
Nice work Joey
Proper woodwork at its best
Chris

Great way to laminate those timbers for the legs. That’s good attention to detail!!
Absolutely AWESOME !

That's an expensive leg!! Haha thanks for sharing and explaining so much. That's a serious Pro tip you just shared. Thank you
👍
A monster of a table if those legs are anything to go by!
makes me really appreciate how much work goes into just the legs.
intense build, congrats on getting that bid! I sometimes wonder how much off camera "spacing off" you fall subject to when you are trying to hash out obstacles of design? Always a joy watching you create, looking forward to the next one.
Joey - looking forward to the next video - really enjoyed this one.
Amazing work dude, the table is going to be amazing 😊
Love that huge pressing machine! Also really liked those table legs.
That diagonal glue line is an incredible trick. I had this issue and couldn't find this solution.
Wow . . . you really like an adventure . . . like climbing a rock face with no climbing gear! Love the thought you put into those legs. Cheers!
Cheers, this ones a constant challenge. Lots of me standing around staring at the wall.
Awesome effort Joey, merry Xmas

Great video. I learned a lot.
Thanks a bunch !
That trick of taping the off cuts back to the leg then flipping it 90° blew my mind!! 🤯🤯🤯👌👌👌
Really impressive and creative, can't wait for the upcoming videos.
Cheers
Greetings from Nicaragua!
This is a awesome project a lot of thinking required for the odd shapes and also measure twice at least cut once
Your skills amaze me!
Cheers!
Really interesting build - those leg blanks must have been seriously heavy before taking the corners off at the bandsaw (even after tbh!)
Yup
Quality work. Can you show us the epoxy you use. I'm not aware of any like that here in the US.
Nice work on the legs, and getting those cross braces in!
Cheers Guy
Fantastic work as always! Someday, I want to grow up and be a woodworking Aussie skater punk, too.
He's a Kiwi...
That's kind of a mind bender, huh..

Yea interesting to think about this project in those terms ....
thank you
Wow. That glue-up, tho.
The epoxy must have quite a bit of open time.
"all right, that's it for this episode"... Nooooo, make it longer :)
Hi Joey. Where did you buy that diablo sawblade for your kapex? I cant find one with the right arbor size. And also, I love your work. A true master of your craft!
All those sapele off-cuts would make great guitar kerfing and end blocks! Ever made any guitars?
True! I have made 1 acoustic guitar in maple and rosewood. Was a good lesson! More of a wall hanger .
@@KingPostTimberWorks Nice! I really enjoy making them, if you want to make another I have a spare top or two lying around.
From the low height of the table top, I wager the Netherlands delegation did not order this... (maybe for one of their coffee tables!)
NOICE thats nice with an accent
mad skills
That table will hold a tonne of Ferrero Rocher ;)
Hi, what sort of glue is the black stuff for the mitres?
Its epoxy with a little black oxide added.
@@KingPostTimberWorks waiting for part 2. taking too long ;(
A really great table and a great job - but what a waste of this expensive tropical wood, especially with the table legs
My god Joey. Was anything on this build simple.
No so far 😅
New Apprentice?
So far just school holidays, but very promising.
that table is going to be Beautiful just the legs alone are SEXY... cheers Happy Holidays.
Beautiful design but a waste of woods. Very Nice table
Did you waste a lot of wood . :(
There is waste , from the leg blanks , though I will use all the triangle off cuts from the leg blanks.
Ловко. Цікава задумка, але на ножки забагато пішло у відходи. Не економно. Але, напевно, воно того варте. Чекаю на другу частину.
The massive legs were amazing to start, so no need to resize and cut and slice and turn them into something ugly! :-(( It could have been... amazing. What a waste of good timber.
So you think 4 x 200mm square posts would be suitable......no.
