I used to love this guys, I still think they're very good, but even if I always knew Obsidian was (and is) the soul of this band, now I realize that Thebon's voice was a great contribution to make them sound so good (in my opinion). Nice riffs and melodies, but I'm just not feeling it, specialy the clean vocals. Of course I wish the best for this band that released one of my favorite albums ever: ARMADA. PD: sorry for my grammar
It´s not easy, since the whole album is superb. but especially the song "The Spiritual Relief" is an absolutely masterpice. Also "Epistemology" with it`s fantastic instrumental part, this two songs are really outstanding. I really hope you get now the attention you deserve. You have well done your homework.
I have been more and more excited about this new album Epistemology. I have never listened to their older albums. Never listened to Armada that many people seem to talk about. I started with Kolossus and then Reptillian. I liked both albums and immediately placed Keep of Kalessin in my top list of heavy bands. But when I first heard this Introspection song I was blown away. Its a different sort of feeling than their old stuff. Philosophical lyrics instead or talking about Dragontowers. Dragontowers are cool don't get me wrong but so many bands have this fantasy based lyrics that its refreshing to hear something like Introspection. My first thoughts about it was wondering if the new album would have the same feel as Introspection. Now with the album name Epistemology and the the other song titles I am really interested in hearing this album. I am hoping its something different than the normal death metal, black metal or power metal stuff. I have high hopes for this album based on what I see so far. And as far as the vocals go I think if you read the lyrics to Introspection they are sung exactly the way they should be. I like the vocals. Can't wait to hear more from this coming album! I'm also glad they picked that album cover. It was my favorite of all the submissions. Many others were great looking but that one seemed to fit the feeling I got from Introspection. And the video to Introspection really gives me a good feeling. Very moving to me with the lighting and the shots of Obsidian walking around at daybreak or sundown whichever it was.
Armada has some pretty awesome songs. But I couldn't listen to it for long, because of shitty flat quality of the record (too much high frequency for my ears, almost no low and mid ones).

Why does this remind me of Absu so much? It doesn't even sound very much similar but I just keep getting Absu images in my head. However, it is very, very good. Glad I stumbled across this.

I liked Thebon as a vocalist but Obsidian pulls off the vocals so incredibly well, and while it is a different sound... it's still Keep. My favorite album of theirs.
Obsidian C. on vox?! How the hell is he going to sing and play those intricate parts he's known for at the same time? My respect level just went up two notches! i always enjoyed Thebon's vocals and hope he is ok.
I had never heard of them until they came to Portugal with Samael, a couple of years ago, and at the time when I checked some of their musics to see if it was worth it, I listened to some from Reptilian and it was more than enough to convince me. So it may not be their best but it sure is not crap.

go read theprp.com for the true story, the band contacted Thebon for a band meeting to decide his future in the band and Thebon said he didn't reply to them because he was busy with other projects, if you can't even communicate with fellow members you don't deserve to be in the band, personally I like this new direction a lot more and I love how the new vocals sound, brings an epic Dimmu Borgir type feel into the mix, can't wait to hear what the new album will sound like!
