Very nice vid, great instructions, and superb results given this is diy. Patience is the key here, go easy, use thin layers of paint, wait 30mins in between, don't stir up the paint once it sits on the respective surface. If it runs, sand it back down afterwards. wet sand for non-water based paint.
It all depends. We debated making the Putty included in some Kits but frankly, it's just not always necessary and would be wasteful to force a purchase of it. Our Putty is great for small cracks, chips, nicks, etc, but it does add some work and some sanding to make it nice and smooth. It really depends on the extent of the damage and desired repair.
@@TouchUpDirect I ordered one of your platinum kits but I was wondering if I could fill my paint chip with another primer for the meantime to avoid oxidation while waiting for my package to arrive.
@@TysonET You won't have any oxidation in the short amount of time until your Kit arrives. Keep in mind, cars are weather protected in a lot of ways now, including anti-corrison baths (like zinc) prior to any primer or paint is applied. It's why it's very rare to see rusty cars on the road anymore. And if you do see one, it's almost always due to a poor refinish job using substandard parts.
The Primer Pen is a limited use product. In many cases it's not required where a Pen is the best solution overall. The exceptions are deeper nicks or dings that are deep into the substrate yet very small. This type of damage is more uncommon so it makes the Pen Primer a less commonly used product.
We're working on developing a small container of putty, but we're not ready to launch it just yet. In the meantime you can just use any spot putty or 1k putty.

If the chip has been there for several years and it is rusty do you suggest sanding the rust off before putting the putty. 2015 white Tesla S
@@SamWhiteBoston Yes, if there is rust light sanding to remove it will be best.
what is the primer pen for? I don't see any footage of it being used in the video above.

Great info!
where do you get the putty?

So the very last step is Waxing, after the shown steps
That’s right, yes. Wait a couple days and then you can wax with whatever product you prefer.
