- WEEKLY LESSON VIDEOS + MORE AT: / jamierobinson 🎸
This video is NOT sponsored by Overloud. This is an update to my thoughts on their TH-U plug-in now that I figured out why I couldn't get the tone I was looking for from it before!
This is something that can be EASILY overlooked on all plug-ins and amp simulators. You can hear the dramatic difference in tone and sound once we make this small change!
I'm still unsure if this is standard in the TH-U or it's just a setting in mine. Have you used the TH-U plug-in? If so, let me know in the comments and if yours is set up the same!

I've actually never thought about this at all. I usually only use presets on amp sims, but after seeing this video I looked into it and it seems like this could be common. At least for the presets I checked, Amplitube 5 had two mics in the cab section, but only the dynamic one was turned on. And yes, both placement and mic type really does change the sound a lot. Well spotted!
Good to know it wasn’t just this software/situation! 👍😁
... I have played guitar for two decades without once thinking it might be beneficial to use TWO microphones at once.
Time to experiment!
The fact it resets and turns off the mic if you change the amp sounds like a bug to be honest. I doubt that is the intended behaviour.
It doesn't do that on saved presets. When you drag the amp over from the right side that's the blank slate to build a preset from. The stored presets are on the left side.
what if you mess up the original settings? maybe there's a way to save your tone changes once you setup them man.
This is why I love the NDSP stuff so much
You don't really need to tweak anything for a sick tone
Damn nice playing near the 10 min mark! Tasty playing to go with the tone!
Thanks! 🙏😁
I didn't realize the mics made that much difference. I'm going to have to play with them on my petrucci plugin.
Whatever it was, we still love you.
I wonder if there is an option to always enable that mic in the settings somewhere. If not, it would be a great suggestion for the developers to add it.
Love this video!! How would we do this with something like GarageBand where only one mic on the cab is allowed per track? I've always hated Garageband because it always sounds like the amp is underpowered and lacks thickness to the tone compared to real cabs.
Without the second mic it sounds like a cheap plugin. With the mic it sounds like a guitar. World of difference indeed.
There has GOT to be a default setting to have both mics on. That's just stupid otherwise.
What version of the software is this?
What distortion is this?
Overlooked video? have a comment for good health.
We can tell that tone at 3:31 is more to your liking because LOOK AT YOUR MOUTH AND JAW.
....and the neck. Not the guitar neck.
It's not dumb, it's just poor UI design at this point.
Yeah, I'm chalking this one up to the software. This is why user testing is so important.
And this is why I never even Try digital amps anymore. Defaults. Defaults. Defaults. I never have the control of what I WANT the defaults to be. I can never control is every input auto centered or panned. If I use a cabinet 'apply to all' doesn't exist.
You: It sounds ok
Me: it will be sounding like dogshit in the mix dude! Thats garbage!
tell me you only listen to country music without telling me you only listen to country music
I have no idea why I was unsubscribe from your channel….. what’s going on with UA-cam? I’m not liking this….
