- My way of commemorating the upcoming 80th Anniversary of Dec. 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor attack on the Battleship USS Arizona. Sadly, this Diorama is incomplete as it lacked one ship beside it.
This was also an opportunity build for me as i get to further practice on resin for sea and water dioramas. And boy i learned new things to. The What and What not to.
AK Interactive Diorama Accessories are superb but pricey.
I will still pursue to improve Ocean, Sea and Water Dioramas with 2 Part Epoxy Resins.

Well done, that looked pretty bloody complete to me, I have been watching a few videos not only on dioramas of the bombing of the Arazona but also documentaries & one thing that I didn't know before is that even though the Arazona could raise & lower it's main guns it could not do them individually like a lot of other ships could, a lot of movies & model makers get that wrong.

I like the diorama but the fore mast on top of the bridge is backwards and is suppose to be more forward

I don't get it. The Arizona was docked in Pearl Harbor when it was attacked and sunk. It is still there and is a memorial. Why would you ever do a diorama like this? Great technics by the way, I just wouldn't have used the Arizona t show them off.

@@gavingiles5079 Hi Gavin. It's all good. As I have said, this is incomplete because it should have the USS Vestal beside it to actually "commemorate" the sudden and deliberate attack of the IJN and Japan as a whole. The diorama was supposed to capture a "segment" of that historic fateful day "in Pearl Harbor" except the absence of the USS Vestal beside it (port side) and the Ford Island on the Starboard side. I couldn't afford the USS Vestal Model Kit, my bad really. Apologies.
Very nicely done. As far as the airplanes go, the only thing I could say is that planes low to the ocean (such as a torpedo bomber) can be masked with a water splash. Other planes higher up can be positioned with one wingtip close to a mast and hidden that way. However, there is no good way I know of to do a plane out in the middle of nowhere. You have the best idea with the clear sprue. Also, I concur wholeheartedly with making test panels. I keep sheet styrene around for just that purpose. Particularly if I am trying out a new product. I always enjoy your efforts.

Very nice, and above all impressive to see you paint such small things ! A quick question, by the way : the roofs of the gun turrets were painted red so that they could be seen more easily from the sky? ... 👻
Hi Ghost Sam. These were painted Red to represent Divisional Colors of the Battleship during that time. And yes, quite ironic, the IJN Planes used these as targets when they bombed the USS Arizona.

Hello Phuc. You mean base paint? or the base of the Diorama? I will try to answer both so as to help you with time.
1. Plane's base coat were a mix of IJN gray and khaki.
2. For the Diorama base - it is just a simple styrofoam white coated with wood or wall putty.

I'm actually doing something like this but I opted to use the forces valor 700 scale Arizona. Just saved a bit of time but I'm gonna have to add photo etch and find a 700 scale vestal.

It looks amazing! I am trying to paint this ship. What color exactly did u use for the hull bottom? Is there any vallejo shade you'd reccommend?
Hi Mike. For the hull i mixed Flat red 2 part with flat brown 1 part. But if you notice the shade of the hull in the arizona as a bit different. They are more on the brighter hue. @@IvanTheTerrible911 thanks. I don't like color mixing since it's hard for me to make the same shade twice. But i have some ideas how to make it look nice. And it's kinda symbolic since i am gonna make a diorama base for it.
