Performance is recorded by The Doors' road manager, Vince Treanor.
Although this performance is not one of the highlights of the 1970 tour, it is significantly better than the previous night's show.
The Doors get off to a good start with Roadhouse Blues and the whole show goes quiete well, sustained by the solid foundation provided by
Ray Manzarek. Unfortunately, his keyboard patch into the house PA is plagued with an intermittent connecting during When The Music's Over, but the situation is quickly remedied. Morrison's voice seems a little hoarse, which he astutely compensates for by sometimes dropping an octave or avoiding higher pitches.
During this tour, Albert King frequently appears as the opening act for the Doors. At this show he joins them on stage, along with his Gibson Flying V, "Lucy", for several songs.Albert King had been cutting his mean Mississippi Delta slide guitar for a long time before he came into prominence in the mid-1960's. By this time he was renowned for his formidable and fierce style of bottleneck guitar that seemed to explode with all the powerful emotion held within his massive six-foot-four frame.
"I believe that Albert King was the opening act and he was not received very well. So when The Doors came on, Jim Morrison was really quite upset about the whole thing. He got Albert King to come on stage and perform with the band on the fifth or sixth song. It wasn't a very good show. Jim Morrison had a full beard and was overweight. In between every song, the lights would go
out for 3 or 4 minutes before they would perform another song."
