listening to Doors live made me realize I'd see them over ANY other 60s band. Also makes you appreciate the whole band as a foursome a lot more because they're super locked in with each other.
I saw the Doors in NYC, Madison Square Garden in early 1969. I had just turned 18. Memorable show, but this recording sounds better than what I heard in that big arena,. Skip forward more than 40 years, to 2011, where I saw Ray and Robbie with a terrific guest singer play the music of the Doors.in a much smaller place called the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco. It really was the music of the Doors,. Ray and Robbie had gotten even better over the years. it was really trippy, and they rocked. Ray died less than two years after that, so it’s a special memory.
