Your daughter is such a cute teacher. She apparently is years older now. How time flies! Dad's who take their daughters out like this are the absolute best. Teaching their girls confidence and that will spill over into all areas of their lives. The most important thing!
thumbs up for giving your daughter a knife & explaining how to use it safely.. as she grows up she'll realise its just a tool, nothing more nothing less
888johnmac - I recently spoke to an 86 year old woman who talked warmly about what her father taught her. She learned to shoot a gun, hypnotize rabbits, identify which side of the tree moss grew on. She learned practical skills and humility, curiosity, attention to detail, and respect for others. As I listened to her, I thought that this is what a father should be like. Ronny just showed himself to be such a man.
888johnmac - Absolutely. Just from learning how to handle a knife, she learns safety, awareness, respect for others, respect for potentially dangerous tools. She's going to grow up the right way.
Tip on the shower/tap/water saving. Get 20mm copper screw on cap for tap fitting and drill ~2 holes for tap and ~3 holes for showerhead, 2mm in size and countersink the hole slightly to give it a spray pattern. You will notice your pump will not run at full pressure but still give you that required pressure for rinse. Experiment a little with different hole size and spacing for what you need. Happy showering!
Opinel No 8 ? An excellent knife.....good too see the family out. Taking my three girls camping on the Whipsaw trail this weekend here in BC. My two daughters are 4 and 7.....wish me luck !
Friends of ours introduced us to Jimmy's Thunderbox which folds up quite flat. One of the advantages of it is that if it is set up on sandy soil, we can put a board either side for it to sit on & not cave the sides of the hole in. In mixed company we erect a shower tent over it for privacy.
Hey Ronny, excellent episode , great tips , your so right about how the ground can hold the heat for days of a camp fire, I see the benefit of a portable fire pit.
those toilet seats are a godsend my wife and i have both had knee replacements squatting is out of the questioni carry 2 strips of plywood sit the feet on so they don't sink into the sand that can lead to a messy situation. great work thanks
Really good video. One thing I would add is when you are setting up for the first time with new gear , do it close to home where if there is a problem with the kit or it doesn’t work as you expected, then you are not in a critical situation. We have just got a new tent and some other new kit so we will have a couple of “shake down” weekends to get used to the kit and sort out any problems before our longer remote trip in a couple of months time.
Some smashing ideas and great to see you involving your daughter from a young age. Sometimes it's hard work but the rewards when they discover something new to them is utterly fantastic! 😊
thanks for sharing your camping tips, great to see you doing Daddy Daughter camping. My girls loved camping trips, mostly they were more organised than me LOL.
Great video, especially with your little daughter! A tip for dirty clothes - I can definitely recommend the Scrubba bag! Worked brilliantly on a 2wk 4000km swagging trip for 4 people!
The bridge called it wants its Trolls back. So let me rephrase it for the assholes in the overland community. Ronny, in an austere environment with limited resources (like water, hot water and cleaning supplies) what do you recommend for maintaining proper hygiene with regards to food prep and clean up.
There’s a few different ways, depending on how many people are in your group, if you’ve got more than 5 people with you then the 3 bowl method is quite Efficient, the first bowl is just clean non drinking water and is used to remove most of the food waste, the second bowl is water and washing up liquid or dilute non scented bleach, that’s used to disinfect the cookware, the third is clean water and that is used to rinse everything. If you’ve only got a small group then just washing everything in one bowl and rinse everything after.
Ronny you need to suss out jimmys thunder box for a toilet. Way better than that, its galvanised sheet with hinges and it folds flat with a wooden seat, comes in a hessian bag. unfolds square so lots of surface area for stability. Best thing I own for camping I reckon haha
Good one on getting your little one how to use a knife. I remember my grandad teaching me a giving me my 1st Opinel (the ones with high carbon blades that rust). "You always cut yourself badly with a blunt blade" and " sliding motion, don't push down, it a knife not an axe" 👍
What about a square of plywood with a drop hole for the waste and slight partial holes for the seat legs to fit into. Hope it helps for the soft sands. Cheers Chris from Australind.
Farq me, just checked out the prices of some of that gear. Costs more than the stuff I use every day at home, guess I'm either cheap, poor or both. OMG, I'm poor and didn't even realise it Still, as always, thanks for posting, enjoy your clips. All the best.
Beautiful to see you spending time with you daughter and teaching her. Good on you! Any possibility of doing a dedicated review on the ARB swag? Lots of people doing "reviews" out there, but lets be honest, most are no better than paid ads. People here trust your opinion (I sure do).
Hi Ronny, the wire mesh item that you used is a Braai Grid as we back in South Africa would call it or y=in your case a BBQ Grid. Great video, love the channel. Have you considered using the Kings Adventure Swag range as they have the vents at both the head & feet area's that is open with a canopy just for the rain?
Have you done a 4WD laundromat? Assuming you have water available, you put your dirty clothes into a big screw-top jug, or even into your orange dry bag, with water and washing soap, and stick it as far back on your rig as you can. The bouncing of the track agitates the laundry; the farther back, the more bouncing. At lunch drain it, put fresh rinse water in, and repeat the process. Hang the clothes when you get to camp to dry them. It definitely beats opening a ripe bag of unwashed, fermenting nasties after the trip.
Informative, even though a few years old. Hoever you failed to mention the bags hanging from the top, i am looking for something like that to put in my canopy, do you still have some info about those ?
So nice of you to do that for all of us fellow campers. just a quick one where can I get a canvas bag like the one you have? The Camp Power big bag. wish to use that on my open tray Ute.
Hi Ronny! An excellent camping set. As I remember correctly, at the beginning you had a more built-in car. Large aluminum construction at the back. Why did you give up on this? Weight?
That bag system looks like what me and my wife need. Are the clear topped bags and rigid ammo boxes you are using inside the Ammo box cover 3-up made by the same company?
Thanks again Ronny for great insight. A couple of questions... What brand are your tent pegs and where to buy them? Is your fire pit the medium or the large? Where do you buy the charcoal/heat beads from? Thanks in advance 👍🏼
ah, nice, an opinel. I'm totally in love with these knifes, esp. the carbon steel ones. a question: what's that ambient tune you used for the moon rise?
Hi Ronny, can u plz share the link of eBay where u bought the headlamps from plz , I just checked eBay after watching this episode , there a million different types of headlamps
We have a "3 times" rule. If i go camping 3 times in a row and don't use an item i remove it from my camping kit (within reason). Makes it easier to go camping when there's only 3 or 4 boxes to load and your off. You will be surprised by the amount of "essentials" you never use.
Loving the family vids Ronny. Takes the seriousness out of it so to speak and gives a laid back vibe. Id love to know more about the bags you use and where to source them. Ive currently got a wagon but looking at dual cab ute in the future.
6 amps per hour (fridge consumption) x 24hrs = 144 amps per day. 3 x 100ah AGM batteries will provide 150 amps of usable storage. 500 watts of solar might provide 30amps per hour depending on conditions x 8 hours = 240amps charging capacity. Always best to over quote than under
I then had my 160 watt solar panel out which recharged my battery in 6 hours. So 130Ah battery and at least 160 watt panel. 250 watt and 150Ah battery would be better
You can do laundry in that same dry bag you store your dirty clothes in. Just fill about 1/3 of the bag with clothes, add water and dot of soap. Catch some air in the bag, and then roll down a bit and clip closed. Shake it, roll it, beat it, massage it to agitate the clothes. Drain, rinse repeat until soap is gone. Hang clothes to dry. And Bob's your uncle!
I like the shower. I've got one of those spring loaded self standing ones, but I swear it is always a PITA to get them to coil back up. Anybody have a link or a name of who makes that?
Hi Ronny, what is the name of the mat you are using in this video? I’m currently using a mat that came with my Jet Tent. I’ve heard you call the, a helicopter mat.
Hey Ronnie love your videos. If you’re talking about replacing your batteries I can highlyRecommend lead crystal technology. They are half the price of lithium and a couple hundred dollars more then AGM. I’ve been running lead crystal for over a year now and it’s awesome you can use around 100% of the battery power and it will recover from Dead flat over and over again without damage and has a very quick recharge time. I think lead Crystal batteries have a three warranty and a life expectancy of up to 12 years
Josh Jones If you are running under 110 amp our you can use BCDC 1225D. If you run over that you have to use BCDC1240d. The lead crystal batteries likes a higher charge rate. I use the EVFJ 70 lead crystal batteries which is 86 amp hour with the BCDC 1225D And it has a very fast charge and it’s equivalent to running a150 amp hour AGM because I can use 100% of the power right down until it’s flat and then it charges up in no time at all with zero Sulphation and and zero damage to the battery and I can do that over and over again. I personally believe in running good stuff and not cutting costs. At the end of the day it has a life expectancy of 12 years and over, so how many 150 amp hour Lead acid or AGM batteries would you go through 12 years
ehat size camp oven do you use? also for your gas stove i think you hsve a butane style (long cartridges) how well does that work? i had a cheapie once and in windy conditions couldn't get the power to boil water so went to lpg, but if i can get swau eithout thr bulk of a gas bottle then good, ecpevially for remote travel whete i need to carry othrr stuff.

yeah, teach a kid bushcraft & they absorb soo many more life skills
888johnmac - Absolutely. Just from learning how to handle a knife, she learns safety, awareness, respect for others, respect for potentially dangerous tools. She's going to grow up the right way.
took the words right out of my mouth!
Brilliant teaching kids these skills.. giving them a gaming console is more dangerous to their health than this sort of stuff
Love the dad-daughter rapport. She is lucky to have a great dad.
These are the times that are cherished, dad spending quality time with his daughter in such awesome places and learning new skills.
The best gift you can ever leave your children, is memories. Memories stay forever.
Tip on the shower/tap/water saving. Get 20mm copper screw on cap for tap fitting and drill ~2 holes for tap and ~3 holes for showerhead, 2mm in size and countersink the hole slightly to give it a spray pattern.

Your daughter has been the star of this video, really enjoyed, thanks.God Bless.
How do you learn woodcarving?
Whittle by whittle 😊
Thanks for an entertaining and very informative video. Sienna is a lucky young lady to get all these experiences so young. 👍

Great vid. Cool organization. I am astounded by the amount of weight you carry. My tires would pop!
those toilet seats are a godsend my wife and i have both had knee replacements squatting is out of the questioni carry 2 strips of plywood sit the feet on so they don't sink into the sand that can lead to a messy situation. great work thanks
Brilliant! I absolutely love you have your family in the videos. Family adventure equals great memories.

Very useful and nice setup. You give me inspiration. One thing i might is to always carry a fire extinguisher. Better to have it and not need it.
I wanted to turn off, but I couldn't stop watching. Great vid.
I love those mesh grills, used one for well over a year cooking all sorts on when I was overlanding in Southern Africa
Perfect video again Ronny, really interesting information, could you add a few links/ names in the description for the different products
thanks for sharing your camping tips, great to see you doing Daddy Daughter camping. My girls loved camping trips, mostly they were more organised than me LOL.
Great video, especially with your little daughter! A tip for dirty clothes - I can definitely recommend the Scrubba bag! Worked brilliantly on a 2wk 4000km swagging trip for 4 people!
Can definitely recommend the Scrubba bag, even just for socks and jocks.
Greetings from Slovenia 🇸🇮
Loving the videos Ronnie. We had an epic camp trip here in Ireland last week. Will be uploading a video of it in the next week. Have a peek!
Ronny, how do you wash your dishes? How about a video about that.
Really? Ask your mum!
It's actually a good question. You can easily waste a lot of water.
The bridge called it wants its Trolls back. So let me rephrase it for the assholes in the overland community.
Ronny, in an austere environment with limited resources (like water, hot water and cleaning supplies) what do you recommend for maintaining proper hygiene with regards to food prep and clean up.
Trolls, lol, ask a stupid question..... Can't believe people can't think for themselves & have to know how to poop/wash etc, stay home!!!

Good Job, Glad to see you finally got the Quick en Suite. Best privacy tent solution there is.
Back to basics camping Love it Ronny
Recon you could do a run through the complete set up of the tray again, looks like it’s been changing a lot
That's one of my favourite pass times... Turning a bigger piece of wood into lots of smaller pieces of wood. Therapeutic 😊
Great video ronny, your daughters accent is amazing
I use that very toilet seat. It works very well as I am 60 y.o. and it is hard to squat now. Compact and simple.
Good one on getting your little one how to use a knife. I remember my grandad teaching me a giving me my 1st Opinel (the ones with high carbon blades that rust). "You always cut yourself badly with a blunt blade" and " sliding motion, don't push down, it a knife not an axe" 👍

I miss Ronny's old set up. I know it was heavier but it was so cool
Good to see ya take the kids out lessons learnt for life.
You didn't cover the stuffed animal. Is that yours or Sienna's? :)
I love the mounted shower tent, I wish we in the USA get it one day.
Another excellent video. The Drifta Gear is awesome.
Some good ideas as I’m setting up my escape vehicle... imported from Aussie to NZ
Ronny - I would like to see more 4WD videos which you have got your your family in it. Awesome 😊

That’s something I’m working on now give the length of our travels is increasing
Gotta love all the Drifta Gear.....Good video mate
Sorry mate, just read info sheet, got the the answer to my pegs question, cheers, appreciate the other answers when you get the chance, thanks!
I was No shit thinking about your camp setup the other day and what it would consist of. Well thkz again for another great vid of tips and tricks.
Teaching your daughter right! That's an Opinel knife unless my eyes deceive me. Used one for many years, good steel!
Got excited and paused the video at 2:34 to make that comment... then you explained it. I'll show myself out.
Just got back from my own camping trip....can‘t wait for your tips here. Love your work, keep it up. Cheers from Bavaria! :-D
Great vid Ronny, why burn the paper after no. 2’s? What would you do if camping in bush fire season? Thanks
great all round coverage Ronny
Hi Ronny! An excellent camping set. As I remember correctly, at the beginning you had a more built-in car. Large aluminum construction at the back. Why did you give up on this? Weight?
Your daughter is going to be a cool kid! Loved the video, new sub here
That bag system looks like what me and my wife need. Are the clear topped bags and rigid ammo boxes you are using inside the Ammo box cover 3-up made by the same company?
I enjoyed that mate. Nice setup and good to see the wee one out with you. Cheers Moose.
Very cool man. Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming.
Great video ronni love the shower also seen it on another video
Man you rig is beautiful nice setup congratulations
Those flies!
Thanks for the videos Mr Ronny !! Love your channel !
A Common reason for the oil sprayers breaking is olive oil(too thick), I've had mine for 5 years now, only bran oil goes in it.
i like the idea of having cheap radios for the kids. ill definitly do that
Hi Ronny, what's your thoughts on the hard body roof top tents vs swag? Set up time, leaving bedding set up etc. Is Wayne happy with his?
Any experience with engine heat exchanger showers? Like Glind. They seem like a good solution to me but does it add reliability risk?
Got to love the outdoor shower!
Hi Ronny, what is the size of your Cgear multimat? And how do you secure your canvas ammo bag to your truck? Another great vid. Thanks.
Hi Ronny. Love your vids as always. Whats the reason your longer going to have any drawers in the tray setup?
Thanks again Ronny for great insight. A couple of questions...
What brand are your tent pegs and where to buy them?
Is your fire pit the medium or the large?
Where do you buy the charcoal/heat beads from?
Thanks in advance 👍🏼
ah, nice, an opinel. I'm totally in love with these knifes, esp. the carbon steel ones. a question: what's that ambient tune you used for the moon rise?
Ronny, have you got a video where you discuss the reasoning behind your move away from the full canopy to the open tray and boxes?
Not yet there will be once I’ve finally got something done about it
Hi Ronny, can u plz share the link of eBay where u bought the headlamps from plz , I just checked eBay after watching this episode , there a million different types of headlamps
Ronny which salt lake did you stay at in the goldfields was it lake lefroy near kambalda or the one near norseman
Ronny is there any chance of doing a video of a tag-along-tour ? , do older 4x4's go on those trips too ?......what's the limit ?
Possibly next year if I’m in the middle of the convoy rather than leading as it’s pretty hectic if filming the same time
Another great video Ronny!!!
Hey mate what is the brand of that bag you use for dirty clothes?
We have a "3 times" rule.
If i go camping 3 times in a row and don't use an item i remove it from my camping kit (within reason).
Makes it easier to go camping when there's only 3 or 4 boxes to load and your off.

Good job dad. You are raising an epic woman.
Great and informative vid. Thanks for sharing. Steve
nice video how are the new maxxis going so far? looking at new tyres soon wouldnt mind trying something new
Great video where did you get that extendable mesh holder
Loving the family vids Ronny. Takes the seriousness out of it so to speak and gives a laid back vibe.
Id love to know more about the bags you use and where to source them. Ive currently got a wagon but looking at dual cab ute in the future.
Tim Winslade - Camp Cover and Drifta for the bags. Google search brings up both.
If an adult breaks their leg suck it up and drive out of here hahahahah
The best thing I heard
Very interesting video thanks
Hows Brian's jeep going? Ready to start going on trips again? Keep the videos coming there great :)
Are those boxes the Wolf packs from Front runner in the Ammo Box Cover mate?
Any recommendations for a good reliable vehicle for camping regularly ?
Ronny i wann run my weco 50l not stop for 48hr on max power - 18 , what do i need , love your videos and thank you for your time upfront.
a lot of sun
Dubious what i meant is size of the battery, i am new to this
6 amps per hour (fridge consumption) x 24hrs = 144 amps per day. 3 x 100ah AGM batteries will provide 150 amps of usable storage. 500 watts of solar might provide 30amps per hour depending on conditions x 8 hours = 240amps charging capacity. Always best to over quote than under
No way 6 amp hours per hour. I tested my Evakool Travelmate and had it set to -18. It used a bit over 2.5 amp hours per hour over 24 hours.
I then had my 160 watt solar panel out which recharged my battery in 6 hours. So 130Ah battery and at least 160 watt panel. 250 watt and 150Ah battery would be better
Some interesting ideas. What do you cook with when there is a burn ban?
Gas stove
You can do laundry in that same dry bag you store your dirty clothes in. Just fill about 1/3 of the bag with clothes, add water and dot of soap. Catch some air in the bag, and then roll down a bit and clip closed. Shake it, roll it, beat it, massage it to agitate the clothes. Drain, rinse repeat until soap is gone. Hang clothes to dry. And Bob's your uncle!
I like the shower. I've got one of those spring loaded self standing ones, but I swear it is always a PITA to get them to coil back up. Anybody have a link or a name of who makes that?
Alucab is the brand, buy them from Quick Pitch in Wangara Perth WA👍🏼
awesome vid Ronny keep it up
Hi Ronny, what is the name of the mat you are using in this video? I’m currently using a mat that came with my Jet Tent. I’ve heard you call the, a helicopter mat.

Jason Glare cheers mate. Good to hear I will only need the 1225D!
Hi Ronny, Can you please put up the link to your head torches.
ehat size camp oven do you use? also for your gas stove i think you hsve a butane style (long cartridges) how well does that work? i had a cheapie once and in windy conditions couldn't get the power to boil water so went to lpg, but if i can get swau eithout thr bulk of a gas bottle then good, ecpevially for remote travel whete i need to carry othrr stuff.
Daughter explains the stuff right like her dad. :)
