We were playing live in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, during our tour there in january 2017.

Indeed yes!! I am a total Rafi Saab fan too, love this interpretation, as well as the Heineken one, as well as the opening music in Ghost World. But the Best is of course the original in Rafi Saab's voice - the voice that even the gods could not bear to send away to earth for too long!!!

@@NightRider0101 It was sad for me to learn today that Laxmi Chayaa died of cancer at 56 years old in 2004. She was the lead dancer in Gumnaam when the song was first showcased.
The Composer Shankar-Jaikishan ji and the Singer Mohammad Rafi sahab together were such a formidable combination ! They made so many super-hit songs. The present rendition and the band/orchestra have so beautifully re-produced a version of their own which is of course very much like the super hit song made by the maestros .

Loved to listen to this amazing band....music composer of the original song was Shankar Jaikishan and it was sung by legendary Bollywood singer Mohammed Rafi and written by great Shailendra. The choreography of this beautiful dance number was done by Harman Benjamin and dancing girl is Laxmi Chhaya. The song is from Bollywood movie "Gumnam" which was released in 1965 and well we are still shaking on this number in 2017!!!🇨🇦🇮🇳

Best composition of Shankar jaikisan
Excellent!! I'm studying early 20th century Latin American music from both Brazil and Argentina. With all due respect to the music directors, Shankar Jaikishen in this case, and all the other gems of Bollywood music, Anil Biswas, Naushad, Ghulam Mohammed, Madan Mohan et al, to name a few; there was behind each of these a galaxy of stars usually from Goa with shining presences like Anthony Gonsalves who were the true masters of these musical delights. They were referred to as mere arrangers. They were amongst the only Indians that could read the Western music manuscripts and had impeccable knowledge of Music theory that allowed all these catchy raaga based melodies to be adorned with harmony. The similarity of Chiquinha Gonzaga's Gaucho to a lot of Bollywood pieces from the late 40s onward is obvious as are various Ernesto Nazareth, Zequinha D'Abreu pieces and too the tangos from across the border in Argentina of Eduardo Arolas, Jose Martinez et al. If you understand or have access to a Hindi interpreter, there is a Rajyasabha TV documentary in two parts called Gumnaam Hai Koi on UA-cam. This was published about four years ago and also features snippets of an interview with the music composer Vanraj Bhatia, with whom I've had the pleasure of meeting. That's a 1965 Hindi movie song, movie Gumnaam (meaning in English - Unnamed). And the singer is someone who sang for every genre of music imaginable on this planet. Remember his name, Mohammed Rafi, because we will be listening to him for another 100 years atleast, doesn't matter really that he left this world 40 years ago.
