  • Installing the corner trim on the truck camper is the finale step before taking it out for our first trip. The trick to installing the trim is to take it slow. It is aluminum and will bend easily.

    Add my thanks to the list. Just finished putting on an entire new roof on a cab-over Class C and didn't know how I was going to deal with the corners. Thanks again. Subscribed too.

    Outstanding! Exactly what I was hoping for! I'm retired and living in a travel trailer -- I think of myself as a kid living in a tree house with wheels. To maintain an RV, you really need to have a good-old-boy DIYer attitude and figure things out. This is especially true since the lightening and cheapening manufacturers adopted in 2012, then furthered during the pandemic have made older trailers worth maintaining and upgrading. Thanks!

    thanks for the vid, I have to do this same project. I finally realized that all the sealants in the world are not going to do shit when applied without removing the molding first, and that butyl tape, not sealant, is the most appropriate material to use for this type of application. For the life of me I cant figure out why the rv manufacturers designed my rv using a corner molding that doesnt even have the channels to hold the stripping to cover the screws. And yes, that caused water leakage problems for me.

      Hi, I agree with you, the poor factory design welcomes water in. It's only a matter of time. I triple sealed my seams. They always consider cost, but it didn't cost me much to build it so much better. Good luck with yours. Thanks for watching and the comment.

    Use a 50 gallon barrel to create your own 'tube bender'

    I have read that with plain aluminum (unfinished) the trim piece would be annealed at the bend sites, and pressed around the bend and screwed in place.

      I considered using some type of bender but this worked pretty well. Thanks for watching and the comment.

    Thanks for this excellent video! It really is the only one I could find using this trim, and you explained it perfectly. I had two questions for you: What specific brand of trim did you buy? And, what brand of tape did you get to tape/seal the edges prior to installing the trim? Thanks in advance!

    Thank you for the video, gives me more confidence of attempting the job myself. Do you have to get special trim for your camper or would anything do? You were very clear and nice snd close up.

      You're welcome! Glad the video helps. Corner trim comes in different sizes and widths. I used the same size that was on the camper. The information of what I used is in the video description. Good luck!

    wouldnt it have been easier if you heated it up?

    • @timsonthemove
      @timsonthemove  Рік тому +1

      Hi Ritmo, I thought about heating it up. If I had the proper heat source that wouldn't hurt the paint or the aluminum I would've used it. Thanks for watching and the comment.

      Hi R. If you're referring to the aluminum corner molding, it was about $17 for a 92". But the shipping was $45. Ebay link
