Not many people go from a major studio like Fox and go to short form media like you have with Buzzfeed and the Try Guys. But with short form media, you have more control as compared to a major tv or movie studio.
As someone who also comes from a family of doctors, I can tell you most doctors don't actually want to be doctors, that why your parents were so understanding. LOL
@@YBChangOfficial I have the word doctor in my chinese name and I stopped after Msc since it was just way too much work to spend an additional 5 years in school
Being asian (Cambodian) it makes me so happy to see an amazing successful asian woman 😭💕 I feel you on not wanting to be a doctor lol but I am choosing to become an engineer 😭
Ah this was so encouraging. I'm getting an internship this summer I'm worried about it because I STILL have a whole year left of college. I do hope they offer me a job eventually but I feel like its a weird time to take an internship, but you said it wasn't and you're right, it's not like people can do it over winter break, summer break is the time to do it, because the next summer break you'll be graduated. I hope small decisions in my life like this can lead to a great future like yours YB!
When I started watching this video you talked about your childhood and high school and I was thinking "oh, I'll skip this part and go straight to when you worked full time in film" but it turned out to be super engaging, both your experiences and the way you put the story together, and I actually watched and enjoyed the whole video! Hey YB your story is crazily similar to mine, with your entire childhood with creative writing and the transition into video editing as well as also being Asian struggling between perusing her passion and going through the path I was expected to (I actually took law for 6 months last year bc I felt pressured to but I later dropped out and went to study film and media production and i've never been happier, my parents were super supportive too and i'm so thankful for that) You are 100% someone I look up to, I've been watching you even since buzzfeed and I truly did see myself in you. @@gracetan4434 Asian parents mean well, but always try and steer their children to a safe, prosperous path that they understand. But at the end of the day you have to be happy with your life - that life of quiet despair that reasonably well off people have is not for me. There is a middle path - make a living while searching for what you love. Then find a way to make a living from it. i'm at a point where i'm considering taking a break from college now more than ever. despite already being two years into a degree, i can't wrap my head around the fact that this is supposed to be the rest of my life. i don't see a future, and i don't know what to do. hearing your story and seeing how passionate you were and are inspires me to pursue what i really want to do. what that is, i'm not sure just yet, but i do know i can't get there by staying here
Honestly, I love your story and your life! I love the fact that everything sprouted because you persevered and worked your ass off!!! You’re such an inspiration YB!!!💓💓 always be looking forward for future videos 🤩
I have the same Favourite genre as you horror and comedy... I also like editing but I don't have a specific aim for my future job. Thanks for your life story because I feel it is very relatable.
i’ve wanted to work for the try guys for years! congratulations!!!! i don’t know if they’re looking at all i wouldnt even know where to start applying haha. maybe in a few years !
I feel kinda lost because I was on the med school path (because of parents pressure lol) then switched my major last minute. Now I’m in grad school studying what I like. Do you have any tips for landing internships or jobs this late in the game?
This video shouldv'e been out years years before because it so beautiful and also inspires me. Im struggling on my college life for almost 4 years for choosing the path I thought I liked and would stabilized me, I should graduated by now but its not really my passion, my passion is same as yours. If I've seen this and this is out few years ago I would have pursue my arts passion too
I'm lowkey jealous but very happy for you :( I'm almost finished with my economics bachelor and I only chose this way because of the stability and that it's almost guaranteed to get a decent paying job. I always wanted to do something with film making but as I got older (17/18) my focuse was shifted towards the stability. Now 3 years later I regret my decisions.
You’re so fortunate your parents realized and supported you as a creative early on in life. As a Filipino-American, I always loved writing and even went to an Arts Middle and High school where I majored in writing with 1.5hr classes a day and even published a novel as my senior thesis. But my parents always encouraged me to go into business. Fast forward to me at 28 right now and I’m in the middle of career change from a CPA to Data Analytics and I’m still unsure. If I could go back in time, I wish I had pursued my passion for writing (particularly TV scriptwriting) but growing up in South Carolina was a world away from LA/SoCal. Anyway, I ramble only to say, that I’m incredibly happy for you YB. You deserve all the success for following your passion.
Wow I didn't know you lived in PV! I'm right down the hill, lol. Thanks for sharing your career journey and congrats on finding something you really love doing! :)

Omg you edited the acupuncture video!! That was my favourite!!! The editinng was so freaking hilariouss!!
i'm at a point where i'm considering taking a break from college now more than ever. despite already being two years into a degree, i can't wrap my head around the fact that this is supposed to be the rest of my life. i don't see a future, and i don't know what to do. hearing your story and seeing how passionate you were and are inspires me to pursue what i really want to do. what that is, i'm not sure just yet, but i do know i can't get there by staying here
you know what you need the most! it's always good to take a step back and recharge. :)

I feel kinda lost because I was on the med school path (because of parents pressure lol) then switched my major last minute. Now I’m in grad school studying what I like. Do you have any tips for landing internships or jobs this late in the game?
I love how supportive your parents are 💕
Thank you for sharing your story!
It's really cool to hear about your story YB!
Now 3 years later I regret my decisions.
it's ok!! You can always do it as a hobby :)
u have the best edits! try guys are lucky to have u

This was such an awesome video!! Thank you for sharing your story! :D
Very aspiring Thank you for sharing!!✌🏾
Continue writing, make videos/documentaries heck publish another book! Live life with no regrets! You can do it!
ajcab819 ^ yes!! If not a career it can always be a hobby, don’t give up your passion :)
