Eminem was my favourite childhood rapper, but I just view him as a master wordsmith and technician now. Hits like "When I'm Gone," "Sing For the Moment," and "Stan" have engaging lyrics, but his catalogue includes too many immature songs for me.
It's a fun album. It's summer time. If I want "substance" I go to an artist with that. However, this album does have substance, lots of tongue-n-cheek dark humor about social and life topics littered throughput the album. One example is his verse about Obesity and the glorification of being sensitive to it 😂.
At this point into his legacy, I expected something different. At times it felt like I was listening to encore. Brand new dance was a strange choice for me. I loved the slim shady feature on guilty conscience, even though the last verses sounded like em now using some voice altering device. What would’ve been dope was if he tried bringing slim shady from 99 back for a couple songs. I wish someone could make him listen to just don’t give a fuck from the sslp and try to bring that style back just for nostalgia. Only because I think that’s what most fans were expecting
Common and Pete Rock album shines over that Eminem album I’m sorry in my opinion just heard the whole album by common and it was no skips zone n it’s lovely Chicago is back 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 no offense to Eminem fans but come on 🤦🏾♂️ that over common album? Nah sorry

Dr. Dre produced or co produced two songs on this album. The most production we got from Dr Dre on an Eminem album was the one before this. Other than that you had one or two songs on Recovery and nothing on the other albums in between from Dr. Dre. 50 Cent is no longer signed to Eminem but also 50 Cent is more involved in movies and tv so he is not really focused on music like he use to be although I thought we might get one song from him on this album but we didn’t. Lil Wayne only did three songs with Eminem and I think Eminem mostly worked with Wayne because Relapse didn’t do what it was suppose to do and Lil Wayne was the biggest artist at the time and Em and his team knew it was a way to reinvent his career and open him up to the younger audience.

My thing I’ve always wondered with Eminem and I’ve never seen anybody. Discuss it on UA-cam. Really anywhere is how is Eminem‘s record contract set up. You would think by now he wouldn’t be signed to Dr. Dre’s aftermath label or at least just be directly signed to Interscope. he’s been signed to the same label since 1998 that’s 26 years he’s been signed to them. It would think financially it’s not the best for Eminem being that he has to pay out two labels especially at this point of his career being a household name. To me the only benefit of Eminem still being signed to Dr. Dre I see is their names together are like a brand even if they are not a couple they are synonymous of each other and one sells the other. From a hip hop perspective being attached to Dr. Dre and because he seen as a legend in hip hop and hailed a great producer and has a Great ear for music it has always given credibility and approval to Eminem and for Dr. Dre Eminem really been his bread winner artist. Sure he had success with 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar but with them he also had to pay out Eminem or Top Dog. I would also say they have good music chemistry. Even with that though if you look at who produced the song sent recovery, Dr. Dre really hasn’t produced the whole lot of records for Eminem in 13 years minus MTBMB. To me they’re just a dynamic duo and always been Cell that way as a brand which is why I feel Eminem has stayed signed to Dre. no maybe there’s things in the contract. We don’t know about to me. This would make the most sense and I think it will be interesting for someone to do a video I’m going into detail about it
I love this album.. No other rapper have the guts to say all that he said. It’s not really about the beats it’s about what he says. Someone needed to speak for all of us. The way he expresses his frustrations in this sensitive era, he actually spoke for everyone. Everyone has their own opinions on this album. To me he will always be the goat and no one can ever do it better than him.

The best part about this new album is that he uses old studio recordings from 20 yrs ago with his original flow. Em used to flow so effortlessly on tracks. Now he constantly uses this choppy flow which doesn't always make for the best music.

One of his fans said that he tells a story from beginning to end then also backwards from end to beginning. He tried to copy Kendrick but failed, lol. Kendrick did this with one of his prior albums and the person that interviewed him asked him, if the story starts at the end of the album or the beginning. Kendrick wouldn't say.

I think Brand New Dance sounds to me similar to My Band and has a little mix of Canibus blended together. And this is what some of my fear was from this album once I first heard Houdini that we’re going to get some type of songs that he worked on from that recycled from the vault and just the raps were modernized. Even his flow on brand new dance I feel like I’m listening to something from the D12 world/ Encore era. The flow sounds to me like he raps on, just lose it. Then I’m thinking to myself. Listen to it. Please don’t bring remind us of that era of Eminem from Encore to Relapse. To me that period of time Eminem released some of the worst songs not to mention I couldn’t stand his production either. Emma is a producer to me. I’m just like stay off overseeing your production. Let someone actually make the beats for you. Funny thing is Dr. Dre produced most of relapse and that still didn’t save the album. Funny thing about this album though is yeah a lot of the songs have somewhat seamless and maybe that’s because Eminem was in charge of the production but the funny thing is Eminem didn’t really produce most of the records. There were a few songs he produced it, but you did have a different mix of producers on the album. If you go look at the credits, though I feel they try to make the songs to Eminem’s liking. Also, when it comes to hooks, he actually probably had more features on the hooks with this album then he has with previous albums. I just think his best albums were the first three. It’s really not gonna go back to that even though you can tell, he tries to go back to finding that moment and it isn’t working and not realizing that time has past.

To be honest, Eminem said all that he had to say his first three or four albums. Eminem's discography hasn't aged well. Yet, people try to sit Eminem next to Nas and many of the legends, simply based on he can perform a bunch of verbal acrobatics and razzle dazzle babble. His lyrics lack poetic value. Can Eminem rap? Yes. Is he in the top 10 simply based on the fact he sold a bunch of records to suburban and rural white kids who were in some type of need of some representation in Rap ? Nope. No other rapper could get away with this type of resume, especially an MC with the credibility of a Nas .
Prime Eminem is honestly better than NAS. The rhyme scheme, the flow, the lyrical ability and even a better songwriter. He has proven his poetic value throughout his career, let's not forget that Eminem has made an incredible amount of songs. he doesn't always want to be deep and meaningful but if you do a search you can find a lot of poetic value in his discography.but of course he also made a lot of fun and provocative or just technical songs with less poetry. He is very multifaceted. But unfortunately also very inconsistent regarding the quality of his music after mmlp2. This is the only truly sensible criticism that can be made of him
Well said. I still haven’t got to listen to this album yet, but I definitely will when I have the free time. I do agree, though his best albums were his first 3 if you don’t count Infinite. I felt he was in the right space for those albums and had something to prove. After that you had a guy who really nothing left to rap about. Now you did have Recovery where he talked about overcoming his addiction to drugs and Kamikaze where he got back in his diss head mode angrily attacking Critics of Revival and mumble rappers and addressing the break up of D-12. Still even those albums don’t hold up to the first three. It almost goes back to the song Sing For the Moment where talks about squeezing and holding that moment of being great and being in the element. Unfortunately, he’s been searching for it again and still hasn’t found it not realizing it’s probably never gonna come back..

The best part about this new album is that he uses old studio recordings from 20 yrs ago with his original flow. Em used to flow so effortlessly on tracks. Now he constantly uses this choppy flow which doesn't always make for the best music.

What do you think about the rebirth single by the NYC middle school artists? I find it inspirational and needed. I feel like em gets on with too many new guys and it watered him down. I get why he does. Stay relevant with the kids cause they buy albums but it has no soul.
I feel you may have to give it more listens Ceno frfr I feel where you’re coming from but conceptually and musically honestly the more I gather with more listens it all begins to open up a bit more as to what he aimed to do here and I feel that the execution was there for sure on this project.

I think Brand New Dance sounds to me similar to My Band and has a little mix of Canibus blended together. And this is what some of my fear was from this album once I first heard Houdini that we’re going to get some type of songs that he worked on from that recycled from the vault and just the raps were modernized. Even his flow on brand new dance I feel like I’m listening to something from the D12 world/ Encore era. The flow sounds to me like he raps on, just lose it. Then I’m thinking to myself. Listen to it. Please don’t bring remind us of that era of Eminem from Encore to Relapse. To me that period of time Eminem released some of the worst songs not to mention I couldn’t stand his production either. Emma is a producer to me. I’m just like stay off overseeing your production. Let someone actually make the beats for you. Funny thing is Dr. Dre produced most of relapse and that still didn’t save the album. Funny thing about this album though is yeah a lot of the songs have somewhat seamless and maybe that’s because Eminem was in charge of the production but the funny thing is Eminem didn’t really produce most of the records. There were a few songs he produced it, but you did have a different mix of producers on the album. If you go look at the credits, though I feel they try to make the songs to Eminem’s liking. Also, when it comes to hooks, he actually probably had more features on the hooks with this album then he has with previous albums. I just think his best albums were the first three. It’s really not gonna go back to that even though you can tell, he tries to go back to finding that moment and it isn’t working and not realizing that time has past.

To be honest, Eminem said all that he had to say his first three or four albums. Eminem's discography hasn't aged well. Yet, people try to sit Eminem next to Nas and many of the legends, simply based on he can perform a bunch of verbal acrobatics and razzle dazzle babble. His lyrics lack poetic value. Can Eminem rap? Yes. Is he in the top 10 simply based on the fact he sold a bunch of records to suburban and rural white kids who were in some type of need of some representation in Rap ? Nope. No other rapper could get away with this type of resume, especially an MC with the credibility of a Nas .
Prime Eminem is honestly better than NAS. The rhyme scheme, the flow, the lyrical ability and even a better songwriter. He has proven his poetic value throughout his career, let's not forget that Eminem has made an incredible amount of songs. he doesn't always want to be deep and meaningful but if you do a search you can find a lot of poetic value in his discography.but of course he also made a lot of fun and provocative or just technical songs with less poetry. He is very multifaceted. But unfortunately also very inconsistent regarding the quality of his music after mmlp2. This is the only truly sensible criticism that can be made of him

I felt he was in the right space for those albums and had something to prove. After that you had a guy who really nothing left to rap about. Now you did have Recovery where he talked about overcoming his addiction to drugs and Kamikaze where he got back in his diss head mode angrily attacking Critics of Revival and mumble rappers and addressing the break up of D-12. Still even those albums don’t hold up to the first three. It almost goes back to the song Sing For the Moment where talks about squeezing and holding that moment of being great and being in the element. Unfortunately, he’s been searching for it again and still hasn’t found it not realizing it’s probably never gonna come back..

I can't believe you don't fw it, this his best album since Recovery. The album is long, does have a song or two maybe 3 you'd skip. The beats are familiar but still fire, the biggest thing for me is thay he ain't OD'n on that triple time flow it's more balanced. He rhyming like the old Slim Shady that's what makes the album dope and listenable. And we all know he been putting out borderline dog shit for awhile but this was 🔥
