FINALLY, they've released a single after months of knowing they were done mixing the album.
This song is every type of TesseracT riff and groove put into one song, and it's awesome, super strong single to start out with!
Now this is an 11 minute technical song in one-take so there are a few spots which could be better, however I'm pretty sure I got the notes right in terms of the tab!
There are 2 clean guitar parts which sound like slap, that I didn't actually play in this cover because of switching tones manually, and also how difficult the parts are to make out.
TUNING NOTE: I've never seen anyone ever do something like this, at least not with a semi-tone only, but Tesseract seems to have dropped the low-string by one semi-tone in drop A for whatever reason, and I can find examples in the music video for the skeptics out there

dude this was an insanely fast and good cover, congrats! also side note, Im pretty sure the tuning TesseracT uses is G#FA#D#FA#D# , same as they do with Acceptance, Eclipse, Survival and Smile among others, unless they did something special for this one
I considered that tuning but that also didn't fit with the music video
@@TheEternalFlavour you're probably right, I noticed watching James fingers on the first riff but wasn't sure
@@TheEternalFlavour Actually I think it's Drop-A but with a low G# and also a D# (E dropped down a half step). If you pause the music video at 0:39 you can see that James moves down to the seventh fret for the extended triplet stuff and that only makes sense if that string is dropped down a half step too. That, and the open palm mutes sound wrong with your tuning in the first riff.
Great job on the cover anyway, it's a monumental undertaking!
@@Paajanenae Oh yea could make sense, the chugs always sounded a bit odd, but I just figured the E didn't cut through that much but it was still there in the song

I am finding 2:20 to be the hardest part of the song to play tbh lol. Its your classic 0-2-3 , but the picking pattern is hard for me to wrap my head around LOL. Guess I shouldnt have taken a 10 year break from guitar, then decide I have to learn this
Try and think of it as always ending on an upstroke, that's what helped me, just kind of trust your picking hand

Regarding the tuning, Vildhjarta used a similar tuning but 4 steps down for most of their Masstaden under vatten album.

Great video man. The riff @ 2:20, when I heard the song, I wondered how they got that guitar tone? Just switch to the neck pickup, but it sounds so processed and cool.
Should just be a bridge split coil sound I think

Could anyone break down the section starting at 2:20?
-edit- I think I got it and it's easiest for me to feel it as loops with groups of 4, 4, 6 and 7. The 4th repetition has an extra group of 4, and the last repetition is just 3 groups of 4 before starting the whole sequence again.
I have my way of thinking about it, but if you got it nice

I recorded my left and right hand and synced it to yours lol and it's the same -tho do I dare say I think you fumbled the timing of the first notes in that section a bit? :p I also for some reason have a hard time starting that section at the right moment-. Maybe I need to relisten today or maybe there's some funky extra pause or over-the-bar silence that makes it awkward start the pattern

@@wavewithus4081 I absolutely stumbled the start of that riff, switching pickup and tone was a bit too difficult to do for it.
The timing for when it starts should be fairly straight forward, it's like 1.5 beats, try and count that 3/4 part like 6 hits
@@TheEternalFlavourhahah I only noticed because I hyperfocused on that section for a bit and got confused. Nothing is ever perfect but this video comes pretty close. Thanks again for the content and for the replies, I just finished learning the whole thing. This song is filled with cool riffs and grooves, incredibly fun stuff to play and figure out the timings of.
