10:38 Yeah, no. I used to work at a cemetery, which is how I came to the conclusion that a cemetery is probably one of the safest places to be during a zombie apocalypse. Not kidding. Bodies that have a traditional burial (vs cremation) are pumped full of preservatives, put into caskets that at the very least are closed up tight, and then put 6 feet into the ground, within a cement vault which prevents the ground from sinking as the body and casket decompose. (Even a metal casket can eventually oxidise.) Even if the family doesn't want a full box vault, most cemeteries will insist on a grave liner that will also prevent ground sinking. So even if a dead body buried in a cemetery reanimates, it's got to figure out a way to get out of a coffin, up through several feet of heavy dirt, and then get through a cement liner. And oh by the way, it's likely got caps between its eyeballs and eyelids, and its mouth has been stitched or pinned closed, so it can't see or bite.
I’m glad that someone with experience in this work has busted this trope. I’ve always wondered about that for years and that you’ve described how bodies are actually buried just proves how much more ridiculous that zombie cliche is.
While all true, I still wouldn't go to a cemetery during a zombie outbreak. Not because of all the dead bodies there, but because of how open it is. When outnumbered it's a horrible idea to be out in the open
This movie is guilty pleasure of mine. Just because the city is suppose to Raccoon city (aka a generic American city.) But all through the movie you see Canadian landmarks and companies. 4:30 you see CIBC and Scotiabank two Canadian Banks. You also see the CN tower in shots and Toronto's city hall.
I get a kick out of how they show it at Detroit's position on the map in 2 of the movies, and call it Detroit in another movie, but then it has mountains around it in the last movie. (no mountains in sight of Detroit)
Theorys range from she was on a date just before everything happens in RE3 to she was doing some undercover work. I like to think that as I did she girls wearing similar outfits back in the 90s in Highschool that Jill dressed this way as part of the fashion of the time. I remember people wearing much more skimpy outfits back then too.
Going by files from the game, to make a Nemesis Type bio weapon you need someone who can be used to produce a Tyrant (last boss of the first game, and many others, only some kinds of people can turn into one) and infect the poor sap with a parasitic worm infected with the virus, if the process doesn't kill the mook, the parasite will enter a symbiotic relationship with said mook and they will turn into Nemesis, a single scratch doesn't make you Nemesis, Matt would probably turn into a zombie, or in the worst case, a Tyrant, and, unlike with the dead bodies, he wouldn't be reanimated, he would go insane and his body would degenerate before his eyes, wich is nightmare fuel in of itself, Albert Wesker files detail that Nemesis was one of the Umbrella's subjects for their weapon projects, and only one of them was produced because the process was costly and dangerous and unlike Tyrants, Nemesis can't be mass produced.
Jill Valentine turned into a completely cold-hearted sociapath for this movie. She is responsible first for the death of Terri Morales, who never should have been alone in a zombie apocalypse, the woman had no experience in survival. Second Nicholai Ginovaeff could have used a minute or two of back-up from Jill, despite his bravado, he clearly was an asset that should not have gone out like that. It was just stupid. I think it was just to diminish Jill in comparison to their Mary Sue Alice. Is it just me, or was this Hollywood's way of saying "we know you love these characters, but shut up stupid plebs, we do what we want."?
There's actually a manga explaining Nemesis' backstory, he was a boxer who was kidnapped and mutated for you know why. One thing thats kinda cool is Nemesis fights William Birkin from Resident Evil 2 which actually is possible considering the timeline.
Man, I don't know why i recently found your channel but you are one of my favorite movie reviewers. You can tell you do your research with every review and the effort shows!!!!! I hope more and more horror/movie fans find your channel and adore it as much as the rest of us!
These “Resident Evil” movies are about as divorced from the source material as the Scott Ciencin Silent Hill comics: even if you’ve never played the games, you can still tell they got nearly everything wrong and just cram in superficial references to the games to compensate-and if you DID play the games, it pisses you off even more.
Sounds suspiciously like what Capcom pulled with the later Devil May Cry games. They gave the players garbage that crapped on the established characters and expected them to just roll with it because it looked cool. Makes me sick that Dante went Hellblazer tier bad ass to a braindead retard and no ones said anything about it
I liked Apocalypse because its the closest related to an actual Resident Evil Game(RE3), but yeah, Alice was the worst part, being a Mary Sue Fanfic character. She wasnt so bad in the first movie, and she got so much worse in subsequent movies.
My favorite scene is when a woman in plain clothes marches into a crowded police station and opens fire with a firearm, and none of the officers react. People have told me it's okay because they would have recognized Jill, but... nah. It's frankly absurd that anyone, even an officer (and especially one who was currently off the force due to suspicious allegations), could simply start shooting people without an immediate response. In a rational film those cops would all have drawn their weapons and started screaming at her to drop her gun. That is, if they didn't immediately kill her.
11:20 Actually, bodies that have been buried would have undergone an autopsy, so they literally wouldn't even have a brain for the T-Virus to reanimate.
Also probably another reference to the game. Both resident evil 3 and code veronica have a grave yard level. Zombies also crawl their way out of the graves.
The more worrying thing is the lack of decomposition on most of them shows that this town had a huge disaster BEFORE this happened as it seems lots of those people were buried quite recently.
The worst one in the series imo. The reason the main characters go to such lengths to save Ashfords daughter but mostly ignore other survivors is because she is her ticket out of town. Not very heroic but a reason none the less. Great review.
Yea but they did that because it was gonna get nuked. And alice being familiair woith umbrella corp's tactics knew she could not do anything except escape.
Wasn't even Alfred Ashford just a character with the same last name. This " movie" angers me as they kinda use beats of RE3:Nemesis but turned it into a Mary Sue fan fiction and make Jill look useless. All my hopes for a proper RE3 movie have died as even if they reboot the RE movies with how Hollywood is so sex negative now we probably won't see Jill in the classic outfit more likely the remake of RE3's Jill outfit. Also it would be hard to explain why Nemesis doesn't have the mini gun they added to this movie to anyone how doesn't know much about RE3:Nemesis.
I’ll agree they could’ve done better, but this is in no way the worst in the series, certainly not with Alice becoming Mary Sue-Supercharged after they reveal the clone saga.....
And they can't have detectors without opening the door. "Lickers" I thought you said time for liquor. It's the power of knowledge and money. Her dad is the chief.
On the graveyard zombies thing, a quick google shows that the body begins to liquify after 1 month, so "months to dissipate" would suggest somehow, while in a liquid state, the brain holds a charge... . I mean who knows maybe it could as a liquid can hold a charge I guess, but I feel like a liquid zombie wouldn't do you much good, so you'd want to get them up and running before then.
yes indeed but also the whole "brain holds a charge, hair and fingernails continue to grow" thing is a complete myth anyway, death means all metabolic processes have ceased
Just realised- at the start, when they show the city being walled off its a landlocked and surrounded on all sides by walls. 3:45 Yet, when the bomb drop, the city is standing next to a giant lake or the sea with no walls in sight... they could have just sailed out... (23:17)

since im playing through the re 2 remake the church scene makes me weep because of how much missed potential for a tense scene there was, lickers are meant to be fucking blind so they could easily figure this out with one attacking someone and when they try to sneak past it another one literally walks right past them and they have to sneak out of the church with even the slightest noise making them come closer to them, youd think the lack of eyes would have clued these people in that they shouldnt have monster vision
So... we see Umbrellas master plan for an outbreak to completion at the start Step 1. Send in team who knows nothing about anything for no real reason as they would never have been allowed out alive anyway. Step 2. System locks up base trapping any who survived inside (though this bit goes wrong as some people actually get out, obviously not intended from how the whole place was designed Step 3. yeah i know, its currently copyright flagged i will be getting a copyright strike because of it, but I'm gonna dispute that and it'll be available agin in two weeks, sorry for the inconvenience.
I noticed that too..they should have just put Chris and Jill in the first movie instead of the completely made up Alice character.she has no place in this film because she was not in the first so how?? Does she know about the zombies and how too kill them????plus they made her look more of a stereotyped cliche bad girl with a honest heart.Jill in the games was smart and strong but was also level headed and always looked like a professional.here she was just cocky eye candy in a short dress.
5:43 Actually, from what I heard in a commentary on this movie, the filmmakers wanted the zombies to move quicker, so they edited the scene with that weird blur effect. Which kinda gets a mixed reaction from me: on one hand, the zombies do look like they're moving quicker so there's less time spent on them just walking, but on the other hand, none of the other movies use this effect again and it just looks really tacky, like something you'd see in a generic zombie movie.
Fun Fact: The Zombie at the wall causing panic in the beginning is played by German comedian/actor Tom Gerhardt, famous before anything else for his portrayal of drunk and/or conservative German stereotypes - as can be seen here ua-cam.com/video/7hQrwlb0kwk/v-deo.html
Well about that wall. Could it be that Umbrella build that wall at the same time as the city?. After all they do have secret lab underneath the city,so that wall could be just another faill-safe. I guess it could be placed underground and then when outbreak started , the wall could be just raised up.
well when they show the computer generated video of the wall being built its shown as being placed as individual panels, i mean the underground theory is a good one but if that were the case they would have shown it emerging from the ground, but they didn't.
Deusdaecon Reviews um okay, even though I'm dead serious I enjoyed the films growing up I really enjoyed the last one 3-4 were bad and I'm curious how this is gonna end I hope it goes out with a bang
You know what watching this review I just realized something that this movie series she needs to be trying to make a distaff version of Albert Wesker as a hero and follow along so why did they have Wesker in the first movie?
I know this is off topic but I always assumed the zombie plague in Romero's original trilogy was airborn considering how some came back without being bitten. Also if that's the case, couldn't be true that the bite is not the cause of zombification but rather you are simply dying bacteria inside the mouth entering you bloodstream?
In the "of the dead" films if you die you come back as a zombie, bites just speed up the process, although that doesn't apply to day of the dead because people die and don't come back as zombies, because they wanted to get across to the audience that whatever caused the outbreak is no longer happening.
Here is something that confused me that you some what touched on. If the child needs regular doses of the anti-virus wouldn't Carlos also need them too? how is his infection different then hers also so how are they alive by the end where are they getting their doses?
as i understand it, regular bite infection is not extensive so only needs a single does to cure, With the girl the virus is whats keeping her alive so she needs dose of the anti-virus to keep her from going many tentacled monstrosity on everyone, but yes you are right about how she's still functioning without the antivirus at the end though, unless they have the stuff stockpiled somewhere.
Lets be honest if nothing else these film firmly establish that umbrella, don't do silly things like logic and making sense, "make more killer viruses, make less sense" is their motto.
I know this is late but you should check out the residents evil (biohazard) comic that explained nemesis back story I know it not canon but it still better than that back story
wait so when the scientists daughter gets taken from school in the morning and is in a car crash the film then jumps 13 hours later and it's still light.... it would have to at least be midnight..... shoddy shoddy anderson
i remember Nemesis as the most scary thing in RE 3, but in this one, hes had a puppy eyes.... not to mention 21:40 only idiot people, standing in the direction of fire
As fan of the game series i have quite disdain for these movies(first one was at least watchable because it was its own story) I get the feeling Anderson's response to the fans are like this "Excited to see your favourite characters from the games in this movie? Well fuck them, they don't matter. My wife is the only thing that matters and you should love her too" Anyway, i love your videos and they are really entertaining to watch. Keep it up! 😀☺👏 Are you going to review Resident Evil: The Final Chapter someday?
Im not really fond of «alternate universe» but, i do find this movie decent since Jill had more screentime on this compared to the rest of the game cast later on in the movie...
@@deusdeaconReviews yeah .. kinda do feel like they under utilized the actress portraying Jill (and defenitive Claire, Leon and the rest later on). Marry Sue concept is only good in anime tho;(

ginger snaps 2/unleashed, I've reviewed it on the channel, very very early video though, doesn't have the gleaming mirror polish of the more modern reviews.
watching through these again it really doesn't help making a film about a game, then making an entirely new character that cleans up after the not as competent characters from the games. I mean Jill isn't entirely incompetent at least, but they clearly made her the second fiddle to random unknown hot wife of director.
Of course it is, they really love to mess with reviewers and critics. Hell I think LoreReloaded gets in trouble every time he says the words "Star Trek" lole.
Arwan Rhys not here in the States. It’s usually shown visually, if it’s shown at all, but is almost never stated verbally as we all assume it’s F. Only NASA and the DOD use anything metric, otherwise everything else is Imperial standard.
Wait. Did they ever give a reason for why the t-virus went from an airborne virus to a bloodborne pathogen via biting? I don’t think viruses can work that way.
no they can't work that way all thats said is that the virus "is protean" mean it can change depending on it environment so essentialy the film is saying " a wizard did it !"
10:38 Yeah, no. I used to work at a cemetery, which is how I came to the conclusion that a cemetery is probably one of the safest places to be during a zombie apocalypse. Not kidding. yeah i know, its currently copyright flagged i will be getting a copyright strike because of it, but I'm gonna dispute that and it'll be available agin in two weeks, sorry for the inconvenience.
Deusdaecon Reviews sorry to hear that I know UA-cam's been kind of sh*t to reviewers recently. Like your work.
Great job, i love your reviews i haven't laughed so hard since I actually see this film brilliant job.
Wabbelschwabbel!
Well about that wall. Could it be that Umbrella build that wall at the same time as the city?. After all they do have secret lab underneath the city,so that wall could be just another faill-safe. I guess it could be placed underground and then when outbreak started , the wall could be just raised up.
well when they show the computer generated video of the wall being built its shown as being placed as individual panels, i mean the underground theory is a good one but if that were the case they would have shown it emerging from the ground, but they didn't.
oh ok. I never saw that scene. Thx for clarification.
I love your sarcastic tone you deserve millions of views
Still love these films with a passion, and I'm sad to see them go this January
Don't worry its Stockholm syndrome, You'll be fine.
Deusdaecon Reviews um okay, even though I'm dead serious I enjoyed the films growing up I really enjoyed the last one 3-4 were bad and I'm curious how this is gonna end I hope it goes out with a bang
well if you liked the first one and extinction, they seems to be just nicking shit from those film so i think you'll be fine.
Deusdaecon Reviews no I was bored with the first film 2 and 5 are my fave
haha... especially the 4 and 5 are not even movies...its just stiched action scenes together trying desperately to make sense
You know what watching this review I just realized something that this movie series she needs to be trying to make a distaff version of Albert Wesker as a hero and follow along so why did they have Wesker in the first movie?
My favorite criticism channel
This is one of my guilty pleasure movies!
@@deusdeaconReviews oh so thats the reason
Is there a spot were i could watch your review of the first resident evil movie, it is restricted
you can watch it right here in a few days when the copyright strike is lifted.
That's nice to hear, love your reviews dude.
4:53 he was? That’s awesome
18:10 seriously was that really necessary
Here is something that confused me that you some what touched on. If the child needs regular doses of the anti-virus wouldn't Carlos also need them too? how is his infection different then hers also so how are they alive by the end where are they getting their doses?
as i understand it, regular bite infection is not extensive so only needs a single does to cure, With the girl the virus is whats keeping her alive so she needs dose of the anti-virus to keep her from going many tentacled monstrosity on everyone, but yes you are right about how she's still functioning without the antivirus at the end though, unless they have the stuff stockpiled somewhere.
Why the heck doesn't Umbrella have a robotics division, that would be the prefect counter to bioweapons, zombies don't eat robots.
Lets be honest if nothing else these film firmly establish that umbrella, don't do silly things like logic and making sense, "make more killer viruses, make less sense" is their motto.
I bet that is on their business cards too ;]
@@zerrowolf6747 "Here at Umbrella, we have truly taken the phrase 'Fuck logic' to heart."
04:34 That's not a Mission Impossible style rappel... that's DEMOLITON MAN style rappel!
I think an actual zombie apocalypse was actually going to break out before the high was opened
lol listen to the commentary on RE:A, The actress that plays jill ONLY talks about jill
the worst thing was how they ruined nikolai
I know this is late but you should check out the residents evil (biohazard) comic that explained nemesis back story I know it not canon but it still better than that back story
I wonder why they didn’t just make Payton Barry
Umbrella guy looks like Gordon Ramsey.
maybe nemesis infected ashfort ya know cuz he did that in the game but not here
wait so when the scientists daughter gets taken from school in the morning and is in a car crash the film then jumps 13 hours later and it's still light.... it would have to at least be midnight..... shoddy shoddy anderson
I'm gonna say it, Operation Raccoon City WAS BETTER THAN THESE MOVIES
ORC went hard. Gotta play it again one day.
Wait, wasn't Carlos bitten earlier?
i remember Nemesis as the most scary thing in RE 3, but in this one, hes had a puppy eyes....
not to mention 21:40 only idiot people, standing in the direction of fire
4:52 are you referring to the actor or the character being trained by in Isreal?
the actor oded fehr
@@deusdeaconReviews oh
As fan of the game series i have quite disdain for these movies(first one was at least watchable because it was its own story) I get the feeling Anderson's response to the fans are like this "Excited to see your favourite characters from the games in this movie? Well fuck them, they don't matter. My wife is the only thing that matters and you should love her too"
Anyway, i love your videos and they are really entertaining to watch. Keep it up! 😀☺👏
Are you going to review Resident Evil: The Final Chapter someday?
the final chapter review is written and filming ASAP
4:30
That was more of a 'Demolition man' helicopter drop...
minus the "PHEONIX"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To this day I thought this movie was titled Resident Evil: Nemesis ... like the game. I guess it's just bc Nemesis is what I remember the most from it
Well (stupid backstory aside), he was put on the screen very well
Im not really fond of «alternate universe» but, i do find this movie decent since Jill had more screentime on this compared to the rest of the game cast later on in the movie...
I mean lets be honest the majority of that screen time consisted of “Alice is better then jill” crap
@@deusdeaconReviews yeah .. kinda do feel like they under utilized the actress portraying Jill (and defenitive Claire, Leon and the rest later on). Marry Sue concept is only good in anime tho;(
The funny thing is, if you read the comic, Nemesis does have a tragic backstory
Yo is that the hg sandrock gundam in the back
Can anyone tell me what the "thats convenient" clip he always uses is from?
Its from Ginger snaps 2: Unleashed, I have reviewed it.
@@deusdeaconReviews thanks so much mate. Love your videos. Haven't watched the gingers snaps videos yet, because the first at least is on my list to watch. Only for into horror a few years ago, and reviewers like you are part of the reason its now my favourite genre. So basically, I want to say thanks for your part in turning me on to horror.
Most recently you convinced me to check out colour out of space and the void. So thanks for those
Wait.. why are the dogs infected?
Where is that "That's convenient." clip from?
ginger snaps 2/unleashed, I've reviewed it on the channel, very very early video though, doesn't have the gleaming mirror polish of the more modern reviews.
@@deusdeaconReviews Cheers :) - I'll give it a watch next!
Resident evil movie series is a prequel to return of the living dead
watching through these again it really doesn't help making a film about a game, then making an entirely new character that cleans up after the not as competent characters from the games. I mean Jill isn't entirely incompetent at least, but they clearly made her the second fiddle to random unknown hot wife of director.
Umbrella is the government.... and we know the government never lies.....
*sickly sweet smile*
Cheers
Lets hope that "the final chapter" is actually final... The world doesnt need more of this shit
Agreed, we will see how Netflix handles it.
Why is the first movies review blocked in the US?
currently in copyright dispute, it'll be back in about two weeks.
Of course it is, they really love to mess with reviewers and critics. Hell I think LoreReloaded gets in trouble every time he says the words "Star Trek" lole.
LJ was alive simply so they can say “hey we let the black guy live”! 😂 that dont last long tho.
So the reason for jittery camera was shitty make up effects.
92 degrees Heatwave?
That's pretty deadly considering Water boils ad 100 degrees
That's 92°F . Water boils at 212°F and freezes at 32°F
@@lorriehicks7156 I'm not sure, but I think that was the point..... even crap weather shows specify Celcius and Farenheight.
Cheers
Arwan Rhys not here in the States. It’s usually shown visually, if it’s shown at all, but is almost never stated verbally as we all assume it’s F. Only NASA and the DOD use anything metric, otherwise everything else is Imperial standard.
From what I understand from the games raccoon city is in the heart of Missouri So 90゚ weather is nothing
the city it self has always been modelled on Montréal, Québec though
@@deusdeaconReviews In that case some surprise they were even alive, I've seen Canadians pass out in 70゚ weather
Wait. Did they ever give a reason for why the t-virus went from an airborne virus to a bloodborne pathogen via biting? I don’t think viruses can work that way.
I have adhd so it’s really hard to shutoff my brain :(
no they can't work that way all thats said is that the virus "is protean" mean it can change depending on it environment so essentialy the film is saying " a wizard did it !"
